I live and work in Manhattan and it still cracks me up every time I see the pneumatic tubes in older buildings here, like a time capsule. Loved that little element!
The perfume bottles themselves are beautiful, and their presentation in this video is exquisite. These videos not only relax me, they transport me to another era 💚🛍️
That’s precisely how and why I decided to create this channel. I have watched ASMR videos for upwards of 12 to 13 years, and every now and then I toyed with starting my own channel. It took me a while before I realized I could use my love of mid century modern style and history to make ASMR videos. Glad you’re enjoying the channel. ☺️☺️☺️💚
You are the best! I am a product of the bygone era, (being born in 1943) and really enjoy and remember a lot of the content. Such wonderful and relaxing ASMR! Also, your dresses are interesting. How did you become so interested in that time? I would love to know.
Hi there!! I grew up in the 60s and 70s, so my interest in the period is almost entirely based in nostalgia. My house is filled with MCM furniture and tchotchkes, and I was also a big fan of Mad Men. I’ve been watching ASMR for probably 13 years and in all that time, I toyed with starting my own channel but never did bc I knew I didn’t have anything unique to bring to the table. But then the 1960s connection dawned on me and I had my channel focus. ✨🍸 Thanks for asking!! Sherri 💚💚
Please never stop making videos! They are such wonderful journeys into a beautiful moment in time. All these things I’ve almost forgotten. (i’m in tears as I type this as it reminds me of my mother.). Thank you for bringing back those memories for me.❤❤
When I was growing up in the 80s, we had to do slide credit cards with carbon copy receipts. I think they were called knuckle busters. We would call the credit card company to get them okay'd and then we would mail in the slips for reimbursement! So crazy how my childhood was closer to the 60s than it is to now.
Although I'm too young to have lived in the 60s/70s, your videos remind me of movies from the time that have some great asmr moments. Thank you for your high quality videos! 5k subs isn't nearly enough
Hi Scarywaffles, fyi when I was growing up in the 70's, if I took my mom's department store credit card, I had to carry a hand-written note (which I always wrote) saying it was ok for me to use her credit card. 😉 Pretty ridiculous, right?
Thank you for this beautiful content ❤️ I've been an avid asmr watcher & listener for 13 years & your soft spoken is gold! You're doing an amazing job! Keep it up ❤
Wow! That charge card reader/contraption sure looks like quite a workout!! I really love the crinkle of the paper bags and receipts. The sights and sounds of this perfume counter make for a pleasant and soothing experience. And...Sherri, your voice comforts me. ❤
I love love that charge card imprinter so much. That deep, dull, grinding sound is (oddly) very satisfying to me. 😀😀 And I’m glad you enjoyed the video, Miss Kitty. I put a lot of work into this one. So happy you feel comforted by my voice. 💚💚💚
About 10 years ago, I worked for a company that refused to update its technology and we had to use one of those charge card contraptions to ring up customers at events. Our computers still had that DOS black screen with the green text interface. (I'm a millennial.) I love your videos!!
You do a fantastic job in setting the scene. I remember those perfume counters, they were out-of-reach ($) to me during the 1970's, so I had to buy drug store cologne. Finally, one Christmas I got several Halston cologne products, and I went perfume counter from then on 😊
Lovely to watch again Sherri. Beautiful collection of perfume flasks, they are works of art in themselves. I hope you have as much fun collecting and presenting as we do viewing and listening. Wonderful and nostalgic, as always I feel i can smell and touch, too. Thank you for giving me something nice to see while my eyes recover ❤ Sherri
Yes, I do have loads of fun finding my props. That’s without a doubt my favorite part of the process. Thanks for watching, Ian. I hope your eyes are doing just great. 😳😉💚
Ha! Not weird at all. That’s why I included it. My mom used to take me and my brother to the downtown department stores when we were kids. It’s such a vivid memory, watching the store clerks, use the pneumatic tubes, and hearing the swoosh and the thump. Thanks for watching! 😊
I love this one almost as much as the Avon one on a hot day where you're sipping the soda. I don't know what equipment you use to capture your sounds but they are heavenly. The papers, writing, soft speaking, it all picks up so clearly I love it!!
Ahh, thank you so much. Getting the sound right has been a long journey for me (watch one of my early ones and you’ll see what I mean 😬). Today, I use a Sennheiser MK4 condenser microphone and a Zoom H4n recorder. I absolutely love it.
This is so great!! Ahhhhhh, your hands and nails! Can remember all of these items from decades ago! If only people would slow down and be as particular and courteous like they were back then! Thank you for yesteryear!!❤❤❤❤ Mrs. J
A few years ago there was this video circulating in my TH-cam feed, a genuine video from the 60s showing how a very elegant lady is preparing custom pressed powder for her equally elegant client. It wasn't intended to be ASMR, but it had that effect on me, beside the sheer wholesomeness of watching it - the pretty little bottles, the red nail polish, the nimble fingers handling the face powder in cute boxes.. Back then I wished there was a whole channel with lots of similar videos, because the one in question was very short and just one. Today I am happy that I have found your channel, because the whole vibe and aesthetic of it is exactly like that video I am talking about - so soothing and pleasant to not just listen but also watch!
I know!! I found it randomly at an antique mall. No idea about its original use, but I grabbed it up for my pharmacy videos. And then it seemed perfect for Sterns’ perfume counter, too.
What a superb video - such detail. Thank you so much. Please do make more - you’ve got a few more bottles there that would be great to use! I’d love to se more.
That Sterns charge card!!!! My grandmother still kept hers until she passed. I held it in my hand once and was ashtonisher by the smaller size!! You took us to a place 40 year olds didnt get to experience. The Real Shopping Experience!! 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Yup. Everyone had charge cards, different ones for different stores. My brother and I were always fascinated by the pneumatic tube system. I dreamed of one day being a store clerk myself and using it. 😂😂
Sherri! You are incredible! I am in love with all your videos. Thank you for doing this! I love all the thought you’ve put into them. It doesn’t go unnoticed! We are so grateful!
Born in the late 50s, again I have to tell you you take me back to a beautiful and simple time in my life for everything was just so. Also, I would love that perfume with the gardenia Jasmine and Sandalwood.😅❤
You have an incredible amount of vintage stuff!!! I was thinking I remember all these things from when I was a child! And then I realized I am VINTAGE 😂

