- An entry that is a lot more important to the series than people realise.
Impressions from the point of view of someone who finished Final Fantasy IV for the first time, through the Nintendo Switch version of the Pixel Remaster.

I played this many times on the SNES (known as Final Fantasy 2 in the US). It was one of my favorite games of the time. A lot of the tropes may be cliche by today's standards, but this game was quite revolutionary for the time.
It was a bit shocking seeing how curt the dialogue is by today's standards but it helped a lot jumping from III to IV to see how much the narrative style evolved a lot.
@@gameoverhell6952 Well you have to remember that the NES and SNES eras had atrocious translations as shown by the "all your base are belong to us" meme. The version you played, I'm sure, had updated and improved dialogue compared to the original game as well.
I mean playing it back then the dialogue was awesome. It's not like Link to the Past or Super Mario World had better dialogue.
@@rathelmmc3194 squaresoft had an infamously bad english localization for some time around the 90s.
Imo the way to play these is on the switch portable. You have to remember, pixel games back in the day...back when I was a kid... were not played on big 55"-75" TVs that everyone has today. A huge CRT was 32" and most people had 24-27" TVs back then. Mine was 27" and it was on the bigger side.
Stretched pixels just dont look very good. These remasters make them playable on big screens but its still a pixel game. A handheld condenses the size down to something that looks much closer to OG playability.
I bought the physical for Switch and its awesome. Also, I can hook my switch up to my 27" monitor instead of my 65" living room TV and it looks much better there also
They do feel perfect for the Switch.
Nice intro. Really is noticeable the difference between the first 3 entries to everything else
Got this on my feed. Hopefully this blows up for you.
Thanks!
great vid! I wanna try this remaster, one of my fav Final Fantasy games here
I don't know how it compares against the PSP version that gets lauded often but I think they did a good job with the pixel remasters!
Nice review! Make me want to stream this myself sometime.
wow, this was one of your best reviews so far. the pacing, the clear voice-over and the script, didn't feel like more than 20 minutes at all.
i've been a final fantasy player since my childhood, but never really gave a serious thought about the atb system, now i might finally try it how it was supposed to be.
also never thought much about it, but final fantasy iv is probably the hardest of the series (even if the series is not really difficult overall).
last time i tried replaying this title was through the nds remake, but i couldn't stand the UGLY models and graphics and that cringeworthy voice acting, just dropped it.
this one's gotta be played the classic way.
Kain Cane not Chyn it's a play on the biblical story of Kain who slew his brother Able out of envy
"Khyn" is how we say the biblical name where I live.
@@gameoverhell6952 so it's like a Tobias Toviyah thing?
@@brobasticbroham446 We definitely would say "Toe-bee-as" here so probably
@@gameoverhell6952 Spanish or Portuguese then yes?

FF 10, is the incredibly tedious phase.
Finally Fantasy peaked at FF6. FF7 just looks so goofy with its art and animation. The FF games died after that.
Hardly.
