Like...how can you NOT see the skin rippling/the defender's boot on Kamara's body...I just don't understand how you can miss that, and by 'you' I mean the commentator and VAR
Exactly what I thought. That was about as clear of a foul as you can get. And DEFINITELY a clear and obvious error by the ref that should have forced VAR to get involved. A complete failure all around.
I recently realized I have absolutely no idea what “clear and obvious” means.
3:48 The Referee did not call a penalty for Colorado. He called a direct free kick on the edge of the Penalty Area. The signal for a penalty is when the referee points to the spot with their hand. The referee in this game had his arm raised at a 45 degree angle pointed in the direction of Philadelphia's goal, therefore direct free kick Colorado. VAR intervened to tell the referee that they believe the foul occurred on the line of the Penalty Area meaning the infraction would be a penalty. They told the referee to check the monitor to see for himself, and the referee called a penalty.
And also you can see the Assistant Referee moving towards the middle of the field. If that would have been a PK, he would have moved toward the corner flag.
Remember they also have microphones.
On a real note all of you guys should become certified referees because we have a huge shortage and it’s super fun and it help keeps you in shape!
And is a much better job as a teenager than flipping burgers!

@@baxtronx5972 That's not a thing until you start refereeing older kids at more competitive levels. By then, it's just another thing you see out there and have to deal with.

came here thinking of the same scenario. They even called that one WWE takedown as well yet the outcome was different -_-
On the Hector Herrera second yellow, you are taking all of the context out of the game. The first yellow he gets in the refs face agitated clearly. Easy yellow by the foul and pushing a second for his response to the ref. Throughout the rest of the game he is reckless and agitated. This was a yellow for persistent infringement along with the tactical foul. Soft sure, but you can't go grabbing and swiping from behind on a player. Ref set the precedent early with Jackson Ragen receiving a yellow for a very similar play.
No mention of how Barios only got a yellow for shoving Blake into the boards? He also swung fists at other Union players. Also, Moreno on the Rapids slaps Buenos face twice. But that wasn’t a red either?
The slam probably would have been a game misconduct for boarding in the NHL. And if Rivas had pulled out the red rather than the yellow it's possible the Union would have let up on protecting Blake and the rest of the confrontation would have been avoided.
With so many red cards and other issues to discuss I understand why, but I wish you'd reviewed the foul called on Vallecilla in the Crew vs Orland match. It looked very soft to me live and led to Orlando's second goal to tie the match.

Wow nothing from the Toronto Montreal game!, second yellow for preventing a through in and the player ejected game back on the field at the end of the game for a mass confrontation!
I'm not going to comment beyond BRING BACK CHRISTINA. She made me realize how much I dislike the "hot takes" type of Instant Replay.
New England goal should've counted. Terrible excuse by the ref and VAR. This is disgrace.
Where's the reviews of the other bad calls during the Revs game? Pekmic tried to screw them over last year against Toronto and did so successfully against Miami this year.

It's being trialed in a couple of countries/leagues, but IFAB protocol doesn't currently allow it. I'd give it a year or two before the relatively conservative board allows it.

Leading with the elbow IS using it as a weapon. The force is the momentum behind it which most people are aware of what they are doing.
How on earth do you look at that Colorado scrum and think that was handled correctly? Barrios punches/swings at at least 3 Union players, Elliot gets tackled literally at the same time and in the same shot as Glesnes, neither of which gets mentioned? If the Bueno contact is the standard that you are going to issue reds for violent conduct, then Colorado easily should have 3+ players sent off. Instead, Philly ends up with more cards (1R, 3Y) out of it. Insane
Considering it was the end of the game I don’t think the number of red cards matter too much. The bigger thing is what DisCo has to say about suspensions

Shame this was a year ago, no one will read my commentary.
But I learned a little something on offside with the player off the pitch still deemed to be in play. Maybe it is a recent rule change because in the past I have watched players carry the ball into an offside position and run off the pitch to avoid offside after cutting it back.
My criticism of the ref at that point is, if the player is still considered to be a part of play and remains down, there is a duty of care to the players health by the Ref to stop the game for the injury. Because by your interpretation the medics can not address the player's injury without permission to attend from the Ref. So the play should have been stopped before the goal was scored.
The one with the elbow, it was used as a weapon. The player jumped earlier, lead with the elbow/forearm and targeted the opposition. Straight red.

It isn't the fact that the shooting lane is clear that matters. It's that vision of the shooter is obscured by the player deemed offside. Pause it at 7:30.
Except the behind the net angle shows he's not actually obstructing anything. Look closely at the screenshot in the video, it's far more angled than it appears
During the freeze frame, if you draw a straight line from the keeper to the attacker... the offside player in pretty much in that line, too. The touch doesn't have to be completely obscured.
What about the player who was sent off in Canadian derby that came back on the pitch at the end to fight with everyone

