I agree. Because I do also agree the grey inventory is kinda boring and uninspired. Dated.
I don't think rounding it out would make a big difference, since it's still pixelated. If it was like a vector type thing then that wouldn't fit into the game, but right now it looks good in my opinion.

So here's a question for the next Q&A session: I liked your trapdoor answer on which block would you make cheaper. But I wanna flip that question on it's head, which recipe (if any) would you make even "slightly" more expensive, be it for balancing reasons or parity reasons? My answer would be the bundle. It's just too cheap for how huge of a progression step it is. I liked the old recipe as the shape actually "looked" like a bundle. When the shape of the recipe LOOKS like the item you are trying to craft, as long as the cost is reasonable, to me, that's a good recipe. The only problem with it prior is that A.) it required killing a passive mob and B.) rabbits just DO NOT spawn in enough biomes/frequently enough/are not easy to farm nor breed. If they just changed the old recipe from rabbit hide to leather, it woulda been fine. So I'd change it from 1 string and 1 leather to 2 string and 6 leather. I'd also make it so you could buy them from leather worker villagers as a trade-off for the increased recipe price as an alternative/secondary means of acquiring it.
Mojang should really create free add-ons as updates. Consider to stop updating your version. On PC people can pick to play whatever older version of Minecraft. The PS3 version is a older PS4 version that some PS4 Minecraft discs can switch to. The PS3 version has fish mobs and no Caves and Cliffs update when updated and you can still play with others, but they don't make getting mods for it much of a option.
I understand the feelings on your Notch video, but he’s a nuanced figure and so needed nuanced representation. While I may think that he has utterly terrible political/human rights opinions, I respect trying to understand that other side and analyze things in a respectful manner. It’s definitely better than just shutting out arguments just because you disagree with them and retreating to an echo chamber. Seek to understand, not to accept. Edit: I mean in terms of arguments, please accept people for who they are if they’re not hurting anyone.
Everyone hurts others in some way if they want to or not. If people try to help enough then they could be more helpful then harmful to some. Just saying.
Now that toycat mentioned r/youtubedrama , there will undoubtedly be several posts complaining about how he “put them on blast”. Those people hate when it comes back around to them. I’ve seen it.
The question at 3:23 reminds me of the Ship of Theseus. If you replace the parts of a ship piece by piece with new parts but keeping the name of the ship, and rebuild the same ship using all the old parts, which is the original if either? If you update and change every part of the game, is it still the same game? Whatever your answer to the question, the ship and game are factually different now, but different isn't inherently bad. I feel like updating the old and core features is actually a good thing, because it keeps things fresh while still allowing people to go back and play the old versions.
I was thinking it would be cool to put a little more effort into getting the muddy pig: While it's raining, have a pig standing on mud blocks and right-click it with a mud block to get a muddy pig Sort of like getting the brown mooshroom or the snowgolem without the pumpkin takes a little more work, but are still mobs in the game!
Minecraft is a game with a broad audience, mojang would spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to appeal to everyone. What we hear would only be a tiny part of the game. Additionally, it needs to support lots of languages, devices and even codebases, all adding up to things requiring lots of resources for seemingly small changes.
It looks like change for change sake -- doing something pointless so they can say they updated something, even if by doing so makes things worse. Strange the way some people get excited by the idea of "its an update dude" even if its at best pointless (and really looks like making a good system worse). I have nothing against change if its for the better, but change for change sake its really a good thing.
I think the logic is like this: You complete the portal Enter the nether Put down a lodestone Click your compass on it Explore the nether while knowing you won't lose the portal location
The old crafting recipie implies that it has/had something to do with the Nether. In Lore, it probably was to help people find their way back home/back to the portal.
I don't know if this follows the thread of this video, but I'm not a fan of how they are implementing the parity between the two versions. They just keep taking away from Bedrock and not Java.
I also did add a bit of isolation in the edit because there was a lot of echoing where he was recording. It sounds a bit different but hopefully not too bad :))
I'm fine with container inventories being colored, it can be helpful to quickly tell if an item is in your inventory or you accidentally left it in a chest, but the rest of the ui changes are questionable. Side by side is just weird, and the numbers are a bit harder to read.
On one hand I do feel the side-by-side design makes more sense (for example, the recipe book UI), but we have to take into account the over a decade of muscle memory and design with the current style UI. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to change when there wasn't necessarily anything wrong with the vertical stacking either. Everyone is very much used to it. Not too big on the flattened UI skin either. Up until now all the UI (including the Bedrock main menu overhaul) leans into the effect of having the UI slightly pop to give the illusion of depth. It's kind of a part of the game's identity and design, but this does away with it completely Colored containers are pretty neat though, I do agree, same for the numbers being a bit harder to read
