Loved the whole series mate! Yes it’s not for everyone, and the heart ache when you crash never gets easier. But the overriding dive to meet my goal always draws me back in. The road is the number 1 thing with speed runs. You can spend as much money and time on an RC car but not many of us could build a road to run it on. Loved work work on this again. Good stuff.
Glen love your content , dont change a thing , all your videos are entertaining , i especially like this series . Speed runs are exciting. I get to experience the thrill of driving an RC at incredible speeds , and the best part is , i dont have to worry about any epic crashes where i destroy my cars , im leaving that part up to you as well , im sure the rush will be the same just much safer on my end , hahahahah . Hope you enjoyed your long weekend in lock down , stay safe buddy.
Absolutely blown away by this Glenn. Amazing. Who needs Netflix when you have this quality of entertainment. Sorry to see the damage caused, like you Glenn,I’m not about wrecking them for speed. Cheers, really enjoyed it. 😊👍🏻
I was waiting for the car to spontaneously combust, that was way faster than that car was intended to go . I feel your pain when you crash . Enjoyed the video , keep em coming Glenn .
I found all 3 videos not only entertaining but very informative. I have been out of R’cing for years and know nothing about 2s or 3s, brushless etc so was and eye opener. 👍
Tamiya just makes the coolest box arts of their kits. Lunchbox and Avante were my favorite and I remember seeing them up on the wall at my local hobby shop for the first time...Oh my
This was a great series. Knew this motor would be a monster. I’m guessing close to 70mph in good weather and perfect tires with that gearing. Need a nice long wide parking lot to run in. Like a large mall lot. You showed that Tamiya cars can take abuse and crashes.
Thanks Glenn, I really enjoyed that series. That last run was amazing and you could tell it had a bit more to go had the conditions been much better. My only negative comment if you do speed runs again is dont put the top speed on the video cover, it kinda spoils it knowing what its going to do from the start. I get you probably do it to get more views but it does spoil it a little. However still awsome and very interesting. What a cool car. Cheers my friend. Gauranga!
Great stuff mate! Loved the series so much I bought a TA05 to try it myself! Just hope it turns up from China before they start playing football again, re open the cinema & fill up the massive empty car park at the Oxford stadium near my house.
Been a great series, can’t wait to see what’s next 👍 maybe some track based handling or set up series would be cool. Either way been great and can’t wait to see the next video you put out.
Ha ha. Nice. I went out yesterday with my 6yo son. I had my old associated TC3 w/ upgraded diffs and 5.5T and 3S thinking I'm cool showing off to my son who's already scared shitless enough of the fast speeds. We were in a really big car park lot type space but still not big enough. I spun and the back of the car ran directly into a curb at about 70mph. Broke the chassis!
Great vid Glenn, I agree the last two runs would have made me nervous of breakages. It'll be interesting to see its condition if you do a rebuild. It certainly performed well for a standard... ish kit.
Welcome to 60mph with a Tamiya lol.. this brings back many memories for me from a few years ago. It's certainly not as easy as some people think! The Nimh will not be able give the motor enough power (current)..hence the slow speed.
The soldering tool you are asking about is called" The Jigs Up" . I just got one. It is great for soldering. I have always had problems soldering all of my connectors but not anymore. It has alligator clips to hold wires and special ports to solder everything else, even bullet connectors.
That last wipe out was gnarly. I know what you mean about road conditions, I live in Michigan and our roads are horrible as well. I don't do much RC on the road because of that reason, is all dirt, grass or in the woods or a rock garden with a crawler. Thanks for your time and effort!👊
That was cool so hard to pull them up especially with that oneway sorry to see it cartwheel but minor damage ,I guess the upside of long wet periods is softer grassy areas excellent series loved it from stat to finish Two big thumbs up again ; )
I got a brushless motor analyzer. I also ordered about 15 old brushed motors. Along with the brushed motor lathe. I’m trying to get the courage up to make some videos and perhaps do this type of video on my TT-02 that I built a few months ago and have not driven. I also have lots of hop ups that I haven’t put including metal diff and ring and pinion gears.
Hi Glen, I have a 12800 kv orion 2.5 brushless motor, its ridiculous at 90000 plus rpm, but have found 4.5 works well for run time and heat. Used in an rc10 worlds, could only measure up to 50 to 55mph but the tires kept coming off. Good video as always
Wow - love it My only comment would be that eBay special looks to be the smaller sized one (with the cooking veins) so only 3000kv The smooth goolRC ones are the 4300kv motors. I’d just check what you had installed. I love my goolRC combos :) Keep up the good work
Nice one Glenn, enjoyed the series start to finish. I have to agree with slower rcing, I've recently been putting slower motors in my cars and getting into the handling more. How about doing an MF01X and seeing how capable it can be as a mixed rallycross car. Old Porsche 959 and shell fits too. Cheers
Nice! And fast! In my ta 05 is a 3.5 t turnigy Motor installed. 10500 kv. But i drive it only on 2s, with a reel small pinon , M 0.4 22 teeth. Not the ordinary chassie, IFS Damper System, and graphite upper and lower deck.but i am not into speed runs.just racing against my Brother and his trf 418. Its one of my favorite cars ! Greetings
I was thinking, if I wanted to build a super fast car I would do something different. I would do this with a simple pan car. I mean, pan cars have a spur gear and a pinion gear and that is it. They also have very little of a suspension system. That means that you would need a very smooth surface to drive on. When I used to race, the best pan cars were made by Team Associated and Bolink. Not sure if either of these cars even exist today. I just got a Tekin 5.5T motor and a Tekin RSX PRO speed control. I also got a Tekin T-190 servo and a Hotwire adaptor. I even got the fans for this speed control. I am just looking for a good pan car to try this idea on. I am aware that Kyosho does make some on road pan cars. They are just to complicated for this and are also 1/12 scale instead of 1/10 scale. I do have a Kyosho 1/12 scale pan car. What are your thoughts on this idea?
Glenn, could you not find an industrial estate with a quiet, long, quality surfaced road to do speed runs on ? I'm shocked that over there in such a huge country as Canada, you're struggling for a decent long road pal!?? You're a UK bloke like me, we're even from the same area ( North West England ) so you know as well as i do how small and compact/congested our country is compared to Canada! lol! So surely there must be a decent long road somewhere pal? Great series of vids Glenn, really enjoyed the journey and the progress and knowledge gained from your endeavours! Biggest surprise for me is the 30+mph speed increase between standard Tamiya 540 silver can to the 5750/6.5T B'Less motor! Amazing! Sorry for long message Glenn! Wes, Liverpool, UK.
If I may, ahem! .....Look at thaaaaaaaat! God I hate wiring. Good effort Glenn. You are spot on with your observations I think. What would maybe help is a longer wheelbase and more aero/a splitter/diffuser. But how far do you go?

