All these comments on the roof but you forget how unique and crazy to drive the car is. That roof procedure just brings some fun to your sunday trip and you wouldn't mind at all if you had one . From an owner
As an owner: agree. All the people you complain about the roof: get a 718 Boxster GTS. Also a great and fun car. The RS is really for those who value and understand the combination of the GT3-engine and all the RS ingredients in the mid-engine Boxster platform and what A BLAST it is to drive this. It's for those who put pure and raw driving pleasure over comfort. It's really for petrolheads and it's special.
This is the best video online for both putting the roof up and taking it off - has been helpful, and I’ve been practicing in my garage (got my SRS yesterday!). 👍
And as you have completed the removal and got in the car and set off for the laps of Knightsbridge the heavens open and you get soaked lol... Beautiful car and amazing spec, jokes aside.
If you dislike the car for the roof, then also know that it hasn’t got the following features which would be standard on a Kia, just to name a a few. - Keyless entry and go - Adaptive cruise control - Front parking se sensors - 360 camera - Blindspot monitoring Nah, don’t bother getting this car even if you get an allocation, if the roof and lack of above features bother you. Let someone else enjoy the spine tingling intoxication that motor brings. Let someone else drive through tunnels and downshift for no reason. Let someone else enjoy the lightest car Porsche makes with that motor. Go drive the Audi A4 with the one touch open/close roof in 30sec under 50km that sounds like a vacuum cleaner and handles like a boat.
It is a bold move by Porsche in this era where most people don't even know how to use a screw driver to come up with a roof requiring some manual dexterity. People complain if a car's steering wheel is adjusted manually, imagine a roof.
I cannot believe the amount of negative comments about the roof on here. Do you not get it people??! This is a truly special car that is all about weight saving, as much as possible, the roof achieves this. It has to be this way for a variety of reasons and re-engineered due to the intakes. Whilst I admit you might be a bit annoyed if it starts hammering it down, the second it’s back on, you’re back in the car and moving forward at 9,000 rpm, you would forgive it!
is like the fully manual roof in the first gen 987 spyder..... the first gen 718 spyder is semi auto you just need to open a semiutomatic sistem ...so the 987 is more rs
The GT3 motor is physically larger than the 4L motor in the standard Spyder, so that roof simply wouldn’t fit. This solution also provides genuine weight savings, especially if you leave it at home, which is what I’ll be doing. This will just be for washing.
So, this design was the one they came up with in the name of weight savings? Why not just give them umbrellas? Or to compensate the weight of a retractable top, just add more horsepower!!😅
Mine? This isn't a tin a beans your opening. 'Mine' will arrive after Santa robs a bank and sends me the proceeds. They should have put a brolly in each door.
Cant afford the car, but if I could, this would make me look at another model.
I just got it, and this is a bitch I thought this shit was automatic
@@impapamax Aye right
This is great in a sunny country. Can't imagine doing that 4 times in a day in Scotland.

I mind a lot bc it takes to much time and is annoying. Had to sell mine to get a 911 with automatic roof

@@Elias-gb5bb you bought one knowing the roof wasn't an automatic?
Without all the over exaggerated theatricals of other videos, this is the best walkthrough of the roof I’ve seen. Thank you.

I remember back in the 80’s trying to build a flat pack wardrobe from MFI.
It didn’t end well.
This would really try my patience .
Excellent walk thru.
It’s very likely it was designed for the roof to be off most of the time. I think it looks stunning and would have this in my garage anytime.
Did you film this video in 1976?
And as you have completed the removal and got in the car and set off for the laps of Knightsbridge the heavens open and you get soaked lol...
Beautiful car and amazing spec, jokes aside.
Any hassle is worth the price of admission. Can't wait!
What color was this? San Marino?
If I bought this car, I would insist that Porsche has a binding contract with the rain, which says no rain while i am driving the Porsche 718 spider.
This car with the roof of the 718 Spyder would have been a banger
Or make it mechanical similar to the targa but with a carbon top

Ridiculous Porsche hasn’t made top automatic! Wtf
An amazing car ruined by that roof. I’d sooner have an extra 20gk or so for the normal roof…
Makes a Morgan look simple 😅😂

That was painful to watch😖
Yah that’s too much work. I’d rather just press a button.
The car isn’t for you. 👍

So satisfying. 😍😍 and it's not that complicated.
It really isn't that hard, but it does take getting used to. But man, what a car. I love driving this thing.
Paying all that money for a car, I couldn't be assed with all that nonsense 😢 ud enjoy doing all that in the pissing down in the rain 🤣🤣🤣
W R O N G !!!!
This ridiculous, I don't mind manually putting down the roof like the previous Spyder. Why the 2 piece roof?

I got three words for Porsche: great car ruined.
Mine is going to have the roof off almost permanently
To be fair it's designed to be a roof off roadster. Think of the roof as an emergency "it's raining!" solution.
what a tedious chores!! hard pass!
My Z4 is LMAO at this video.

Sorry. Sod doing all that. 😢
Good Lord, you lost me at step 4!
The video that porsche should have published years ago.
If it’s not a 911 then it’s not worth the admin😭imagine spending 1 hr taking the roof down😂
If it starts raining, you would be drowned time you put the roof back on😅
Worst roof in the history of any auto!
Even my S3 Lotus Elise has a much better roof than this!
No way I would pay that much money and bother so much just to put the roof down. Pass
Yeah, that's the reason you won't get a Spyder RS

“If it starts to rain..” you and the car are going to get wet. 😖
Uglinesses of a soft top, impracticality of a hard top, bad as it gets 😔
Damn
the rain is coming
me :
This is why I got the GT4 RS....
I’ve had both, granted the 4RS for a year and a half and the spyder only for a week but the 4rs is so much more enjoyable to not deal w this lol
That is the most Ridiculous convertible I’ve ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A convertible would’ve been a lot better too much time to take it off and put it back on not for me afraid
nope!
Public service at its best 😆
What a faf
No thanks....