@@Dinostraw I actually really like the top bottom UI because it feels like you pulled your bag off your shoulder, opened it in front of you, and you're opening the box/chest/barrel. You know, because you're looking ahead at the container. Having it to the side makes my brain think I have to be next to the container instead of in front of it.
I think (regarding the new snapshot) they should’ve made leaf litter differently (and a couple of other things) it’s great (it’s not) but they could’ve changed a couple of things for instance the name they should’ve not called it “leaf litter” instead like “a pile of leaves” or “dried leaves” also they should’ve not made the leaf litter be placed like pink petals cause in your inventory they look like them fully placed on the ground instead just be able to place them on the ground like carpets and I don’t like the fact you can smelt to get the leaf litter (even though leaf litter is dried leaves) but one more criticism about the snapshot the fact that the new falling leaf particles in all biomes??!! It made the pale garden and cherry blossom biome feel special!! Now all biomes have it!!? And also they added new pigs?!?! Add new cows or chickens I don’t want new pigs!! Literally the best part was the new lodestone crafting recipe!! Tell me what you think
I agree with you. I don't want updated pigs but personally I don't want different variants of sheep and cow more. Mojang should just make a section in the homescreen called update add-ons. That way I can do stuff like disable bigger caves and newer Nether dimension while enabling mangrove swamps and bees.
I don't like their new cherry biomes or pale gardens but I need to update my version on console to access multiplayer, for example PS4. I guess I would stop playing multiplayer on console. Pocket edition does not need to be updated to use online features. With the Java edition (for PC) players can control what version that they use and they can connect controllers with a USB cord.
I find the pale garden fine cause it adds something new and creative we are looking for new content in new updates but I did think that it was stupid and instead update not the overworld and instead something like the nether (not update like add structures) so that’s why I thought a end update would be perfect but playing on older versions and updating easier is gonna be tough for mojang because of some bedrock issue (cause I feel like this would be in bedrock)
Also regarding the “update addons” I feel like it would be weird like imagine they add a new structure and then a new biome then a new mob and in that world you’re only gonna have one feature it’s gonna look strange and I don’t think mojang will add that the idea is ok though
It's not a replacement and sequels aren't just released when a game is dead. Notch is probably looking to make a game with a similar vibe as OG minecraft without copying the blueprint
They are working on terraria 2 (for when they drop the final final actually final update) and that’s not dead. Same goes with space engineers 2. I could see them making massive game engine changes and turning that into Minecraft 2.
All I want for the new UI to have is an option to stack the inv vertically and to make the hot bar border a bit thinner, it’s very chunky in the prototype.
I do hope it’s an option/Toggle cause I would love to play with it like it’s planned but also I get some people do not like that, I shift click to move objects around so it being horizontal or vertical doesn’t matter
As someone who is enby I was kind of disappointed by Notch in that regard. I still respect his creative accomplishment and him as a creator but much less as a person now. Thats just my opinion tho, as the Cat said people are nuanced and beyond the binary. Then again I only learned of this whole drama through Toycats earlier video so it is safe to say that I almost didn't learn of it at all xD
@@emo_grinch_440 Yeah, it is sadly happening a lot more often if you are part of a controversial demography... makes it kind of hard to root for people you want to root for. I.e. Q for next week, how was the thought process behind the notch video, did you expect it to land so poorly? Making you delete it? Also how is the thought process about not taking political stances? Is it a money question or a i don't have the energy to handle the backlash from any political side?
Did it land poorly? Because I was having some constructive conversations in the comments of that video. If I had to guess, Toycat probably got some threats and other nastiness and hatred from those that won’t accept any discussion of Notch that isn’t 100% demonizing him.
I mean, he is a minecraft channel first. Going into political topics even when pertaining to the game is opening up a big can of worms as you could probably see if you read the comments under the video, civil nuanced political discussion is very hard to have especially when that isn't what your channel is centered around. Arguments online pretty much boil down to I'm right you're wrong and if you aren't with us you're against us, left and right leaning media outlets take advantage of this way of thinking to great effect and generate a shitload of money through it all the while dividing people further and further. Taking a neutral stance on a subject is seen as either fence riding or sympathizing with the "wrong" side of the issue and being too coward to admit it, he brought up a lot of good talking points in the video but too many people thought what he was saying wasn't pushing their preferred rhetoric hard enough and if he wanted the algorithm to keep picking up his videos he had to take the notch one down.

