After watching this and Leave me alone I realized you guys missed one major point. NF suffers from OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder. He can't control his thoughts because of this and it is a major burden for him. OCD can lead to depression, anxiety, and other things. It really does control his thoughts and he gets stuck in a kind of loop.

    • @mrcab9658

John Walton they both said something about mental health and the whole time they were talking about mental health and how to face those burdens. When they say take a rest they don’t mean just go to sleep they’re talking about focusing on yourself. They said it in a lighter way.

I dont know if yall recognized this before, but the thing about NF is that he is a believer. So I'm a pastor in training. Maybe yall have heard of us, maybe not but I go to Martin Luther College which is owned by Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). Now I'm telling yall this because NF in his music has all kinds of subtle references to scripture, and some of the things he talks about are the same homework I've had in my doctrine classes. NF says "see we've all got something that is trapped inside, you try to suffocate it and hope that it dies, you hold it underwater but it always survives, and it comes up out of nowhere like an evil suprise". We call this the doctrine of the Old Adam vs the New Man. The old adam or his sinful nature in other words, is what NF wants to drown, but being that we are sinful from birth it "always survives". Also, when he says "it (old adam) comes up out of nowhere like an evil suprise", I am very much reminded of Gods warning to Cain where the Lord says "sin is crouching at your door".
So I just thought that I would run this by yall because it's something that I found very interesting and maybe yall would too.

Not a lot of people notice the suicide reference. “ clean up my yard, get the noose out. Pull out my heart let it air out.”

      I only just did

    • @seank7227
      @seank7227 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

I have a different take on this. It is not actually about suicide. For NF. He has consistently kept his guard up. He refers to this much in the song Mansion. The shopping cart is his "mansion" he said "pack it up take a new route" For NF to be vulnerable and let his heart be opened or aired out for him it is like suicide. (The noose reference) Clean out my yard would more than likely be about him burying fear like he did in intro 3 and to finally let it go. Now, if he did let go of that fear he knows that he would be able to allow people into his heart again. That fact also scares him so the fear returns. It is a cycle that he has dealt with and he refers to in intro 3 when he says " time to go back in the house now you'll be out in a week"
What they are saying about the mind is correct but this can not be done on your own strength. Only when we put on the mind of Christ can we be set free. The word says "give ME your burdens and I will give you rest"
See, NF keeps them and say's im not perfect. Now he also say's "Christian is not the definition of a perfect me"
NF thinks very deeply he is incredibly analytical and meticulous. All of these references point to one central thing.
He knows he needs a stronger relationship with Christ. He has said in other songs. "Maybe ill talk to God more" "wish I would have prayed more"
The insane asylum is depicted as a circus I believe this is how he views his life or possibly the world. We see this in the continuation to this song "Leave me alone". The people in white. I believe these are spiritual references. Biblically white garments are pure. He is the outcast to this (the black) however NF is very afraid to let go of what got him to where he is. He refers to this in Outro. "Pain has always been the root of my music, If I cut it off how am I supposed to keep goin?" So, he feels insane, he feels like he is not himself and that he is at war with himself. Refers to this in "why" "Feels like im at war with myself and I forgot the shells". He needs Christ. Those are his shells. He knows it too but thats why he feels the way he does because he is afraid to change. Sorry for the long winded comment but I have thought a great deal about this.

That's my theory for the black balloons: They represent a burden, either a problem or a trauma. Everyone has at least one balloon because everyone has at least one burden on their shoulders. But the reason why NF's clothes are black is because they represent his depression. The image of him in black caring many more balloons than other people do is pretty descriptive. All these burdens, problems or traumas have taken over him, they have conquered him because of how plenty and heavy they are. The other people wear white clothes 'cause they are still sane.
The problem is that this opinion can't really explain why someone offered him some white clothes and why he is walking around in a shopping cart

The Word describes how one man plants the seed, another man waters the seed, another tends the plant, and yet another reaps the fruit.
I often wonder if NF even realizes his role. He is none of the above. He tried Christian Rap. The Lord had other work for him.
I am convinced, NF's job is to break through the hardened earth. So much soil cannot even receive the seed of faith. Their hearts are hardened. NF's work is breaking through the shell so the next person planting seeds can penetrate to where the seed can take root.