Right! I love those sounds too. All those old department stores in the 60s enjoyed a long life before then, many all the way back into the late 1800s or early 1900s.
Had to stop by when I saw my mom's perfume-Shalimar. It smells sooo amazing on her. I remember shopping in Atlanta at Richs department store. I loved it and I adore this video! Thank you!

As a teenager in the mid to late 70s I worked in a department store and had forgotten about the experience of handling a credit card sale--this video brings back vivid memories! Waiting for approval to come back through the tube while trying to chat up the customer who was anxious to get going was the worst!
One of my favorite places to visit the perfume counter at Stern's Department Store. I am always amazed with your vintage props. Wherever did you acquire the brass pneumatic tube? Thanks Sherri for another delight! ❤️
I found it on Etsy. Once I decided to do a department store set, I knew I had to have one, so I searched high and low. It just seems like yesterday that my brother and I were shopping with my mom at the local department store. We were always fascinated by that whole pneumatic tube system. Can you imagine being one of the girls who received all those containers and routed them to their correct tube? 😂😳😵💫
I worked at a Sears makeup and fragrance counter when I came of age in the mid-90s, and we were still trained on how to use the charge card imprinters, just in case the electric registers went down for some reason. I immediately recognized Shalimar at the opening of the video, because I’m an old soul and it’s the first one I put on my Christmas list for my beau back then. Still one of my very favorites. My mother, born in the 40s, asked me how I knew about Shalimar. I told her that a book character that I liked wore it. She was more partial to Elizabeth Taylor fragrances herself, but I do remember the two of us sharing a bottle of L’Air du Temps that we bought at JCPenney. I’m a new subscriber- love your style!
So lovely! I loved the card stamper (the best is the roll over kind). I do wish you used the stapler sound (idea: record the sound of the stapler on sacrificial paper) then add the sound in to the video (and you can decrease it's volume if it's too loud). I love the style of this and the old register.
Great idea about the stapler sound. Sometimes it’s hard to get the mic close enough to a particular object without getting it into the camera frame. ☺️☺️☺️
This is great! Love the style, dresses are amazing, the scene is beautiful! Just love midcentury vibe. Im curious if it was like that. I mean for me it looks so unfamiliar 🙂 thank you for what you are doing! Id like to know more about this time and your nostalgia 🔥this is so unique
Generally speaking, it was like that. Department stores were a big deal--and people actually dressed up to go shopping. In the 70s things loosened up quite a bit, but in the 60s, there was still something of a formality to it.
That’s quite the compliment. I love love love Mary. She’s so mesmerizing (especially her library videos) and I just love her sense of humor. Thank you. 💚💚💚

This is perfection. 🤍😭 so absolutely elegant and decedent! I’m 22 and shalimar is my favorite perfume for winter, I am so deeply thrilled I discovered your channel, it is just incredible! 🤍🤍🤍
I remember tubes being sent via a wire up to the Mezzanine where the credit dept. was in a small town store in the 1960s. In fact, sears,in the local mall, also had a mezzanine for the credits dept. that was open to the public to apply for furniture loans etc. but no tubes at the time.
☺️☺️☺️ Yes, really! When my brother and I were kids in the 60s, my mom would take us to one of the downtown department stores where they used pneumatic tubes all the time. I used to think how fun it would be to be old enough to work in a department store and use one. 😂😂 Big dreams, right!?

You like my little Appalachian accent? Thank you! I can’t hear it, of course, but I always wonder what it sounds like to others. 💚💚💚
@@MidModMeridianASMR sounds great, like Barbara Kingsolver
That’s so funny because I don’t think Barbara Kingsolver has an accent. 😂😂
Pneumatic tubes!!
👌 Such a feast for the eyes as well as ears. 🙏👏

Perfect! 😴😴😴
Always ask Sherri to destroy the carbon paper after your purchase. You don't want anyone to steal your charge card number.
😂😂
Nice job!!
Thanks!

Thanks!! 💚💚
What is the little tube called when you send it to be approved called please?
It’s a pneumatic tube.
Some times we said "charge plate" or even "charge-a-plate"!
Yup. I remember it as “charge plate” but some of the actual devices were named “charge-a-plate.”
Oh, and your profile picture is EPIC. 🍸🚬
New Sub here, you are my new fave 😊
Yay! Thank you! ☺️☺️☺️💚
❤❤❤ love this style so much!! Did you really have to put the receipts in a tube and send it somewhere for approval?
You made a better one. Well done.!!
Ha!! Thank you for noticing. ☺️☺️☺️✨💚
This makes me so sad and homesick 😢
Oh!!! I’m so very sorry. 🥺😔
Kids, that’s how vendors used to have to accept credit cards.
😂