Andrew, remember that drama is always going to be drama. I remember when Reddit got in much more fuss about you putting something in a thumbnail that was (gasp!) related to the contents of your video! The internet has its bad days (most days) and there are some subjects that you just can't touch without backlash. Explaining both sides makes you look like a monster because attempting to understand ideas whilst disagreeing with them is wildly unpopular these days. This is especially true here as most of your audience has grown up with enough internet access to choke a camel (not excluding myself). Hopefully, as you reflect on your video, you consider how you can format difficult and personal subjects more sensitively in the future. Remember, not everyone thinks like you, so not everyone is willing to follow your train of thought. More than just being unbiased, your videos have to be accessible to people who think differently. I hope the remainder of your trip goes well and that you're in a comfortable recording studio by the next snapshot release!
Queue up Khajit soundfile "ibxtoycat did nothing wrong. ibxtoycat is innocent of this crime" In all seriousness though, any attempt to appease the types who feel 'aggrieved' by the video content will view it as blood in the water and double down on any drama they plan to squeeze from this, and even attempting to engage in legitimate dialogue is usually just walking into a trap. Wish you well toycat, and keep up the good work
Ibx knows all this, he’s been on TH-cam for years, so idk why he’s getting riled up in Reddit comment sections and trying to cover himself up, he knew the risks of posting that video that’s why he was excruciatingly annoyingly neutral on the subjects in it, which didn’t go well with majority obviously. There was no train of thought it was just him dancing around controversial subjects and saying anything he can to be as neutral as possible to not offend his right wing or left wing audience, the entire video was just a pathetic and cringey display from him and the people defending him are just as pathetic 😗
Reddit's not a majority, and is highly divorced from reality the majority of the time. It's a highly censored platform that will delete comments for going against the approved beliefs of the mods. Like with most internet drama it's an overly vocal minority that dogpiles in a way to overrepresent an opinion to shut down dissent, even if it was a legitimate conversation.
@@zhornlegacy7936 yk it’s not just ppl on Reddit, actual fans of his content from here on TH-cam are annoyed with the video, that’s why it ended up on Reddit to begin with. The only people who were actually dogpiling on the video itself were the right wings defending it against people who were rightfully annoyed by it by telling them to unalive and that they don’t deserve rights 🤨 these r the type of people a video like that makes feel welcome in toycats “I want people to feel welcome and safe” community.
Gave the most neutral response to the criticism possible, not surprised. I don't even care if you agree with Notch or not, you're allowed to believe whatever you want to, but I very much dislike how neutral you're trying to appear on this. If you were against beliefs like the ones Notch was sharing, you wouldn't have spoken about them in the way that you did. That leads me to believe that you likely agree with at least some of what he was saying, but wish to appear neutral to try to avoid getting into controversy. It's spineless. I've been watching for a long long time, toycat, but something about this situation is not rubbing me the right way.
If you really didn't care you could've just moved on, and not called him spineless for having some opinion that you didn't agree with. Can he not have a conversation about it without being called a fence sitter and a coward? Personally I don't think he was being all that neutral on the issue anyway, as I recall he said that what notch had been posting was insensitive and inciting fear and distrust of media through shaky sources. Thought it was an interesting talking point to bring up because I myself distrust "the media" for different reasons, and think that there should be more discussion about it because when we just take sides and bash others for not taking our preferred side, or not taking any side on a subject it only feeds into this culture war that seeks to divide people making them bitter or violent against anyone that disagrees with them and closing off any discussion or compromise that could have been had. All the while corporate entities and the people at their head that couldn't care less about what anyone thinks or wants or needs are endlessly capitalizing off the anger they sow and never see reprocussions for it. In the end we all get so mad that we don't need any unseen outside forces to silence our thoughts like I assume notch believes, we do a good enough job of it ourselves. If you need an example, take toycats unlisted video for one.
Not everyone needs to have a strong opinion on something. Especially if it’s not something that they are apart of. There is nothing wrong with neutrality. Otherwise we get a lot of people who just believe what others say for the sake of having an opinion. Rather people be well informed than just blindly believe something.
There is already 2 options for the UI on Mobile, there's Classic, being the PC and Console version, and Pocket, the side by side version. Hopefully the new version will be customizable, and won't be the default in all platforms.
They really need to give us another row or two of slots. Yes, we have shulkerboxes and now bundles. But to get shulker boxes you have to go to the end and defeat the dragon. Bundles are annoying, but can be helpful. They have so many items now that you can't mine, go through the trial chambers, and do more without having to go back and clear your inventory. I have to make chests while I'm in the mines and figure out what to leave behind to get later. Keeping the inventory the same size makes as little sense as wages not increasing with inflation 😅
It makes no sense to change what's already working fine. It doesn't need to change. Maybe add color customization, but there's no reason to change it unless the original can stay and the new one is optional.
I understand and respect ypur decision to remove the Notch video from the main public. Do I think that there are things you could have done better? Yes, but at the same time you dont deserve to receive hate/threats. It felt really nice in this video to hear that this community is supposed to be filled with kindness and thoughtfulness. If you had said that unkindess and unthoughtfulness was not welcome in your community on the Notch video, I think that would have made people feel better (or at least me, since I cant speak for everyone). While I think this is a good learning experience, and it's ok to feel regret, dont beat yourself up over these mistakes, especially since I know you did not mean to hurt people. Oh, sure, if you add features without checking to make sure it works on every platform, then of course it can be made in an afternoon. The fact Mojang does though between every version currently out right now is why each snapshot and drop takes awhile. Not to mention adding a new feature could also accidentally add a new bug which needs to be reported on right away.
"Revisiting old content and bringing it up to date/polishing it" I'm just wondering what they're referring to as being brought up to date? It's not the UI leak, is it? Do people seriously see those leaks and get excited? Do they see a recoloured window and think "yes that counts as bringing the UI up to date"? No wonder devs sell us nothing but half finished slop any more, if the standard people are using for whether or not something is "up to date" is simply that it has been modified in any way whatsoever (particularly aesthetically) at least one time. Forget about things like adding functionality or streamlining ease of use, lol. We don't need none of that rubbish, we just want green borders somewhere and thatll do.. 😅
They should just add a homescreen with for free stuff made from Mojang. That way players can choose to get updated texture packs or add-ons instead of these updates. Maybe Mojang would one day consider adding a dimension that contains only older biomes and cave systems.
Okay I feel like if Minecraft wants to you like big decisions like this like changing the UI or they have features that they really don't know they should implement or add like regular games before they actually full you release or have a simple demo they should have beta testers that are from the community that have been with Minecraft release 7 or almost 10 years to get their feedback on these features to see if they like them in like have 10 or 20 people beta testing I was just like a handful of people you actually like it physical community feedback and not just feedback from the feedback site on Minecraft with other people's typing

