My friend is so obsessed with epic Mickey that when I told him that they were making a remake of it, he said me telling him that was the happiest moment of his life💀
I’m a huge fan of epic Mickey and when my friend told me they were making a remake after he watched the Nintendo direct every light turned on in my brain
For me, Oswalds voice fit very well. He sounded charming/goofy, it fit in the world he was in. He also sounded like he has over 400 children, so that worked out for me lol (I also grew up with this Oswald and Frank Welker in general, so I can't see Oswald with a lighter voice😭)
Honestly I hate a thing about epic mickey 2 videos and thats the fact that nobody talks about the multiplayer, they play the game singleplayer and say "oswald ai suck" and thats it. Nobody talks about the coop you know the intare point of the game. Still good video
I only watched your video about Epic Mickey 1 and 2, but from them alone I can determine, based on your way of grading and reviewing these games, as well as your style of video, that we would totally be best friends irl.
I literally cried after watching the rebrushed trailer at first I thought it was a fan made trailer but I’m glad it’s not and if they announce a deluxe edition you now what I’m getting
Man that sucks that rebrushed is just the original game and is basically a remaster. I was soooo looking forward to an actual morality system or something. But no...maybe in another 14 years...
Controversial opinion, but I kinda like the finalized plot of EM2 better than the supposed original one. I think it would’ve been tacky to bring the blot back again. I always say this: I think the Mad Doctor could’ve worked great as the main antagonist if they would’ve spent more time explaining his character. In the first game they kind of left us on a “cliffhanger” unsure what happened to him after Lonesome Manor and he has a pretty good backstory and motive which is that he was so desperate for power that he turned himself into an animatronic so he could control the blot and now he’s dying so he wants to take everyone and everything with him for a chance to become a toon to save his life. But you’re right he does end up seeming unserious because we never get enough of that side of him. Anyways I actually liked your critique. It was refreshing to see somebody say something good about EM2 for once (even if it was only 1/4th of the video) instead of just bagging on it and repeating the same 3 grievances about the camera and Oswald and the story. I swear y’all mouth breathers can’t hate on Epic Mickey 2 enough but then cry and wonder why the franchise failed and hasn’t gained any attention…
really good points all throughout! i never really played the second game to it's fullest, and watching this, i understand why to an extent... it's really sad how it was generally rushed out the door when the original had a lot of genuine love and care put into it :( it's because of epic mickey that oswald is one of my favorite characters in general and to see a premiere game where he's playable just screw it up hard just makes me lament this series once again. also spoilers for the actual video, but the mid review of castle of illusion was pure genius, as someone who also enjoyed your original review. absolutely love this one, i appreciate the work you put into giving these games their fair dues.
thanks a ton for the kind words! this was definitely one of the toughest videos i've put together yet, so i'm glad you and others seem to be really enjoying it!
People are way too harsh on the morality system of the first game. I think it does just enough without getting in the way of the compelling storyline between Mickey and Oswald. Now the second game…there’s no story to tell. I think this was the game they should’ve expanded upon it, and it could have lead to new tension between Mickey and Oswald.
also according to something i read about is that the reason he didn't want voice acting is because he wanted it like the old cartoons where they just made noises and didn't talk
There's some things I agree with and I think you got a solid point on, in particularly the art direction of the Epic Mickey 2 being inferior to the original game especially since the art direction contradicts and clashes with the original's. I however, don't agree with your take that the inclusion of voice acting in The Power Of Two contributes towards the lighter tone of the game and that game would be better off without it. Already the art direction, writing, and story are all pretty light in tone, the simple fact that a game may or may not have voice acting doesn't dictate the tonal narrative that a piece of media tries to present. The original game's tone was set because the concept was a cynical, moody, and fairly alienating game that told the story of Mickey ruining the lives of the citizens of Wasteland. If the original had voice acting that wouldn't really greatly change the experience that the original try to go for. Since most of the writing already reflected the cynical tone the story, voice acting would have been irrelevant in terms of affecting tone of narrative. I understand your statement about voice acting and the lack of it in Nintendo games, however Nintendo was never the type to actually utilize voice acting due to their simple narratives or lack of it in their titles for most games. So I don't think it as ever a factor to actually use any of them.
i recently replayed the game because of the rebrushed demo, and since i grew up with it, it wasn't that bad a task, but i really see why playing it could make you want to stop existing. also yes, the invisible part in floatyard can indeed fu***ng die.
2:55 you can press the menu button on the Xbox controller, and the cursor will stay perfectly still so you can turn the camera. In fact, if you keep it like that, the cursor will only move if you try and paint and thin things.
As a kid, i really enjoyed this one, the problem is, its a fine game, but not an Epic Mickey game. After playing the first one years later on wii emulator (i didnt had the wii back in the day) i realized how strong the first one is compared to this one. While i don't think that this one is completely terrible, it is definitely not good too.. Just okay for me. And yeah, the mad doctor plot twist was the weakest point, even as a kid i knew that he is evil.. so obvious.
I don't know if you ever got a chance to play this in co-op but Oswald was actually worse. Using the remote was insanely difficult and made it almost unplayable.
I actually talked about Ducktales Remastered in my original Epic Mickey video, but who knows? Maybe someday I'll give it a more in depth look than I did then!
@@HorridVO I never got to play the game, but if you ever do this bigger review, I'd be more than happy to know why it's so good in your eyes. Who knows, maybe if I play it in the future, I'll enjoy it just as much?
I grew up with the 3DS epic Mickey game and I thought it was fine. I mean kids aren’t really the best judges so idk maybe it really is horrible. People barely talk about epic mickey 2 and they talk about the 3DS game even less
I lost my copy years ago, and I remember only getting to the Disney Gulch area and stopped playing it, probably because I found the pacing to be boring or the controls that are worse than the original.
I played through the entirety of epic Mickey one but my dumb toddler brain got stuck looping in one area unable to find an escape so I restarted the game completely only to find out that my disc was scratched and I would get stuck on the loading screen to part 2 of the gulch
i'm curious, why do you want oswald's voice to be higher pitched? i think oswald's voice being lower is a good contrast to mickey and a better fit for the character
That's a fair point for sure! I just don't really vibe with a voice like that coming out of Oswald though, it makes him sound strange and almost off-putting even.
Sorry but I really dislike the lack of voice acting in Epic Mickey 1, to me it just takes my eyes away from the art and sometimes I can't read that fast so I just miss dialogue, this game is all about cartoons and voice acting is such a huge part of cartoons and cartoon history that feels weird not to have some The examples you bring such as Mario and Zelda are done way different from Epic Mickey, in those games they don't have cutscenes with dialogue you have to read in a time frame, they usually pause the action to let you read, then you press a buttom to go to the next text and animation, yes some Zelda cutscenes do act like that, but I argue that is also bad there
My friend is so obsessed with epic Mickey that when I told him that they were making a remake of it, he said me telling him that was the happiest moment of his life💀
It is tbh.
Epic Mickey is a franchise which is very weird to get a remake but it's also just a really happy moment

Its actually crazy how your criticism for oswalds voice was actually changed in disney speedstorm, he sounds very simillar to cuphead in that game

Bro when I saw the trailer for Rebrushed- I was CRYING. 😭😭😭 this game is my childhood

Here’s my thought. Pull a Crash 4 its about Time. Completely retcon Power of Two and just go with the original concept or a new idea perhaps.

epic mickey 3 the devil in black
Instead of calling games like Spyro Reignited and Epic Mickey Rebrushed 'Remakes' or 'Remasters' you could call them 'Rebrushes'
It would be good if you made a full ducktales remastered video!
