      MLS does this to specifically defend the referees (especially given the labor disputes). This is not objective outside media. Wait until a truly contentious decision is made that materially impacts the result of a meaningful match, Instant Replay will *always* side with the referee in that instance.

    • @johnmcgimpsey1825
      @johnmcgimpsey1825 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely! As long as the player that is getting the second caution doesn't go on to take part in the play after the advantage, why would you disadvantage the fouled team? My only problem as a ref (at a *much* lower level) is occasionally losing track of who should get the card if the advantage plays out for a while.

    • @MrCho14
      @MrCho14 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wouldn't say it's 'generally acceptable'. It's actually how referees at all levels are trained and how it is expected to happen. A referee who takes away a promising attack gets dinged in their assessment.

    1:20 is clearly just the natural action of the arm in the slide. The rule states, "A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation", this is just the result of the goalkeeper's movement. Same exact situation as the no-call at 3:56.

    • @christopherrupp1226
      @christopherrupp1226 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      these two examples are completely different in my book. I believe a natural position for a tackle is when your arms are on your sides or if you have one arm on the ground as support. The position Chicago's GK had was nothing natural. Look at how tackles are normally done and you will see that this position is not natural and makes the GK bigger

      Not to mention that stating that players "take the risk in their arm position", is a misrepresentation of what the rule actually says: the risk is not that it will hit their arm/hand but that it will do so AND that they will be penalized for it. This is by no means the first time Wiebe's shown how shaky his handle on the law is, either - he did it last year with the Paes red card for DOGSO against St Louis as well. This whole section of the laws is preceded by the qualifying phrase that "Not every touch of a player's hand/arm with the ball is an offence," and it exists precisely to prevent bad decisions on the pitch and bad armchair analysis.

    Chicago potential offside: There's a better angle in the highlights. While I still think there's a very good chance he's off, it's so close that the call on the field should stand.
    DC potential PK: There's also a good chance that he's offside so the hold doesn't matter. It's hard to stop on the kickpoint in this video. As with above, maybe too close to overturn, but can't really tell with what was shown.
    CLT potential PK: Attacker wasn't playing the ball right before that and took the back and forth pushing a little too far. Enough for a foul on the attacker? Close.
    Seattle 2nd yellow and the other one: You're 100% wrong on what you'd like to see. You should be looking for places to praise these referees. They did a good job of allowing the advantage and going back to card. That's taught at all levels and what should happen. I'm actually very amazed you would take this stance. I'm disappointed.

      It can be the case in a game of football sometimes, and the two called pens for Montreal looked like pretty spot on pens, the calls in favor of Chicago however, maybe 1 or 2 big calls where not wrong but lets say a lot of big calls that went Chicago's way where flat out wrong and VAR should have been more used and looked at to correct some of the desisions that where flat out wrong, that went Chicago's way. In the end it ended up affecting the result in a big way which is why a lot of people specifically Montreal fans are mad about it, that and the fact they had the game in the bag and should of had the game even more in the bag with that Brady red card that was not called, that would of had a huge effect on the game, even for the final 20 minutes when Montreal played down a man due to Edwards red card.

    Can you go to var to review for dogso

    • @MrCho14
      @MrCho14 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      VAR can recommend an on field review for DOGSO.
      ("go to var" is a misleading question as it's VAR who recommends a review; not the referee asking VAR to look at it. VAR looks at everything. Only certain things can they recommend being changed.)

  • @nathanc8478

    Third one, no red card. The ball was stopped from the leg and was going to bounce upwards. The attacking player was beyond the point where it could be considered DOGSO so it is not reviewable since no red card could possibly be thought of here by anyone who knows the laws of soccer.
    Fifth one, a player in an offside position cannot be awarded a penalty for being fouled. Dajome was offside on that kick.
    Sixth one, you say that defenders are taking risks with their actions and could be punished when you thought the GK on the third one should have seen red but here you say that the Miami defenders handball was incidental by the actions taken by the defender, negating the thought that defenders take risks by their actions. I agree with you on this one and you should have been saying the same thing for the GK one, but it shows the inconsistency in your choices of who to punish and who not to when you think the GK one is a problem and this one is not.

      No Cocarro could of easily curved his run and arrived before the defender, 85% chance that ends up in a goal, the ball was not going that wide and Coccaro was not going that fast, and was not that out of control that he would not have made it too the ball before the defender arrived and cleared the danger.

      @@nathanc8478 Look at 1:19 lol he is not passed the ball and note that that was when the ball already started slowing down quite a bit it was already making contact with the hand, if it does not make contact with the hand he is even more behind the ball at this moment, and even supposedly he was a bit behind which was not the case, he slows his run down gets to the ball and score easily regardless without the defenders being able to come back or put themselves in a good position to block the shot or defend him, big chance it ends up in a goal in that case but that was not even the case here, the ball would of been infront of him had it not touched the keepers hand, to the side a bit maybe but in front of him. If you freeze it at 1:19 it says everything.

    Do not see how you can punish the Chicago Goalkeeper or the Inter Miami defender! Both were trying to kick the ball and get a touch before they accidentally touch it with their hand. Both were in a natural motion!

    • @daniellizotte6110

      Was still denial of a goal scoring opportunity with a part of the body that is not supposed to be used in soccer. Its either the arm does not touch it and this ends up a goal, or the arm touches it and it ends a red card because without the arm that is not supposed to touch the ball 85 % sure that ends up as a goal, you dont just get to deny a goal like that with your arm and avoid a red card because it was in a natural position, that would be cheating in a way because in soccer the arm is not supposed to be even there or a part of the game. The rule for the arm in a natural position or not is when it does not deny a clear goalscoring opportunity I think, in this case it clearly does deny a goal scoring opportunity, and a situation that 85% of the time ends up as a goal. Denial of goalscoring opportunity in such a blatant case like this trumps, natural position of the arm or not, I think.