Guys if we all don’t migrate our bug tracker accounts that will remove every bug in the game
Is a bugtracker account the same as a Minecraft/Microsoft account or is it a different thing?

Ah drama communities.
A perpetual toxicity machine filled with people actively looking for something to be mad about for Karma & clout.
Is that what got his notch video bombarded? Makes sense.
Meanwhile people modding Skyrim until not a single trace of the original game is present and it's basically a rip off of The Witcher or Dark Souls:
I hope they would add a muddy and spotted pig version for every 3 pig variants
I was thinking it would be cool to put a little more effort into getting the muddy pig:
While it's raining, have a pig standing on mud blocks and right-click it with a mud block to get a muddy pig
Sort of like getting the brown mooshroom or the snowgolem without the pumpkin takes a little more work, but are still mobs in the game!
honestly they should add all the earth mobs
The only problem I have with the lodestone change is that it’s now found in ruined portals when now it has nothing to do with the nether
I think the logic is like this:
You complete the portal
Enter the nether
Put down a lodestone
Click your compass on it
Explore the nether while knowing you won't lose the portal location
@@leochangesnames that's actually super smart what the- I didn't thought of that :0
The old crafting recipie implies that it has/had something to do with the Nether. In Lore, it probably was to help people find their way back home/back to the portal.
I've used it more in the overworld than in the nether in my survival world, though; so I think this is a great change!
9:30 if you’re uncomfortable because of a video on the internet, you shouldn’t be on the internet.
I don't know if this follows the thread of this video, but I'm not a fan of how they are implementing the parity between the two versions. They just keep taking away from Bedrock and not Java.

