Really fun to see an in depth review of these games, I never played them as a kid but they did always look interesting to m- DOLPHINS Such a shame the later games couldn't include 4 player co-op. Playing with friends seems like the best way to enjoy these games for sure. The 2nd's originality really surprised me, very fun. Who knows, maybe Purple Lamp can do a remake or a completely new one some day?
Congrats on getting this out last week. Quinton Reviews just uploaded a video about this game yesterday and I know for a fact you would have had people on here saying you "copied" him. Good synopsis critique of this childhood game.
I think I remember a time before that Jenny was supposed to be battle for Volcano Island via concept but got scrapped. But it was nice for her to get into Attack of the Toybots. But I kind of feel like out of the 2000's era. I feel like she'd fit in best with Spongebob, Jimmy, Timmy, and Danny. To fit the color scheme of main character lead in their own series, since Rocko, Arnold, and Jenny are the only ones I can think of with a blue color scheme
I agree. It's weird how, despite having a large fanbase, she was never included. Guess they wanted the Nicktoons to be boys-only thing (which is likely given Nickelodeon's track record).
Here is an idea I thought of for a rewrite of the first Nicktoons Unite: -The roster is the same (SpongeBob, Jimmy, Timmy, and Danny) with some new characters joining. These new characters include Leonardo (2012), Korra, Tommy Pickles (All Grown Up), Miko (Glitch Techs), Lincoln Loud, and Jenny Wakeman. I know what you're thinking, "But Lincoln and Tommy don't have any villains to speak!" Well, in the story, their worlds were already taken over by the syndicate who plan on converting their inhabitants into robotic slaves. -As for the music, it's obvious the music will be different. Instead of generic elevator music, the soundtrack will be reworked into epic scores that fit the specific world, even using the composers of the shows mentioned. -The syndicate is largely the same, but like the case with the heroes, there are some new additions. These new additions include Shredder, Kuvira, and Vexus. -The heroes move much faster than they did in the original version. The combat is smoothed out too with each character having a light attack, a heavy attack, grab, throw, a block, dodge, etc. -The worlds would be expanded upon heavily, incorporating locations and characters not featured in the original. -The cutscenes and interactions between characters would include actual voice acting. The main VAs of the characters would reprise their roles with a few exceptions (Nicolas Cantu would voice Otto, Jim Meskimen would voice Professor Calamitous instead of Tim Curry, Trevor Devall would voice Vlad, Corey Burton would voice Krackus, Kathleen Barr would voice Vexus)
Pretty much. If Nickelodeon had green lit her in the squad, she would've fit in. Kind of getting a sentai squad type of vibe, 4 males and 1 female. Sponge - Yellow, Tim - Pink, Jim - Red, Dan - Green, and the missing member of the 2000's squad if a female was required, Jen - Blue. Because of the other main female focuses would be any other color but blue
@@Mariocat99 Here would be the structure of my remake: -First, the Nicktoons travel to Royal Woods to stop the syndicate. There, they meet up with Clyde McBride and Luna who managed to escape capture. The two reveal that the syndicate managed to capture everyone in Royal Woods, including Lincoln's family. The areas of this level include Royal Woods Elementary, Great Lakes City Zoo, Fairway University, Dairyland, and the Cul De Sac. Enemies here are robots designed to look like typical nerds or jocks. After a while, the heroes see a giant robot dragon heading their way. This is the main boss known as the Drago Tron 9000. Its attacks include shooting fireballs and generating hurricanes with its wings. Its main weak spot is its belly. The Nickelodeon heroes defeat it and free everyone before heading to the next world. -The Nicktoons land in Eucaipah which is also deserted. They run into Chuckie and Susie who reveal that everyone in the place was kidnapped by the syndicate. Determined to stop the syndicate, our heroes head off to save Tommy's loved ones. The sections of this level include the Pickles's house, Neighborhood, Eucaipah streets, Jim Jr High School, and the mall. Our heroes then reach the Java Lava which has been converted into a syndicate base. Enemies here include robots that can squirt glops of fruit at the player. After making it through hoards of enemies, the players fight the Juice Man, a robot that can shoot torrents of fruit juice at the player. Luckily, the heroes manage to stop him and free everyone in Eucaipah... -Next up is Bailey which has been overrun with glitches terrorizing the citizens. Five reveals that the glitches have become more crazier than usual since the syndicate arrived. These glitches have managed to kidnap nearly everyone in Bailey, but Five escaped. So our heroes head to free everyone within Bailey, encountering glitches that resemble specific video game icons. After a while, the heroes fight off swarms of glitches and once a minute has passed, a cutscene will occur. The glitches will combine together to create a colossal virtual beast that towers over the Nicktoons (Think ROTF Devastator). This glitch monster can shoot out minions to aid it, release a powerful beam that can deal a ton of damage, and unleash a barrage of spikes at the player. The heroes beat it and rescue everyone in Bailey before heading off to fight the villains...
I’m kinda sad DVDs for shows are starting to stop being a thing. I like getting stuff physically because I feel like I actually own it because I do. Buying stuff digitally just isn’t the same especially since the company can just erase it from existence if they want to. Video games are also gonna run into this problem eventually. Eventually video games aren’t going to be physical anymore and they’re only going to be digital and then companies can erase them whenever they want to. DVDs make it so that companies can’t erase stuff like that. It’s not like they can come into our houses and burn the DVDs. There are companies that are drooling at the idea of us and not actually owning any of our games. Digital movies, shows, games etc are all way more convenient. Anybody would rather go on their iPad and watch a movie then put in a DVD. Nobody’s gonna argue that. The problem is that we don’t really own any of these digital things
I'll hazard a guess that the Globs of Doom forced character selection may be due to every duo having a unique screen clearing super move and the devs didn't have enough time to make one for every pair.
I think Unite stands a good chance of coming back currently, especially with how Kart Racers 3 and NASB2 turned out in terms of references. But rather than getting an HD version; unless they want to release the old titles as a bundle, or each title being remade individually, it's probably best if they took what work from all 4 and just make a new game that doubles as one big definite NU experience and *as a clean slate. (*Assuming they'd start from scratch for the new age.)
If I had to take a guess why globs has no Timmy, was that around the time when the future of FOP was uncertain? Like they show was thought to be over or cancelled or something along those lines?
But if their had to be a 5th member of the 2000's, that's a female. Which Nickelodeon despised of years ago. Then it'd go as Spongebob - Yellow, Timmy - Pink. Jimmy - Red, and Danny - Green, and forgotten member by Nickelodeon themselves, Jenny - Blue. Kind of like a Power Rangers color scheme
The thing about these licensed games is that companies didn’t most likely have a very big budget and they probably had a really short development cycle along with a strict release date. These games aren’t made under the best circumstances.
I remember LOVING these games as a kid (and mainly got them because SpongeBob was in it, it’s why I unfortunately got Party Blast.) I remember deciding that Toybots was my favorite, and I feel that is mainly because of the music and having Stimpy and especially Rocko playable, that game’s levels just go on and on and on and onnnnnn. Volcano Island is definitely the best of the group as it’s the actually decent one. And the idea of Squidward, of all people, being a prophesied hero is very funny to me. High quality video as always 👍 God Plankton is so ugly in Globs of Doom…
I think nicktoons unite game if they were to be remade I would do it a mix of kingdom hearts (with exploring new worlds and the protagonist is either a create character or original for this remake) and god of war (with the combat minus the gore of course). I do like the idea of a class system / role for the nicktoon hero’s.
@@HorridVO ahhh I was just curious if you found out that in Attack of the toybots there’s only 3 playable small levels for multiplayer and the rest is like not accessible.
Dude I watched this having liked the nickelodeon shows and video games separately, but never having played these.... Until I saw the cover of Attack of the Toybots and had fucking flashbacks, i looked up some gameplay and I had the DS one, I'm fucking losing it I had completely forgotten this, thankyou so much
Also I'm fucking SICK of remakes of good games, they were already good, these are exactly the kinds of games that need remakes, awesome premises with mediocre-bad execution
I'm not entirely against the idea! I didn't grow up with those versions though, so I wonder how my perspective may differ from other folks who did grow up with those versions?
Looking back on the series as a whole, I think Nicktoons Unite and Battle for Volcano Island are average at best. Nicktoons Attack of the Toybots and Globs of Doom are sort of just meh 🤷♂️. I hope THQ Nordic gives us a 5th game. I high-key don't really want a remake of Nicktoons Unite. I just want a new installment with more characters, better controls, a better camera, and more levels. I always wanted the Nicktoons Unite series to be similar to the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series, where the game is long and has a bunch of characters to choose from. I understand they couldn't pull that off back in the 2000s because they didn't really have time and the budget, but if this franchise ever comes back, they definitely need to go all in. I've been enjoying Nickelodeon Kart Racers and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. It's great that we're still getting brand new Nickelodeon games after 20 years lol. I also hope we can get a new party game and a tennis game.

