Nitric acid will not attack the metal if the gold percentage is too high. You must get the gold down to about 7k or so before the nitric can remove the silver.

Silver reacts with nitric acid to form silver nitrate solution
Put some copper or sodium choloride in this Silver nitrate solution and you will get pure silver as copper will react with silver nitrate to form copper sulphate and pure silver