I'm no expert. But I feel like the shopping cart is his mind. A cage you can get out of. Or into. And balloons are the burdens. The people wearing white are people who have acknowledged their burdens and or issues. Some still carry them though. In Leave Me Alone, it seems like some of them that have the smile painted on are the ones still faking that they are ok. Some don't have it, and some that don't also do and don't have the balloons, like they have seen their issues and some still try to hide it while others wear their true selves on their sleeves. I could go so much deeper in how I see it but it's already a novel. Hope I see something differently than you guys have

Considering it’s a year old I doubt you’ll see this but the people in white are fighting the balloons in video, so maybe they’re fighting their problems, the things that get them down. Where NF is dressed differently and shows that he drags the trolley around (with the balloons attached) because he isn’t ready to let go of the things that made him who he is (the trolley/ shopping cart) but he wants to hold onto the past (balloons) and what makes him who he is. The white clothing at the end was a sign, his choice to accept (the clothing) what’s happened to him and battle few “demons” and struggle or accept it all and drag it around like luggage

He releases himself thru his music but only for a moment. Trying to truly let go of things that make him sad so he can truly be happy, but also respecting his own personal experiences because of how they shaped him. He is a beautiful person because of it. That sounds kinda twisted but we all have different walks of life that mold us to what's next in life.

I love these two! I've been missing out since 2019! Outrageous, this has got my algorithm written all over it. Hint hint TH-cam. Put this kind of stuff in my queue.... just for the "cinematology" alone I'd say it's worth the watch. Had you told me also about the beautiful "cinnamontograpy" at the end...these two genuinely radiate kind energy. Son is so eager to share, so excited for his response on ALL of it. Pastor Dad has some wise perception and compassion. Love the way they communicate. ...Just wait til the 3rd pass when he can finally see and hear all the elements as one. Would be interested with any new takes from the Pastor after 2nd, 3rd watching.

You should react to TobyMac "Till The Day I Die". Preferably the live version but both the studio version and the live version would be great too! TobyMac is my favorite artist with NF being my second favorite and "Till The Day I Die" is my all time favorite song! NF is featured in that song as well. TobyMac's song "21 Years" is also a very heavy, deep, and great song. But then again all of TobyMac's songs are great! "21 Years" is about the recent passing of Toby's oldest son.

The shopping cart is representing his mind. The black balloons are his burdens and how they are attached to his mind. In the middle of the video, the woman on the bench is his mother, and Nate places his balloons onto the bench. This is showing that his burdens are attached to his mothers death. The white represents purity and how even though people may seem perfect, they still hold their own burdens. The person at the end of the video was giving nate the option of turning pure but Nate wants to find his peace on his own.

Your dad is right. A feeling is a reaction to a thought. Our brains process much slower than our body reacts, but that doesn’t mean the feeling comes before the thought.

The people in white represent some of NF's memories carrying some baggage, of which he has taken care of/gotten over or dealt with. This would explain why he (supposedly) gives two balloons to another person in white at the end of “Leave Me Alone.”

I haven't done much research, but I'll go with Mr. Pastor. We usually think before we feel. It has to be in our thoughts first. Also I think that the mental and spiritual are deeply connected.

I have a theory about the white robes. It may represent a way to try to cover up the burdens or flaws that we all have, or an attempt to forget our burdens. But NF sees his burdens and flaws and isn't trying to hide them or cover them up. Hiding under a white cloak won't get rid of the problems or stress. It will keep them inside of us, and if we try to force them down and hide them, the more the pressure will build, the harder it will be to keep them there.
Just a theory, but it did sound better in my head. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Learned the lesson of detaching 4 years ago when I took over the engineering department of a large company... constant emails, calls, texts about nothing important through all hours of the day ( 24/7 facility). After 8 my work phone is off. I'm only availed to a select few who call if there is a serious issue. made life a lot better and more peaceful plus my health improved drastically. I miss the days pre-cellphone and social media. People have forgotten how to interact person to person on a human level and a lot of people forgot about boundaries. Immediate responses are expected today.

