- Ok I love this truck, it's my favourite. It has so much going for it, and so much against it too. It is fragile if you do stupid stuff. I can help. Here's how in my video. If you wanna stop front right wheel lift, that's here too. So you can do pretty big jumps now if you make these mods. And if you want to drive 3s, and not keep flipping over, here's how. Top tip, wheelies make you slower, NOT faster - I know this from my motorcycle.
Yeat there are plenty of technically better trucks but this one gives more smiles per £$ than anything else, and it's cheap to repair, and with these mods, you reduce the chances of breaking stuff a lot 👍🍺🇬🇧.

Way back in the 80's, I modded my Kyosho Rocky with rear wheel steer effect. But it had independent suspension at the rear, unlike the Zorro. I added steering knuckles at the back and attached "track rods" to an ally plate I made up and fixed to the back of the chassis. I found that if you fixed the inner ends of the track rods above the knuckle arm, the "body roll" in turns would steer the outer back wheel to toe in, and if you fixed it below the knuckle arm, it would steer the outer wheel to toe out. With toe out the buggy was more tail happy, and toe in reduced rear slides. And you could control the amount just by moving the position . In either case the inner wheel in any turn was mostly scrubbing anyway due to the weight being transferred to the outside. Great fun!

hi, welcome onboard! be careful, the chassis prefers if you run the cage as well, or it stress fractures on the base plate! you really need to run the springs as soft as you can, some stuff works well but cracks the base! please be careful - The factory layout is very safe. However the crash back rear suspension is THE NUTS (da bomb to our US friends). This has saved major damage more times than I remember! I've done loads of mods to the Outlaw as it's such an interesting model. Take care.

I hope to pick up an Outlaw soon as I got a Tracer a few week's ago and I was delighted with the quality considering the very affordable price point.
hi! I remember those days well. With the outlaw, if you wish to jump it, make sure the chassis hits the ground before the suspension runs out of travel! 👍🍺🇬🇧
I'm looking forward to tinkering with the Suspension and wheel geometry just because you can...I don't think I will do any more than that if its as good as the Tracer was.
may I recommend the alloy upper ARB arms. They control the torque steer way better than the plastic ones. Well worth getting or you'll see it on 3 wheels a lot. Off road it's a great model, on road it'll fall over pretty easy. Have fun!!

Thanks for the tip...but I like the way My Tracer does a flip when you jump on the Brakes...makes me laugh 😃.
Oh and it makes Screeching sound too.
fair enough, but the outlaw does roll over easy on tarmac, which after the first 10 times gets a bit less fun. It's tough and can handle it, however your choice. Plenty of advice on how to tune them up!
Main thing is to enjoy it and not worry about other people too much 👍🍺🇬🇧

hey many thanks! 👍🍺. I've softened the suspension again on the back, and put the ARB back to factory setting, but kept the front and middle of the car as I had developed it. The nice thing is that it doesn't roll over much now - it spins out like a RWD car now I took the gyro off it. I may regret this but I wanted it to be harder to drive. Too many RC cars leave me feeling like it's easy to go fast. Speed should be something you work for!!

Hi I like what you did with the suspension .really cool I just taken the spider legs things off and moved the shocks over and its runs perfect . Dont get what they add them just for showing guess . I see you not changed the front bumper to the zorro one 1000 times better than this useless stump type . .and the steering iv upgread it to alloy again 100 times better than plastic I lowerd battery try an made it more steady so dont rollover all the time . Like the back custom well done m8
hey glad you like the truck, it's good fun for sure. I did discover that the shocks in this position are a lot harder over bumps, so it can be more bouncy. The spiders legs, yeah good name for them! they actually don't do much in plastic form, but if you get the metal ones, they suddenly work like they are supposed to. Eg really reduce body roll and I recommend them.
Tbh if you lower the battery, that's the best cheapest thing you can do.
Steering definitely agree, more alloy is good, my Bugsta/Carnage has more alloy, also looks good.

Hi i followed your mods for this truck i have the zorro ive not done the rear stear mod that you have done but the rest i have followed only thing i have change myslf is the wheels and tyres the wheels that come with the truck are not very good i have the ftx FTX Vantage wheels and it rips no more roll over every time you turn it around or corner.THX

funny enough I am back on the outlaw trail, I've found that I really like the crash back protection. I've repositioned the shocks so the ride is really soft, but have the anti roll bar to keep it from leaning too much. The front has Kanyon shocks and springs on. This raises the front and means it can hit bumps hard without scraping the chassis. Weirdly, the harder front springs are what stop the back rolling over so much.

some nice ideas there , do you know that you can run secondary shocks in behind the front ones as the front can be too supple . they provide a gap and holes already cut .
hi thanks for writing, it's a very interesting platform to build with. Yeah I did try twin shocks, a great look but I thought I only had one spare, so it was put on the left side to try and stop the torque twist. Biggest thing to improve the outlaw is a strong antiroll bar. Oh, and don't lock the rear differential like I did - it made it a lot harder to control! have a great day 👍🍺🇬🇧
@@carlbModels i hear what you saying about torque twist , am working on that too . will let you know how i get on , yup rear diff locking , i hear ya , i will keep it as is , but i will double the shocks all over just for sts and giggles . also thinking of changing rear geometary of rear antiroll bar just to see how it gets on , i did see a video of some guy that did it but he hasnt posted a video of the result , just taking his word that it works . cheers again .
oh another wee thing i did , if you have an old mauler sitting around , use the wheels from the mauler on the outlaw , they have a deep dish resess and look way cooler on the outlaw .

Or even the Kanyon, same tyres as the Outlaw but the wheel shared with the Mauler! FTX are pretty cool for such a low price 👍🍺🇬🇧
What wad it you actualy did to thr front suspension to schieve the new geometry
hi Paul, on the front I moved the upper (inner) pivot point to a lower hole in the shock tower. You need to lengthen the arm a bit as it actually moves forward. Hard to explain, but if you look at the shock tower from the front, you'll see a counter sunk screw. That's where you need to bolt to. Hope that makes sense?
also, antiwheelie is what happens from the back axle. Be careful though, it does reduce wheelies a LOT when you relocate the pivots.... but you get a ton more wheelspin. I prefer this to wheelies, but you may need a gyro to keep you moving forward to where you want to go. This RC truck looks like it's easy to control, but it's got hidden ability, and maybe more fun than it's Carnage brother.
Sometimes too easy to control becomes too boring. Check out some of my later videos on the Outlaw - I switch back to the rollcage and keep the crashback RWS setup, add a front roll bar, and centralise the battery! 👍🍺🇬🇧
