How does a 2017 BMW r1200rt stack up against a Honda St1300?

The bmw is much better at handling, but also doesn't have the amazing wind protection the Honda st1300 has. It has all the electronic gizmos that modern bikes have whichi make riding a breeze. But the Bmw r1200rt feels almost like a sportbike compared to the St1300.

I thought the BMW bikes were all hype and paid actors until I road one. Woah. I'm hooked on the GSA. I can't even imagine having to replace the bike someday. LOL, I never would have imagined riding 500 miles in a day until I bought a GSA. Now I ride 700+ and ready for more.

I have ridden the ST 1300 since 2003. I currently own a 2018 RT as well as a 2023 RT and GS. It’s not even close. The Honda is so far behind. For the money though, a viable option for the value minded.

When you say less wind protection than the ST1300 do you mean less wind noise around the helmet with the 1300? I heard the R1200RT had the least wind noise once the windscreen is raised.

The ST when you raise the windscreen almost all the way up just completely blocks all wind from hitting you. It's like witchcraft (@stock windscreen)

The st1300 plastic is so large and covers you so well that your legs and torso are fully protected. The rt seems like a sport bike in comparison. But the wind management in the rt is great. I didn’t notice any crazy buffeting

nothing like a ST1300 transmission......it is smooth as hell !

Had an ST13, very nice bike when it came out. The RT is orders of magnitude better than the ST.

the RT was nice, but still like that ST for touring. And the prices of the ST are so low it's hard to justify more.
