I was living in Boston at the time… the way we all took over the streets of that city after this game was unlike anything I’ve see in real life, on tv or anywhere really. Cops had no control or authority due to virtually every human living in that city at the time filling the parks and streets, but there was no need for them because everything was peaceful and everyone was partying together. A privilege to be a part of

I didn’t know he also played on defense. It’s crazy to see how versatile he was.
It was for a couple games. He played well at corner. Troy Brown did the same. He had 3 ints though he was our wr and return man. I am a big welker fan but the ironman role goes #1 Julian, #2 Troy Brown aka Mr. Patriot, #3 Wes Welker
The 2011 defense was so bad they had to play Edelman. 2011 team still went to the Superbowl though.

@@shawnsanders9450 it wasnt a terrible defense. #15 in points against and points against per game. Julian didnt play because of poor performance by the secondary. It was due to the amount of injuries.
@@metalscottsman the injuries is what made it a bad defense OBVIOUSLY. The 2011 Patriots defense has a HORRIBLE DVOA ranking of 30th. DVOA factors in points, yards, turnovers, sacks ect. If the offense controls time of possession, field position, turnovers ect its much easier for the defense to keep points off the board.
My all time favorite Patriot, miss seeing him and Brady, they were the greatest combo. Hope he makes the Hall of Fame he deserves it

This genuinely brought tears to my eyes and gave me chills. This man is a legend. I agree that the story of the NFL can't be told without Edelman getting a whole chapter.
He's the most impactful post-season WR in the last 20 years I'd say. He definitely left a special mark on the league.

That title is gonna be controversial, but I love it anyway - Edelman contributed so much to the second half of the Patriots dynasty that I cant even be mad. Hell of a career for a 6th round QB turned WR. With the odds stacked against him he pulled it off. Hats off to you, Julian, even though you broke my heart in SB53.

The fact that he learned to release, catch and run routes for the first time in his rookie year, and then going on to be one of the greatest postseason WR's ever, is an incredible story

Julian Edelman is a hall of famer in my book! One of the best players, not just as a wide receiver.

@@mosescarter5980 You know what, I actually might give it a try and figure out what's going on, figure out the rules and game tactics etc. I'm a big MMA fan and a rugby fan so I'm used to seeing massive impacts and I can't help but respect these men who put their bodies through hell to reach the greatest heights in heaven. So they've got my respect. After watching this video on the sport I can't help but feel that I'm missing out on something special. Those passes are some of the more amazing thing I've seen in a while, the timing and millisecond decision making is phenomenal. God bless America and Ireland.

Definitely! Only player I think was more clutch as a wide receiver was Larry but edelman got to do it on the big stage multiple times.
@@Christopher._M Plus he was always putting in those hard yards, taking big hits on routes across the middle, powering through tackles for that extra yard. He wasn't flashy or showy, just an absolute tank who Brady could always rely on to get it done

He’s super tough. It isn’t hard to walk on a torn ACL though tbh. You see it all the time. I’ve seen it on our women’s high school soccer team from people that I personally know are kind of complete pussies 😂
I know a dude that torn his acl in a basketball game, came out put two knee braces and went back in to finish the game. He got the acl replaced and 3 months later he was full at it playing ball.
I'm gonna miss the Squirrel. Always showed up when you needed him most. Never took a play off. He made the plays that nobody wanted to make and sacrificed his body doing it. He earned those yards over the middle knowing he was gonna get creamed by a linebacker or safety. He did it because he knew it would take those plays to win. He's a HoFer, not even a question. The only receiver with more yards in the playoffs is Jerry Rice. Only six receivers have won SB MVP putting him among Jerry Rice, Hines Ward, and Lynn Swan. He's in good company.
Facts
He's gotta be in the HOF. Maybe not 1st Ballet, but guaranteed in 6 or 7 years we will see him get in the HOF as a 2nd ballet Hall Of Famer.

He's so underrated man. IMO he's one of the best ever. He should get into the HOF simply because he never played WR until coming to the NFL then turned himself into one of the better ones in the league. He always came up in clutch moments and his versatility is just insane, the guy has played everywhere in the field.
I'm not even huge into football but I love Julian Edelman. Truly an inspirational player.

Not only did he have solid general numbers, but he was nails in the playoffs, he was a complete players with blocking, running, catching, special teams, and even a little defense and QB.
Add that each of his yards were tough gritty yards that moved the chains, and yeah.... by pure football metrics, he belongs in the Hall of Fame.
One manly tear shed. This was an amazing tribute to my favorite player ever. His story has pushed me to exceed expectations. I can't wait to see what he does with a well deserved retirement

yes, he was good more like ok player, but I sure wouldn't call him great player. he only has 3 seasons with 1000 yards. for his career he doesn't have 7000 yards receiving and never been voted to probowl. you need HOF numbers to be a HOF player.

Edelman was a great player, no doubt, but not a HOF player. Not with a mere 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns over a span of 11 seasons. For comparison, Henry Ellard had over 13,000 receiving yards in his career, and he's still not in Canton.

Julian was the number 1 receiver on a team that always had a top offense, and always was in title contention. People 50 years from now could look back and be like, "hmm lets see who made this Patriots offense back in the 2010s so good for so long. Gronkowski. I know that guy, freak of nature, and Jul-- Julian Edelman? Well he must have been a helluva player for them to win so much." See what I'm getting at here. Edelman might be a receiver who will end up being more memorable than Odell, Julio or even AB.

Everyone keeps comparing him to a outside WR. He’s not 6’3 who runs a 4.2. He’s 5’9 and ran a 4.6 and always went over the middle.
You can’t compare a hammer to a screw driver or a FB to a RB
EXACTLY, Julian was a more agile Wes Welker or a faster Wayne Chrebet , I always loved Eric Decker in his prime to.....Tyler Lockett in my opinion is overlooked because of Seattle...These are called slot receivers people, they are a different breed of player

He explains that his right knee is bone on bone without enough cartilage to run without pain is the reason he retired. I wonder if he got a titanium knee replacement if he would give it a go for a year with TB12 in 2022.