Usually when anything is right it prospers for a while but eventually nobody realizes when something is timeless so it dies
It sucks that the DS versions of Globs and Toybots are so fucking G O O D. Even as an adult it’s fun and the mech boss music is GOATed
How funny that I just recorded the audio for an idea similar to this!
Great video!
Congrats on getting this out last week. Quinton Reviews just uploaded a video about this game yesterday and I know for a fact you would have had people on here saying you "copied" him. Good synopsis critique of this childhood game.
haha, thank you! the timing is crazy, and it's not even the first time something like this has happened to me!

Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots on PS2/Wii is one of the best Nickelodeon games that I have ever played.

I thought the Dolphins were a reference to the popular emulator Dolphin at first

God Plankton is so ugly in Globs of Doom…
What I mentioned below are aspects few people bring up or consider when criticizing these games.
you have a good taste in video game music
It does sort of make sense because fairly odd parents theme uses big band jazz. For everything else it’s a bit out of place.
It subject to removal, its also can be corrupted digital isn’t flawless digital media can still be glitchy. It’s not a miracle solution.

With Mickey Mouse and his friends among other characters
The music in Volcano Island is copyrighted stock music, most likely because the game was rushed
You never mentioned the multiplayer for globs of doom or attack of the toybots
I didn't mention them since I felt like they played essentially the same as volcano island with only few changes between entries.
@@HorridVO ahhh I was just curious if you found out that in Attack of the toybots there’s only 3 playable small levels for multiplayer and the rest is like not accessible.

I'd love a sequel video where you cover the mobile versions of the games. I had a fun time with Volcano Island on DS.

heard elevatorstuck had to subscribe
I always found it cool how many actual games nickeloden IPs got. Cant say the same for some of the disney channel cartoons that I grew up with.