In the primary case, in the standard situation, feelings come first. Thoughts are ways of dealing with feelings - ways of, as it were, thinking our way out of feelings - ways of finding solutions that meets the needs that lie behind the feelings. The feelings come first in both a hierarchical and a chronological sense

Well now the white clothes give me this impression: he has healed and can now heal others. Someone who is a healer gave him the clothes (maybe the therapist because a looot of what he said was very much up a therapist's alley). His position at the end gives me a cocoon impression, like he'll come out on the other side.

my girlfriend broke up with me two days ago, so i think everyone know how one feel when that happens. but since this is not the first time, i learned alot, read alot and kinda got better in controlliung my thoughts there are still moments when tears want to crawl out but.. its make this moment so much different even there´s pain, i feel up not down mostly and go on with a okay/good feeling. thats all about thoughts, feelings come second thats just fact. just think with believe something like i feel great i will do great..and then try to feel it. you will see an instant change in mood. but strange is that i dont feel alone when i watch reaction videos where people i dont know talk and watch over things, interesting thing i just found out for me. helps alot when you have nobody to talk, but is has to be positiv... have a great time

Emotions precede thoughts. Sensory input first goes through the emotion centres of the brain before hitting the frontal cortex. IE emotions before thoughts. Our brains are wired like this for our fight or flight mechanism.

The section "See, we've all got somethin' that we trapped inside
That we try to suffocate, you know, hopin' it dies
Try to hold it underwater but it always survives
Then it comes up out of nowhere like an evil surprise
Then it hovers over you to tell you millions of lies" reminds me of the challenge of a Christian to bury the old man through baptism (Romans 6:4-6), but he continues to want to come back out, and we need to keep him buried, but we sin, which is the old man surfacing (Rom 7:19). Great video

I'd say the balloons are trauma. But they are balloons because they are light and you can carry a bunch of them, and they haunt you but its because we hold onto them. They leave as easy as cutting the string or letting go of them.

I think you guys are spot on with everything. The white suit I believe is telling him to come to be like the others. Which means yeah we all have burdens, and use them as lessons but not to let the tarnish who we are as people. The part that hits me the hardest is when we talks about murdering our own faith. I have struggled with not letting myself get a spiritual breath. And yes I have made mistakes and I have burdens but I will not let evil stop me from being a good man. Look up the spirit of python... it’s pretty powerful when you can call your own demon by name... good review guys.

I'm sure you guys know this, but Jung discusses different personality archetypes, with one portion of each archetype being either thinking or feeling. According to Jung, some people operate based primarily on thoughts, others on feelings. As an INFJ, I find that my emotions are stirred by scenes in movies/shows or lyrics before I've even had an opportunity to process them, based solely on the feelings they evoke within me. I would say that, yes, while some people think before they feel, others feel before they think.

Enjoyed the talk today on this video. In response to being able to change a thought. Yes, your thoughts can be reframed by you! How we look at things can get distorted, so a good focus in on some irrational aspects of our thoughts can lead to a more balance view of what is really going on with ourselves ;)

The people in the background are wearing medical scrubs or garments that patients are made to wear when they are institutionalized. NF is talking about his burdens and around him are also people who are going through the same thing ( as they are all holding the black balloons as well) but they seem isolated from each other even though they are dressed the same way in that sort of patient uniform. It’s is an interesting take on how mental health patients are treated and how they can feel once are taken in to undergo some form of treatment inside a “mental health facility” . At the end Nate is also given one of these uniforms indicating that he may have been institutionalized , the video leave me alone continues the story where the patients all seem like zombies and are hyper medicated which does happen in mental institutions .
