      It is really nice but one part is weird but maybe that is only lack of my information. On last Domino brick we have Brille number 5 but then Normal number 2, that part is a little bit "tricky" but I think it should be all brille or in a different way show the Order.

    • @Yasen6275

      Braille is tactile alphabet. I don't think anyone besides teachers that teach it is able to make connection between image and meaning. The Idea is great thou.

  • @Bobal27

    I’ve been watching too much LPL. As he was fiddling with the box, tensioning by lifting the lid, I kept hearing “Looks like we got a small click out of 1, good click out of 3...”

    • @josiahtasich6073
      @josiahtasich6073 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's okay; I to thought of LPL when I saw this: I saw the exposed hinge pins and thought. I know how LPL would open this!

  • @Nyarlah
    @Nyarlah 5 ปีที่แล้ว +140

    Great idea, but I feel like giving the domino dots some tactile feedback would help a lot. If it's completely flat you won't ever think about braille just from watching dominos.

    • @PickleTickle
      @PickleTickle 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      agreed, having the top half that was in braille protrude while leaving the bottom untouched would have been a great hint and shown that the bottom half was not in braille

    • @zeikjt
      @zeikjt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I don't know about never, once you notice that the dominoes have non-domino dot combinations it's not a huge leap to try and find some kind of numeric or linguistic representation that works in dots, and voila. It's hard, but not impossible.

    • @Nyarlah
      @Nyarlah 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@zeikjt Then we're hitting on another aspect. Many people (myself included) won't be able to point out that the domino dots combinations are not valid. I actually have no idea why they're not valid, because I haven't touched dominos in decades. So if that's a trigger for thinking about another interpretation, it's already too narrow. I appreciate the effort in the riddle, it's very smart, but if it relies on you visually recognizing braille or knowing the natural visuals of dominos, it's leaving a huge chunk of potential users in a deep unknown.
      Protruding dots would be a natural connection to braille, but then we'd miss the unaligned-domino-dots step, which the creator clearly intended to present. I don't know, I love the chain of thoughts "not valid dominos" > "interpret the points in a different way" > "braille" > solution, but I feel this might only be available to very few people. It's not a self-contained puzzle, so it's up to many riddle and knowledge sensitivities.

    • @zeikjt
      @zeikjt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Nyarlah Well, even if you never knew what Dominoes were they are both drawn on the box and it's in the name of the puzzle. I think it's okay for puzzles to include a bit of learning if you're not familiar with all the aspects so a little googling and image searching such would get you on your way. I think it's even more fun when you have to learn something new to solve a puzzle :)

    • @Nyarlah
      @Nyarlah 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@zeikjt Fair point. I like self-contained puzzles, but I have no objections with broader puzzles, it's always good to learn something !

      1. He should've made it 3 times the height and added layers of locks, spinning the bearing in the middle could've turned the bottom one, spinning the bearing in the bottom could've turned the upper one.
      2. Have 2 levels of keys; First you have to spin one bearing 360 degrees to activate lock number two, and the lock number two is the one to open the puzzle.

    Is the metal cylinder supposed to be used as a handle? Twisting these little magnets seems a little awkward.
    The solution seems like a classic geocaching puzzle. Braille is a somewhat common encoding there, so I actually got it after a few minutes. The number sign just rang a bell.

    I can read and write first grade Braille and even with this knowledge/skill, unless the "dots" were raised like the dots in actual Braille, the chances of me "seeing" the dominoes indicating Braille notations would be highly unlikely. A very clever puzzle for the sighted person and the makings or start of a FANTASTIC puzzle for VIPs (visually impaired persons)! With a few changes/modifications this would be a great tool in helping teach someone to learn Braille! Well done to the creator of this puzzle! 😎💪👀👐
    Edit: in the pictures of the dominoes indicating the Braille, from left to right: the first one is nearly indistinguishable because of the second dominoe and the second dominoe is not the sign for "7" it is the sign for the letter "x" and the alphabetic wordsign for "it". The number sign for "7" is the letter "g" ; 1=a, 2=b, 3=c, 4=d, 5=e, 6=f, 7=g, 8=h, 9=i, 0=j, the third dominoe is the Strong Groupsign for "ch" and Strong Wordsign for "child"
    The fourth dominoe is the Strong Groupsign for "st" and the Strong Wordsign for "still"
    UEB Braille standard :
    Numeric = dots 3,4,5,6
    g/7 = dots 1,2,4,5
    e/5 = dots 1,5
    i/9 = dots 2,4
    What the dominoes pictured actually show/say is;
    First: indistinguishable
    Second: x,it, dot 1,3,4,6
    Third: ch,child, dot 1,6
    Fourth: st,still, dot 3,4