That was seriously quick.
Loved the sound as it flew past on 3s.
I completely agree. There is indeed a speed threshold where the risk and the stress go up..... and the fun starts to go down.
The barrel of the soldering iron is good for the heatshrink to avoid heating the terminal block plastic and fouling the tip:)
Great series Glenn. Amazing speeds and really interesting to see the step up as you changed the motors. Makes me think what could I achieve lol

Great series Glenn, gutted about the crash at the end.
I feel for you because of the crash big man
But you sent that car where it was never ment to go ,
Which is brilliant great effort big man 💪🏽❤️👍🏽
I didn't realise Tamiya made polaris missiles?? hahah! Really enjoyed that series Glen.

Loved it Glenn that was fast 👍
Glen well done controlling that . It was like a blur 🇬🇧👍👍
Great series !!

Great series Glenn, thanks for the entertainment mate, shame to see it a bit busted up👍🦘🇦🇺
Nice job brotha 👍
Hey Glen I tryed a 5.5 turn motor in my to-t2 model I had change the tires to a softer compound tires for better traction

I remember the Pro10 cars back in the late 80’s, they would make perfect speed run cars today 😎
@@TAMIYALegends Maybe they will make them again.
@@alfredyost7972 Corally does 1/8 pan cars, that might be fun.
Noice, I was a bit anxious watching this run, things got a bit loose!

That sounds awesome! Great run, shame about the prang but at least it wasn't too bad. Very impressive! 👌🔥💪
Over 100kms is nuts to drive almost impossible to drive, the space and road smoothness you need is so hard to find, but well done bro thats awesome
Wow that’s fast, love to see a similar series with something like a grasshopper/hornet
th-cam.com/video/sYJ0PxLQtkM/w-d-xo.html

Too quick for me 😂👊🏻
Not sure how I missed this one and I was watching this series
Yeah unfortunately this one didn’t end well 😂😂😂
@@TAMIYALegends yeah Isaw that :)
Add a bit of timing and boost on that esc , it will wake it right up on 2s and 3s
"This thing is gonna take off guys" - Famous last words ^^
Half the saddle pack is only one cell. Therefore it's only 3.7 volts. That's why it everything was so slow.
Yes of course that makes sense, thanks for pointing that out Brian 👊🏻
You forgot to mention what combo you will finally choose for that car after all these tests !
Glenn that flys👌
If I may, ahem! .....Look at thaaaaaaaat!
God I hate wiring.
Good effort Glenn. You are spot on with your observations I think. What would maybe help is a longer wheelbase and more aero/a splitter/diffuser. But how far do you go?
That's a great looking rc very nice makes me so jealous ha ha ill get one someday but great lookin colour is lovely 👍
Add a splitter on the front of the car, it doesnt seem to have enough front downforce which is most likely what is making it behave weirdly

Hey 👋
Thanks Andrew unfortunately this is the first TA05 I’ve had so I can’t tell you which is the best one sorry buddy 😬

Mine is old, the frog with rx540vz motor
In my experience NiMH batteries don’t work properly in vehicles that pull a lot of amps. LiPo batteries with high c ratings tend to fair much better on fast brushless cars like this. I’d like to see you try using a gyro on the steering servo before giving up on speed runs. You should be able to reach top speed without having to worry much about crashing. The gyro will keep it going straight at ridiculous speeds. They are also great for drifting.

I believe you. Have you tried the XV-01 chassi? It's also a belt-drive but very well integrated and protected.

Also I'd like to add that tuning a 10 scale RC car to go past a 100 kmh isn't all that difficult. You did it with ease, and you also wrecked the car. This is a case of *speed out of control* which is a classic, causing deaths and collateral damage IRL.
