It's hard to work with with a 13 inch monitor that doesn't cooperatives very well when trying to connect to another monitors, like my last Dell laptop had 3 usb ports, an SD card port and a dedicated hdmi port and yeah power cable had it's own port.

This computer is a beast for students and professionals who need silence, portability, and battery life, all for an affordable price. I have both this model and a gaming computer as well and you cannot take the gaming laptop out for more than 1 hour without it dying. My opinion is that this computer is perfectly designed to fit the needs of the market share it satisfies and tbh if you need performance you should get a windows desktop with a decent graphics card because from my experience gaming laptops suck.
@@jacobw3314 It's affordable relative to the intended use. I use mine for 8+ hours every day for work and school so the price point is justified. For a casual user it may be quite expensive. There are pc alternatives that have slightly lower price points but they sacrifice a degree of cross platform configurability (assuming a person uses an iPhone) along with, at times, questionable build quality. Affordability is ultimately relative and determined based on user requirements and the ability of a device to meet those requirements comparative to other competing products. I have a very positive opinion of my device and consider its cost money well spent.
I just bought the m1 Air for school and Thing is hell of a beast! I returned my new ASUS laptop because the battery life is crap and sometimes it’s laggy on adobe programs. Don’t buy the M2 or M3 if you want to save money just get the M1.

If the games are supported, like in your case, Mac is going to be a monster. Beautiful design, good keyboard, and trackpad (not that you're going to be using that) and high efficiency processor.You could probably play on it for 2x longer than on Windows with slightly downgraded but still good graphics. Then there's the Macbook Pros, which could probably pump out 120 fps on 1440p with M3 Max, supplemented with a few big power banks, If Mac had games, it would probably rule the portable laptop gaming segment. So I would conclude that Mac is the near perfect gaming device that just lacks games.

The ports aren’t an issue, I can just have a nice dock at my desk, which for me is better than having everything attached to the laptop directly because it’s only one cable. I also don’t mind only having one display output. Having the internal display and 1 external is plenty for me. And as for gaming, we’ll I don’t really game so idc
Honestly, I didn't really care about games when buying my laptop, I wanted long battery and for it to be silent because I'm super sensitive to sound. In my case I got the M2 one because its efficiency cores are way faster than the M1's. Surprisingly the IPC of that CPU's cores is so high it sometimes beats my Ryzen 7 3700X that draws 50W instead of 5W for the same job.
I went from a mid 2015 MacBook Pro to this just because I wanted a decent video editing/streaming laptop for as low a price as I could get. The only thing I really miss is the abundance of ports. The extendo is on the way though. 🤘🏽
I bought myself an M2 Air, but I’ve had to also buy myself a gaming PC for at home, the Air can only be a portable machine since macOS isn’t daily driver ready for me and game support is non existent. Plus the STUTTERING in the UI

I’ve owned this M1 MacBook Air for 3 years. Still a beast, battery still amazing, I use it for work and studies. I’ve been a Mac user for over a decade and this by far the best Mac I have ever owned. I don’t ever see myself even buying a MacBook Pro that’s how good it is for me personally as I commute a lot.
My biggest issue is the compatibility between Android sharing. When I share some of my photos from my phone to my Mac I have to use the internet to transfer photos. It's not as seamless as Airdrop.
you can kind of cheat the 1 extrenel monitor by using side car and connceting the ipad to a display while have the mac pluged into a display i do it sometimes but janky but works
@hardwired. m1 macbook air. I have the apple USB adapter where I plug in 1 hdmi cable for the first monitor. Then the second monitor has a USB to hdmi adapter. Second monitor only works if you launch display link manager.
Also have two externals for my m1. Which is in clam shell mode. My Plugable 13 in 1 satisfies the lack of ports and allows me to drive the two externals!
You can connect that monitor. I have used 2 externals from my M1 air. Haven’t tried more / or wireless. Worst part is that it’s so thin keyboard can bend from carrying it a lot. Silly powerful at 35w! Lot of games now and can use steamlink to stream from pc
I do have the same machine and i replaced my 2011 MacBook Pro with it. Only ”issue” so far are the ports but i do have other machines to use SD cards etc. I did buy the usb-c to usb adepter and the lack of usb 3 was biggest issue for me because i do use alots of external drives etc. Problem fixed for 25€ and i am actually enjoying the machine alot. It does beat alot of my machines in cpu power and that is the reason i bought it.

Gaming is non existent pretty much for any apple computer. I don’t get the hate on the port selection since you need NOTHING extra to actually run this laptop. Now IF you want to connect one or two extras you will need a dongle like a 4usb to one thunderbolt and the other port is free or reserved for a thunderbolt monitor cable which will also charge your laptop. It’s a genius laptop design I’m not moving away from it any time soon.

I’d have to disagree bro. I’ve used windows laptops/desktops all my life up until earlier this year and Mac has been a game changer. Especially considering I’ve got an iPhone/AirPods etc. so everything works really nicely together.

You can get games like Minecraft, CSGO, World of Warcraft, etc. But yes, Games like Fortnite or any newer big 1st party games won’t work on Mac. The games that do work run pretty well it’s just that there’s no game support for Mac. To answer your question, it’s a bad experience

Just the two ports are my issue. Been using mine since 2020 and it’s my daily driver for after effects animations, large page layouts and photoshop.

In terms of power, they are basically identical. But if you want the nicer design, go for the M2 at $1100. However, the M1 is almost always on sale for about $800

That’s a point I didn’t really touch on here too. The M chips are already 3 years old and there’s still a lot of compatibility issues.
I use my computer on my lap (On the train, bus etc), since Intel computers get really hot, I just gotta stick with the m series just for a cool and nice laptop.

I’d have to disagree bro. I’ve used windows laptops/desktops all my life up until earlier this year and Mac has been a game changer. Especially considering I’ve got an iPhone/AirPods etc. so everything works really nicely together.

- Ports are a valid complaint, but as a student I personally don’t use them much outside of charging.
- I haven’t felt the need to connect a second display outside of chrome casting to my TV, but this is more of a personal thing
- Mac gaming is super underrated, this thing is an emulation beast with OpenEmu, RPCS3, AetherSX2, and Slippi for Smash Bros
Mac is good at gaming. It just doesn’t have the opportunity to run any cuz of the software

You can get games like Minecraft, CSGO, World of Warcraft, etc. But yes, Games like Fortnite or any newer big 1st party games won’t work on Mac. The games that do work run pretty well it’s just that there’s no game support for Mac. To answer your question, it’s a bad experience