This channel should get a red card for not giving their pundit a DECENT MICROPHONE.
Your explanation on the offside/no-offside in the Galaxy match is a bit lacking. The whole sentence in lawn 11 is “A defending player who leaves the field of play without the referee’s permission shall be considered to be on the goal line or touchline for the purposes of offside until the next stoppage in play or until the defending team has played the ball towards the halfway line and it is outside its penalty area.”
So the offside doesn’t just reset when there is a stoppage, but also when the defense has played the ball out of the penalty area toward the halfway line (which they did). So where do we consider the player who is off the field when the ball is played back in? Going back to the text above, it says “leaves” not “has left.” But maybe that is the same thing.
my guess is its open to interpretation by the referee. even though the defender headed the ball out, it landed squarely at the feet of an attacker just outside the penalty area (which means everyone kinda stayed in the same place, the attacking play didn't reset), which the referee could interpret as the defenders not "playing the ball out". If the defenders had maintained control of the ball (successful pass to another galaxy player) that would theoretically reset the offsides, perhaps? Sometimes even the laws can be vague.
It's one of the poorest written areas of the laws. Personally, I think in the spirit of the game/laws this was called as we'd want it. The player wasn't injured off the field. He was just slow to get back onto it. If we allowed him not to count as one of the last 2 defenders, then we're opening a loophole where defenders step over the endline purposely (or delay coming back on). And, yes, it would happen if that loophole were there.
I think referring to an attacking phase would be better so that there isn't such a defined set of rules which clearly aren't going to work in every situation.

WWE body slams don’t qualify for red cards. Just ask Christian Roldan. MLS even retweeted The Rocks tweet because they thought it was funny. Maybe MLS is just okay with it happening to the Sounders.

I can see 4 *easy* red cards against Colorado, and Bueno’s was nowhere else deserved. He’s defending a teammate from a violent attack.
Other refs would have given HH a warning instead of a 2nd yellow. HH forgot about his yellow, though... a no-no.
A yellow card is a yellow card. I'm sick of people saying "That shouldn't be a second yellow". There are no rules about different punishments depending on number of cards already given. Absolutely sick of it.
The New England Miami game, you really only reviewed ONE play? Not the fact that one of their players was shown THREE yellow cards (oh right, they gave one of them to another player who was about 20 yards away from the foul and never bothered to even review it, even though mistaken identity IS a reviewable offense). Or the handball in the box that was not reviewed? Hand was extended behind him and was being pushed out and away, making him bigger and most certainly not in a natural position. But no, no review. The officiating in that game was abysmal to say the least, but from the on field official and from the VAR official. You could easily have done an entire show just on this one game. And to be clear, no Latif Blessing was NOT obstructing his vision in any way. That Noel Buck goal should have stood as it was called on the pitch.
Wiebe doesn’t care unless it’s one of his top 3 teams that he roots for. All the other teams just get glanced over

Can someone please make a highlight of the inconsistency on this show. One week he is adamant it is a red card. The next week he watches the same the same thing and calls it yellow. Even in the same week he swings back and forth based on which teams he likes.
Oh, and he hates the sounders, clearly.
The yellow for the elbow in the Sounders match is completely wrong! Andrew, let’s recreate it and post it on your next episode. I will sprint to you and stick my elbow out before colliding with you. Then you can ask yourself if it was a weapon.
Do me a favor bud, watch any corner kick or cross in existence, and watch where the elbows are when they jump. Same position. It's how you get height and generate power for headers. Defenders eyes were also stuck on the ball meaning he wasn't aiming his elbow in for the headshot. Foul? Yes, red? NO. Can tell you've never played soccer ever 😂😂

@@lordfarquad7750 First, jumping straight up and having an elbow out is a far cry from sprinting 20 yards and having an elbow out. The first one may hurt, and maybe some bruising in the worst of scenarios. The second scenario is a great way to seriously injure a player with a broken bone in the eye/face area. If you can get a red for studs showing high boot because of the injury risk, then simple logic would say this type of situation should lead to the same outcome. Again, let’s test it out. You can high boot me and I can get a running start and elbow you in the eye/face. Let’s see if you change your mind. Second, a foul isn’t determined by where you are looking. Lastly, I played for many years. Assuming I didn’t play is a stupid excuse and not even a funny one.
@Zachary Winterfeld you're right in terms of the eyes don't determine if there's a foul or not. However, it CAN show intent. And intent is what can change a yellow to a red. As far as we can tell, the intent wasn't there

Rubio instigated the contact. The defender was going for the ball. Rubio did not make a play on the ball, but rather kicked backward into the defender's leg. Should have been a foul on Rubio.
8 red cars total this weekend. What about Bedoya slide tackle in the first half? He could have got 2 yellows as he later got a yellow later in the game believe was around 23 min. He also didn't exit the pitch after the sub was made he stepped back on the pitch a few times. Victor should be reviewed by Pro his calls for both teams were bad.

yeah, I always have an issue with the type of play. I do feel like how it is called is consistent though. Chicharito did this last season, even worse, and got a PK out of it. In theory, the attacker is playing the ball and attempting to shield it while doing so. I just don't like it.
I am starting to think this could be the best team in MLS history. They can prove it if they win everything this year. Supporters shield, MLS Cup, CCL.

So you can dangle a leg outside of your frame without possession and that’s a penalty on the guy you trip just cuz you go down and he doesn’t? A little consistency please. That’s never a foul and a terrible call.
I agree on the the first. On the Rubio play, he's trying to guard the ball and actually, IMO, Rubio committed the foul. In attempting to guard, he steps into the box, but actually INITIATES the contact and netmegs himself. I think it should be a foul on him. Rubio's foot is up, defender is down and just taking a step.
Horrible obstruction call. Keeper's own defender is as much in line. Offense isn't blocking and even trying to clear.
