I worked for Honda and a kid brought his 3 month old type r civic in with a misfire, put the computer on it fault code data said engine had revved to 22000rpm! Turns out he shifted from fifth to second at 90mph. The replacement engine was not covered under the warranty 🤣🤣🤣

@@NinjaPickups pretty much. As it was a face-lift type r which had only just been released there weren't any second hand engines available. They couldn't afford a new engine (at the time all type r parts were sold by Honda at a huge mark up so people were discouraged from making fake type r cars) so the owner took the car from us and I guess they sold it.

Bmw have a dogleg gearbox where 1st gear is in 2nd position maybe just maybe could've been one of those

How do people mess up a 3 to 4 shift literally the easiest shift
Its normally 2nd to first, I've done it once but years of track days allowed me to instantly push the clutch back in before it fully engaged, saving the engine and gearbox.
Because they pull so hard downwards to try and get into 4th asap that (assuming it's left hand drive) they involuntarily pull toward them and sometimes is enough to put it in 2nd instead of 4th

Big props to these dudes for doing this stuff on the track no matter how bad they mess up. At least they may learn something in the process. The majority of the population out there seems to struggle daily driving with even an automatic and the "badasses" show us how it's done by racing on public roads.
Most of these 'badasses' love the hobby but don't have bottomless funds to spend on track days, track licences and tyres. Very narrow minded thing to say, you can have a lot of safe fun on the public road

CK_32 I sometimes do intentionally shift 3rd to 2nd gear, but only when I’m in low rpms on my 3rd gear and I only use it to slow the car down by engine instead of braking

When I first got my licence I was getting off of a highway, 90 km/h (It feels like 200 on a panda) when I got on the off-ramp I wondered why fourth gear was so hard to get into... It was second gear, to this day I don't know how that didn't immediately dump the contents of my transmission on the ground

I was floored+slam shifting and went from 1st to 2nd and then back to 1st (mistakenly) in my 1st car- a 1983 Mazda GLC sedan. The entire front end bounced and hopped repeatedly before I could get it back out of 1st. Car was fine. They really made them tough back then. Car had over 100k miles at the time (was hand-me-down from family).

Dont really understand the point of wearing racing gloves with short sleeves. Also trying to force your car into a gear should be a clue you got the gear shift in the wrong spot.
Racing/driving gloves improve grip between your hands and the steering wheel. If you're doing a lot of intense driving, your palms will sweat and the potential for the steering wheel to slip through your hands increases.
That's the theory anyways. I've not tried it myself, so I can't really vouch for or deny the effectiveness of it.

Driving gloves come from wooden steering wheel days as far as I can tell, unless you got a slippery wheel I think they're just for looks
RHD cars you can have a more favourable left hand movements shifting from 2nd to 3rd - i call it palming the stick, instead of just guiding the knob from the top. But when you are rushing, things go wrong regardless.

Got my first car about a year ago and it’s a manual. I think I’ve done a 3rd to 2nd shift once and never again. In fact I didn’t even know what a money shift was until this video. Now I fear doing it cause I shift really fast so I don’t lose a lot of speed and I don’t want to destroy my engine lol

I went from 3rd at the top of the redline to 2nd on my 2018 camaro ss. The dealership said it was fine when I had them check it. I cri. It is a painful lesson. I still run it hard once every time I drive it lol. But I hope she’s ok. She’s strong for handling it like a champ.

Reminds of this one time I was driving to work after not getting much sleep so obviously, I was a bit groggy. I was trying to shift from fourth to fifth but I accidentally went back to third. Luckily no real damage was done to the car since I was only going about 45 mph but none the less, the hard jolt when I let go of the clutch was one hell of a wake up call.
Now thats a lot of damage.
Here’s a tip, if your shifter won’t let you shift into a gear, YOU’RE PROBABLY SHIFTING INTO THE WRONG ONE, take 1:27 for example, see how he tries to shift into 1st but it doesn’t let him? THEN HE FORCES IT AND IT BLOWS UP!
