      I’m trying to self teach cause coaches are $$$. I don’t expect to be like insanely good being self taught but I still want to see how far I can get. Do you think that’s possible? Tips? 😭😭

    I am a simple skater. I see another adult beginner: I subscribe.

    It amazes me how similar our progress is. I also started right after Covid which for me was June of 2020 (coming up on two years 🤭). Me and my sister started together and fell in love with it together as well. We have always stayed the same level until recently, she decided to prioritize it less so it just happened. I just learned an Axel a few days ago, and even though it’s terrifying watching these videos just motivate me so much. Thank you for your wonderful video. ♥️♥️

    Started 5 months ago and I can relate to a lot of your experiences. It took me like 2 months to get a good waltz turn and even start with backwards crossovers and now I’m jumping solid salchows. Absolutely jealous of your spins I haven’t really figured them out yet.
    But in general what really helped me is an amazing adult figure skating community at my rink. To get
    advice from others but also be able to see others progress even with small things motivates me so much.

      omg thank you!! I totally agree that the community is such an awesome part of skating, and one that I wasn't really expecting going in. You see the same people all the time and it's so great to watch everyone grow + learn together!

    Hi Zoe. I loved this video, very well made!
    I’ve always loved ice skating, I remember watching winter games at home with my dad and dreaming to be one of those beautiful flying ballerinas.
    It is very interesting for me watching somebody from zero to what you did in just a year! It is amazing. Can’t wait to see more!
    Plus, your voice is stunning.
    Keep going Zoe!!!

    I love your videos and the progress you made is amazing. I get despondent by the videos that are like 'week one of skating' and the people are doing perfect backwards crossovers and waltz jumps lol. but your videos have really helped.

    I adore this video!! I am returning to the ice after a 17-year break and feel a little defeated about how hard stuff is now as an adult. You're so graceful and look like a natural on the ice, so it's nice to know that it's possible to attain that ease and beauty again! ETA: wait your fifteen omg!

    Really nice progress! Your backspins especially are really good for one year! Mine are nowhere near that :')

    Very impressive. Did you get a private coach or take group lessons?

    • @riverw4204
      @riverw4204  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A bit of both! Started in group lessons for the first few months and then moved to private. I'm currently doing private lessons only.

    Hello! Yesterday I tried ice skating for the first time. I've been interested in having classes since a few months now. Can you tell me how many classes you have by week? Thanks and congrats for your amazing improvement!

    Good job Zoe! Your progress is amazing! May I ask what kind of skates you’re currently skating with?

    • @riverw4204
      @riverw4204  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm currently in Jackson Artiste skates! They're black because the men's sizes fit my feet better. If you're looking to buy your first pair I highly recommend going to get professionally fitted, that's how I got mine.

    Two things. What skates are those? And I notice I always get sad and a bit discouraged when I see people doing a lot better than me in one year progress than where I'm at in a year (I hit a year on feburary 20th) buy then I remeber I literally only go once a week (sadly. I wish I could go like 4 times a week. I still improve fast even only 4 hours each time I go skating) and also the fact I had to relearn things after being sick for 2 weeks.

      Thanks! I skate between 6 to 8 hours per week, sometimes a little less or more depending on my schedule.