Toycat sounds different, like there's more compression on the mic or something.
Different mic because I'm travelling!
I also did add a bit of isolation in the edit because there was a lot of echoing where he was recording. It sounds a bit different but hopefully not too bad :))
@@Asht57 Nope! You did a good job. Most people probably won't even notice!
The new inventory UIs look better, but they're just so much more inconvenient to use
imo the worst crafting change in recent history was locking netherrite tools behind a smithing template as if it wasn't hard enough to craft already
It's kind of a part of the game's identity and design, but this does away with it completely
Colored containers are pretty neat though, I do agree, same for the numbers being a bit harder to read
@@Dinostraw I actually really like the top bottom UI because it feels like you pulled your bag off your shoulder, opened it in front of you, and you're opening the box/chest/barrel. You know, because you're looking ahead at the container. Having it to the side makes my brain think I have to be next to the container instead of in front of it.
minecraft after destroying muscle memory:
(I also like the wildflowers)
The art is fine, having the two menus side by side has to be a crime
I don't like the idea of Minecraft 2. Saying it's a spiritual sucessor it's like saying the game is dead while we have a giant modding community.

@@emo_grinch_440 Yeah, it is sadly happening a lot more often if you are part of a controversial demography... makes it kind of hard to root for people you want to root for. I.e. Did it land poorly? Because I was having some constructive conversations in the comments of that video.
If I had to guess, Toycat probably got some threats and other nastiness and hatred from those that won’t accept any discussion of Notch that isn’t 100% demonizing him.
@awkwardsilence4427 Dude I saw people referencing 42% as a way to hurt others. Don't know what you saw lol

Queue up Khajit soundfile "ibxtoycat did nothing wrong. ibxtoycat is innocent of this crime"
In all seriousness though, any attempt to appease the types who feel 'aggrieved' by the video content will view it as blood in the water and double down on any drama they plan to squeeze from this, and even attempting to engage in legitimate dialogue is usually just walking into a trap.

I agree, it was so cringey to see this performative neutralness when he actually has an opinion he’s ashamed to share.

It would be better if it could be arranged horizantally or vertically?
I understand and respect ypur decision to remove the Notch video from the main public. Do I think that there are things you could have done better? Yes, but at the same time you dont deserve to receive hate/threats. It felt really nice in this video to hear that this community is supposed to be filled with kindness and thoughtfulness. If you had said that unkindess and unthoughtfulness was not welcome in your community on the Notch video, I think that would have made people feel better (or at least me, since I cant speak for everyone). I'm just wondering what they're referring to as being brought up to date? It's not the UI leak, is it? Do people seriously see those leaks and get excited? Do they see a recoloured window and think "yes that counts as bringing the UI up to date"?
No wonder devs sell us nothing but half finished slop any more, if the standard people are using for whether or not something is "up to date" is simply that it has been modified in any way whatsoever (particularly aesthetically) at least one time. Forget about things like adding functionality or streamlining ease of use, lol. We don't need none of that rubbish, we just want green borders somewhere and thatll do.. 😅

How do you make pro-racism (the disagreeing side of anti-racism) not an evil thing?
@ I’m obviously not going to defend racism, but I think that people who are racist or say things with racist implications aren’t evil. They’re misled, and I feel like ostracizing them or calling them evil will just further their misplaced hatred. The best thing to do in my opinion is to attempt to see where they’re coming from so you can help them understand your perspective.
Not to mention the hateful comments that were put that he also has not condemned, or his careless mention of the trans suicide rate, which added nothing to his “point”
@@pandani199 How is saying “it’s okay to be white” (as Notch said) somehow _pro_ racism? It’s disagreeing with that statement that’s racist and evil, fyi.
@@pandani199 I agree; I cringed a bit when he brought up the suicide rate statistic. He was definitely not informed on what exactly the statistic implies, and I think he should’ve been more careful about using it.
I hate the falling leaves, I hope there is a toggle to remove them (or they don't add them at all)
They are already added.
