What are your thoughts on the official flu game story?
I believe it’s MJ’s doc and every story is through his creative-lens.
A small town like Utah... everyone knows where the visiting team hotel is especially the NBA finals!

This audio is tough, but I know it's weird circumstances. Thanks for trying. Doug should go back and look at the WCF btw Portland and LAL the year the Lakers won their first title w/ Kobe and Shaq. Scottie Pippen was on that Trailblazers team and helped push it to 7 games. Portland was actually leading in that game 7 with about 5 minutes left, and of course, Kobe and Shaq led that tremendous come back. But, Pippen wasn't washed at all. Scottie was versatile throughout his career and just a great, great player. Just my opinion.
Yeah Pippen was a good player in Portland but the third option at that point, so he never was a superstar without Jordan, apart from that 94 season.

The flu game is easy to explain. MJ did it in the documentary. I 100% believe, his people called for a pizza, the pizza place probably said no we are closing. His people said look, it's for MJ and I'll get you a big tip or even an autograph. Some punks thought they could help the team the cheer for and did something stupid. MJ took that personal (who wouldn't) and played a great game. The only other variance it could have been is the pizza wasn't cooked properly. MJ and his camp thinks it was intentional but it could've been a mistake. Either way easy to explain. This from a guy who in the last segment he was with Colin last week said conspiracy theories are stupid and then comes in with this. SMH

Wilt Chamberlain had to restrain himself so that there could be a game, a watchable product. Essentially he was out there taking it easy on everyone unless they challenged him physically, which almost no one ever did. The officials are on record saying if they called all the fouls on Wilt there wouldn’t have been a game. He never fouled out. He picked people up off the ground. He grabbed shots out of the air at the apex. He was 7’1” and had a higher vert than anyone except maybe MJ and Zion. If they kept block stats he would have dozens of quadruple doubles. A tiny fraction of his games are recorded on video. The stars aligned for Michael. He was never the underdog in the Finals, only in the East, allowing for his precious 6 for 6. His game was aesthetically pleasing, whereas a dominant center is relatively boring to watch. People forget to factor these things in. Both Wilt and Kareem have just as good a claim to GOAT status as MJ but people are biased against centers and there isn’t enough good footage of the other guys for people to watch and be amazed.
I've been saying this for years. Broadcasters, fans, players and stat keeps PLUS actual game footage shows that Wilt averaged around 9 blocks per game for his career! That is by far his most untouchable record! There were multiple season where he averaged 10 or more blocks per game. It is unthinkable. Wilt by far the most effective and game influencing player of all time. Best NBA player

That means a bounce here, or a shot not going or going there, could have made the difference. As it was, Wilt's team stopped the Celtics streak of 8 championships, beating them in the semis by a near sweep (up 3-0, but dropping one game before winning 4-1). And setting the first of Wilt's team single season victory records (at 68, before getting 69 with the Lakers).

This whole notion going to other teams winning is overblown. If MJ went either to the Knicks with Ewing, Lakers with Magic, Charlotte with Zo, Grandmama or Houston with Hakeem. They don't win it all? Staying with one team from rock bottom and building a legacy is far more impressive instead of jumping ship when the heat gets lava hot. We now live in a world where hard work is penalised and handouts are glorified. You cannot have massive success without hard work. LBJ system is to play with his foes and declare all the credit of winning. This is why nobody likes him or wants to play with him. He is lucky AD plays with him, other than that he wouldn't have anyone. But that's soon going to change as well. Ad will leave eventually to places like Chicago.

The pizza story has been around for years, like a really long time. Utah fans were maliscious then and still are. He had no symptoms before and was fully healthy afterwards. No flu comes and goes that quickly. Food poisoning comes and goes that quickly

Doug said Pippen was not the same the few years after the 98' championship team. Did he see Pippen during the 1999-2000 season in Portland. That Portland team was a hair away from playing in the 2000 finals. Pippen was still playing at a very elite level that year. Also the dynamics are very hard to gauge if that Bulls squad stays together a few more years. That would mean that Phil Jackson stays in Chicago and never goes to L.A. That completely changes the Lakers outlook in 1999-2000. Phil brought that whole thing together with Kobe and Shaq and i'm not sure what that team looks like if Phil does not arrive in L.A. I believe if that Bulls team stayed together and MJ and that team was motivated enough because they won so much that they get 1-2 more championships. I really don't think more than 2 because that Bulls team was getting older and by 2001 Jordan was no longer the best player in the world at that point.
