  • We take a tour of my newly opened EV repair shop, which is a "franchise" QC Charge facility. Feel free to chime in if there is anything you'd like to see about the goings on here, and I'll see what I can do.
Of course, if you are in the PNW and have an EV that is in need of repairs, feel free to reach out (your car might even make it into a video!).
    As always, thanks for watching!

Definitely looking forward to your updates on the Ranger I'm looking to finish up my 280 Ah pack soon, so hopefully, I'll have it up and running before Summer.

Unfortunately I don't have the Rangers anymore... One ended up going to a guy in Kansas, and the other ended up going to Germany. Maybe one day I'll get another, though I would really like to convert a Nissan 720 one of these days (that was my first vehicle).

Congrats on the shop. Just watched some of your other videos and they are very well done. Have you ever worked on the MiniCooper SE? We’ve got a 2021 model and it’s a ton of fun but it’s been kind of a shock - no pun intended - how little my local Mini dealer knows about their own car. Took them months and multiple visits to diagnose a battery management fault. Kept blaming my house EVSE til I bought and installed a completely different brand and showed them the same fault. 🤦‍♂️
One suggestion for a video is show people how to check their vehicle battery State of Health. That’s something else Mini swears they can’t tell me although to investigate a battery warranty claim they’d have to do exactly that, no? I’d drive to your shop but I’m 4000km away in Toronto…😂

I haven't worked on a Mini SE (mostly because they are all still under warranty). I can tell you that it is basically all the same drivetrain parts as a BMW i3, probably with some slight modifications since the Mini is front wheel drive instead of rear wheel drive.
Not sure how specifically to check the SoH on the battery on one, but by using diagnostic software, it should be possible to pull the BMS's calculated capacity and compare that to the "New" usable capacity. Sometimes there are other "hacks" you can do on certain cars to get a pretty close approximation of SoC based on displayed values by fully charging and doing a "reset" to get it to display a "default" range calculation. However, I wouldn't know the correct values for an SE to test via that method... If you try searching some owners forums though, you might find some useful info. There might even be a diagnostic app you can use to connect to the car and get that info.

Nice shop man. 🎉. Watching from FL. Is there any plans for any type of DIY hybrid ideas?

I only do work on fully electric vehicles, no hybrids for me!
