Hi Christianne - appreciate your travel vlogs they are informative, fun and "professionally" filmed. Glad you quickly recognized that Tulum is not an ideal place to stay if you care about being proficient in Spanish. There are too many english speaking locals and tourists that make speaking english more covenient. Mexico is full of beautiful landscapes, people, culture, tradition, cuisine, art, history and language. I trust you'll work your way to more regions of Mexico that share a more traditional and common experience. Continued success and happy travels - enjoy the relaxation in Tulum, it's a good time for that.

Something that helped me with getting fluent in Spanish was living with locals (I moved to Medellin, Colombia because of your videos actually haha). After 3-6 months of living with them my Spanish got to a B1 level without lessons, so I highly recommend that for getting better with the language! Just my opinion :)

This is the best and most compelling explanation of VPN I have ever heard! I love that you not only explain what it is, but also give examples of when you would need to have VPN. One of me pet peeves in life is when people explain something, but don't provide context as to what situation you would need the information.
My only gentle criticism is that sometimes you drift off in the overexplanation/talk to the camera, and the video lags a bit, but thanks for a little glimpse into a fascinating country!! Safe travels and more video!

I'm an expat in Czech Republic and have the same issue with people responding in English when I speak to them in Czech. I highly recommend when they respond in English just keep speaking Spanish anyways. They usually switch to english trying to be polite, so continuing in their language will show you are trying to learn rather than just assuming they don't understand English.

Lovely and very informative video! I'm excited to see more Mexico content from you. 😍✨ Your apartment is small but looks so cozy, and to be honest with so many people working from home right now you're def not the only one with not-so-optimal working space 😂

Thank you for sharing your experience ☺️ I want to let you know that baggers in supermarkets rely on tips since they don't get paid. It is something I didn't know until my Mexican mom informed me about. Much love to you

Ah interesting! They don't have baggers in the supermarkets in Tulum! But perhaps in other areas?

Use that Mr. Coffee. I have the exact same one, and its sooooo easy to use! Plus they have some great Mexican coffee down there! I know the Yucatan region very well and a couple other places that would be less expensive but really nice, as well as less touristy, would be Merida (3 hr bus ride west of Tulum, and Chetumal (2.5 hrs south of Tulum) on the same highway, on the border with Belize. If you're working on your Spanish, those come highly suggested, and much less expensive. Even Progresso would be good, and that's a 25 min bus ride from Merida. Anyway, enjoy Tulum. I'll be down there in 4 weeks.

As a person from the United States I'm going to say that Mexico is doing a better job than we are.
    And I love Tulum.

Love your videos. Our family is traveling to Tulum next month. We visit Mexico yearly - our favorite place to vacation. You might like Puerto Moreles. Great lil town, cheaper prices and sits right on the ocean. It is between Cancun & PDC. Can't wait to see where all you travel around Mexico...stay safe!

My son did it twice and loved it, the cost of living is massive in Bali so please consider this prior to booking x

I lived in Holbox, a beautiful little island, for a few months. I highly recommend to go and at least visit it. There is a collectivo from playa to chiquila and then you can catch the ferry.

You should check out Mérida, Mexico while you're still in the Yucatán! It's rated the 2nd safest city in North America. I haven't been yet, but I've been planning a 4 month backpacking trip through Mexico (after things get back to normal) and Mérida looks amazing! It seems pretty easy to find an affordable studio with pool access and it's about a 40 min drive to Progresso Beach.
Also, thanks for inspiring me to start learning Spanish again! I've been taking classes since June and now I'm conversational :)
