My hometown! Milwaukee! I love this video! Reminds me of when I was younger and rode the train all the time to visit the great city of Chicago. Too bad that Amtrak raised there fares so much. Thank you for the amazing video!
@@aycc-nbh7289 well, I haven’t taken the metra before as Amtrak has always had a direct line from Milwaukee. While I believe the metra only runs to Kenosha. But I think the Amtrak is easier to access if you start in Milwaukee rather than driving down to Kenosha for the metra
Hey! This brought up a great memory! I once rode from Chicago to Milwaukee on a run in the evening, stayed the night at a hotel in Milwaukee, then on the next day I went back to Chicago by bus. That was in the summer of 2008 during my vacation. Then I spent the night two other times, once at a motel in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood of Chicago and once at a motel in Aurora. That was a vacation I took by MYSELF! That was an experience I will never forget and one that I will never repeat in my lifetime unfortunately.
Depending on your level of claustrophobia, CUS can be a really cool departure from a murky cave or a painful one when the lateral movements beat your ribs to a pulp every time you go over a switch. I like taking the Empire Builder from St.Paul to Milwaukee. Their art museum is awesome and if you’re a railfan who likes to take pictures you can’t beat hiking around the Valley.
A very nice video. You did a great job filming from those Horizon Fleet coaches. I recently did a film on the Pacific Surfliner from Old Town San Diego which uses the only remaining Horizon fleet cars in California service. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for recording the Metra. Got to hear that good ole' hum from the F40PH engines. I wished Amtrak still used them as locomotives instead of non-powered control unis.

55:30, not necessarily relative to the video, but this building is the RecPlex and is one of the largest in the US. every January, I have a swim meet here for teams across the state, It has a ten lane 50 meter pool, it’s Interesting because I never knew these tracks came so close to it. Love the video, your the only one to show the ENTIRE thing! :)
I have been on this route I even made a video of it. But I didn't make it a full route video great work but how were you able to hold the camera to film it? I can barely hold my smartphone to film my videos.
Out of the local Commputer expresses you've been on (like LA's Metrolink or Chicago's Metra) which one is your favorite? (I'm not talking about light or heavy rail like subways or Els... :) )
Scooby Carr So would you recommend this over the UP-N Metra service for Wisconsinites commuting to Chicago? It is cheaper and more frequent, but also slower.
bro crazy how much has changed in milwUkee. all those abandoned buildings are all renovated now. even the big ugly post office you go under before reaching the station is going to be a big hige mall
Fun fact, in 2018 (and maybe 2019), the Hiawatha had the best overall on time performance on the whole Amtrak System, with 95% of passengers arriving to their destination on time.
No it's not. Just after it crosses another rail at 41:04, it becomes single track up to around the state line, where it becomes double track again. Metra MDN line uses the same track up to Fox Lake, where that line ends.
I bet in days gone by this service was probably faster. Still good speeds with so many crossings including foot crossings at the stations between platforms
The West side of the train is the wrong side to view the stops (?). Sorry, I did NOT like your video, I really did not see much. I took the Empire Builder so I saw much more sitting on the East side. JMS

Which part of milwaukee is better to live as I’m gonna settle there and I’m from India

@@aycc-nbh7289 unless you live in Kenosha, Amtrak is much easier to take.
I have taken this route so many times. This is one of the routes that I take on my way down south.
Nice! Like the occasional speed updates.

I rode Chic-Milw on the Empire Builder. It was a fun ride!
Nice
Amazing, they only slowed down a bit for the diamonds between Grayland and Mayfair.
Listen to the cackling hen @24:25, LOL. They are having a good time.
Looooooove your video.

Oddly satisfying
Would be nice if you included the trainstationn names you passed for those of us who are from the Chicagoland area. Just a thought

It’s in kilometers per hour.

I filmed 4 amtraks on this line at county line g check it out
Gee the platform ar Chicago sure could use a BULL DOZER !!
How bored am I that I'm watching a random guy get on a train (jk I'm taking hiawatha tomorrow and I wanted to see what it's like)

Is this line completely doubletracked?
Yes
No it's not. Just after it crosses another rail at 41:04, it becomes single track up to around the state line, where it becomes double track again. Metra MDN line uses the same track up to Fox Lake, where that line ends.
PublicTransportationBelgium Yep it is. From Pacific Junction A5 in Chicago to Union Station is three and four tracks.
Actually the train crossed over to the normally southbound track from Rondout into Wisconsin. An aerial view will confirm double track the whole way.
I bet in days gone by this service was probably faster. Still good speeds with so many crossings including foot crossings at the stations between platforms
Speedometer says 123. Was that in mph or in kph?
kph
Sergei Gaidukov So does the train ever exceed 80 MPH (130 KPH)?
Have ridden it, its not much
I'm feeling sick
what is the speed limit on this line?
Barron Ingram 79 mph is top speed
Free Wi-Fi is not going to satisfy my hunger for food. No food service ill canceled that trip.
Is this all 79 mph track or is it one of the routes they're upgrading to 110 mph?
This is all 79 iirc
