Just took this line with my friend. We Really enjoyed it. This was also our first time riding Amtrak, so that was a fun experience. I would definitely do this line again in the future
Thanks for the upload. Have to say I was expecting the train to take the lake shore route where major population centres like Evanston, Kenosha and Racine are situated.
The official guide from July 1954 has this same-named train, then operated by the private railroad known by its nickname, The Milwaukee Road carded to do the southbound Milwaukee-Chicago segment in 1hr. and 25 minutes . This train back then originated in the Twin Cities (MInn-St. Paul, MN) with only Glenview as the sole intermediate stop on this MW-CHI segment. It operated on almost this same route with diesel power and the average speed listed was 62.4 mph for the entire route from the Twin Cities. Better than Amtrak?
My bucket list is to go in every continental US state. Never been in Wisconsin or Michigan. I´m guilty of bad mouthing Chicago, but the hub in Chicago Union Station is ideal for exploring the upper Midwest cities.
Interesting ride, but it would be so much better if you made some comment. Name the stations where the train stopped, show th3 speed at which the train was travelling, state the name of various bodies of water, lake such and such, rivers that were crossed, etc.
I appreciate your feedback, but I usually leave that info in the description for the sake of video quality. Some people, my self included, find constant talking throughout the video to be bothersome.

Taking this tomorrow, really excited
This is one of the relatively decent Amtrak lines
Best in the Midwest !
If you made the video THIS week, most of the snow would be gone :)

The old tracks around this area inspired my layout
Fun fact: This is now the shortest route in the entire Amtrak system.

When Amtrak Hiawatha meets Metra's Milwaukee District North Line....

Hiawatha Line best on-time route segment in midwest region !
Im taking this same route, how early should I arrive to the station?
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
Is the train whistle/horn really that loud inside the passenger car?
Depends on how close you are to the leading engine
I was sitting directly behind the leading engine at the front of the car, so yes the horn is definitely louder.
I’m 4 miles away and hear it every hour and a half 🛤️
Hi are there power sockets at the seats? Thanks!

do Hiawatha trains use track 28 out of the south concourse now?
is there a viewing car on this route? are you allowed in with a coach ticket?
No
I heard they don't do trains from Chicago to Milwaukee anymore. They put you in a bus instead, is that true ??
The train still runs.
My ears can attest . They were running tonight