      Hey! I am a visually impaired person, and while you are correct that it is not the UEB standard, it does in fact say what the creator intended. And yes, I can see, but not well. I started learning braille because at any moment I could lose my sight due to retinal thinning.
      Please know I do not mean to be rude in any way, I'm merely letting you know. :]

    Being a person who is legally blind and knowing braille i like the idea
    My only issue was that yes everything is correct in terms of braille but one the number sign was a bit to hidden ik its a puzzle and u can be to revealing but i mean idk how it look in person but it was like at least dots 5 and 6 were covered almost completely
    Never the less its still a good puzzle and i liked that they did that
    Also if we want to be really really picky about this the 1 2 3 thing for which lock should have been indicated as
    1 = dot 1
    2 = dots 1 and 2
    And
    3 = dots 1 and 4
    But its not that big a deal just would have made it more true with how its solution worked but like i said
    its cool
    Thats all i wanted to say

He can make it tight if he swaps out the magnets for like a pin tool. This would let you move the dials with more torque.

    There is a braille language for many of the languages spoken today. While the move toward braille uniformity, known as Unified English Braille (UEB), has led to many correspondences between the alphabets, the languages themselves are still distinct and unique. So braille is not a language, though it's a common mistake. That aside, your video and other puzzle videos are all outstanding. The way you figure out these puzzles is simply amazing to me, and my favorite part of your videos. I've watched so many of them now. I'm a competitive domino player, and love Sudoku puzzles. However these puzzles must use another part of the brain, or you must be brilliant, because I don't think I could solve 80% of them in a months time.

    I enjoyed this video though the worst part is those who read braille wont be able to solve it as they wont be able to see where to align the discs :( keep it up though mr. Puzzle, I love your videos especially your excitement over puzzles

    That's actually one of those I was able to pause the video and figure out. I got the idea that it was braille, even if I can't read it. The first domino is a big clue, and the 2 different style of 2s on the domino confirms it.

    What if you lean the box toward the hinges, will that move the keys in the opening position?

    When I looked at the domino faces, I noticed the weird placement of pips. I thought it was a logic state puzzle. So for instance, looking at the top half of the dominos, we notice that from right to left, the two pips switch location. So if you take the placement of the front domino's two pips, and the next's location of two pips and overlap them, it makes the four pips in the corners of the 3rd domino. Similar with the bottom half, you take the two pips and overlay against the single pip and you get the three.
    Generally, in these kinds of puzzles, they are negated placements. So if two pips are overlaid, they negate each other. If we compare the third domino top (4 pips) to the last (4 pips, oddly placed) we can see that there would need to be a pip in the top left position and the middle right position. For the bottom half, we compare the third domino bottom (3 pips) to the last (0 pips) and so the hidden information would be the same as the 3rd domino's pip positions.
    Ultimately, this isn't the way to solve the puzzle, but just a pattern I notice.

    i love that the hint is literally given on the box but you were like 'screw it im solving it like a mechanical puzzle' lmao
    would have been a fairer puzzle if the images of the dominos had their bumps embossed out of or into the surface of the box like actual dominos , so that it would be a bit more apparent to that they were intended to be read that way after more than a few seconds of investigation

    This was actually fairly easy, because the first domino was so weird and I remembered that here we have the train seat numbers also in Braille and I remembered that mark, which indicates a number.

    It would have been more possible if he called it the blind domino box or the dot box as these can at least be associated with the solution since very few use braille. Well at least those of us who puzzle as most puzzles would be impossible without sight.

    I though the solution was 7 - 3 - 4, the obvious number of dots (i ignored the first one, I thought it was just to show you that the dominos were the clue for the 3 locks) so I guessed wrong. :)

    the top on is 3 o clock position middle 1oclock and bottom 2oclock. only one the first three dominoes is the bottom number of dots shown, this is my prediction for how to open the box

    I know I'm late to this video, but I think I might know the code. There are 3 circles, and 4 domino pieces. In between the pieces are 3 spaces. Since the numbers on the pieces don't make sense in how they are arranged. it might be an add and redact kind of math puzzle. If you add the dots of the 2 left domino pieces on top of each other, and remove the dots where there are 2, you are left with 5. If you do the same to the middle 2 pieces, it makes 4, and the 2 right ones make 7. The circles represent clocks because of the 12 on top and 6 on the bottom, so the 5, 4 and 7 are probably the time on those clocks.

    I didn't realize it was braille, but what I did see was a 9, 7 and 5 abstractly hidden within the dots. Something tells me that this was intended to throw people off because while the numbers are correct, they are not in the correct order.

    I thought Braille as you were first examining the dominos, but assumed all eight halves would be characters and discarded the idea since the 3 isn't a valid configuration.
