Regarding Floyd Hill, my Colorado history professor in college had great stories about the mining boom, especially early days in Blackhawk, Central City and Georgetown. When the only transportation up to the mining areas was stagecoach and they were overcrowded, the drivers would stop the coach at the bottom of Floyd Hill and tell the passengers they had to get out and walk to the top because the grade was so steep. He'd wait for them at the too and they'd continue on their way. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for the vids! I did those roads in the 80's & 90's and am constantly amazed at all the changes from new construction to road lighting. I-70 was quite dark with just nothing between the then small towns.

Thanks for the tunnel again Mike. I just think it's neat to drive through it. I've driven through it a few times going to Copper and back in the summer. I've never been west of Vail in reality though so you are letting me see what's west on I-70 via your vids. I've never been to Grand Junction and I've been here since June 3 1958 when we moved from Kearney NE. Thanks for all the trips. I look forward for more trips.

Dottie Hildebrand They wait until you’re right at that critical point, then swerve in front of you, then magically can’t go any faster than the truck they’re passing. After some miles of this, usually 2 to 5, when traffic is nice and packed together they can magically get around the right hand truck. No... no hills involved. Although it often happens with hills. The key here, is that they are overtaking, then suddenly are not. I’m pretty sure that drivers have a name for this, I’d be curious to hear it.

When I was a kid my dad knew the head of security at Eisenhower Tunnel. My family got to see how it all worked in the inside way back when. I really doubt it's the same now. In late 70's or early 80's. To long ago to remember. Yet I still remember the inside of it. Kinda boring yet cool. Take care.

I gave my husband a nice Valentine's gift....my cold. He came out of his quicker probably because he was on antibiotics after his surgery. I am looking forward to warm days ahead so I can get my garden in. The hills are green now, trees are blooming (probably which caused my cold....hay fever). So spring has sprung. I am learning to drive again. My friend and neighbor lost his license due to uncorectable eyesight. I have not driven for 7 years, however I have kept my driver's license and kept it renewed. I haven driven a stick sense 79. I think it is good I stay in practice. As far as the Flag goes, I admit as a kid I did not give a rat's backside about the Flag. I do now, because it is the only thing left. If you seen the neighborhoods of Detroit, you would get my drift. Enjoyed the ride.

WTF is it with cars not being able to pass trucks. I could be cruising with a pack doing 75+ then the lead car drops to 60 hanging out at the left rear trailer tire until someone( me!) honks and makes them speed up. I don't get it as some rear tires are retreads hence the gators on the road. Just dumb asses I guess.

The Eisenhower tunnel is amazing with one long light tube on either side. I wonder if they ever need to replace them. Great trip...Be safe.

This years super bowl wasn’t a one sided affair. Kansas City was behind with 6:00 minutes to play and came back to win. It was nip and tuck.
