Literally the simplest PSC custom-ware setup ive seen on youtube. You got me running in 30 min off a whim with an old pcs in the closet. Thank you so much for this, man!
Finally got round to doing this, incredibly straightforward thanks to this video guide. Amazing work and thanks! Do you have a guide regarding adding other systems and games onto this such as gameboy etc?
That's awesome! I'm glad the video was easy to follow! I only have how to add the PSP so far. I will need to get on making one for other company's systems.
Great video, just wanted to mention for those unaware, the USB current limit mod may help with USB compatibility issues, you can also use a USB powered hub as unsightly as it may be. You can find more info on the USB current limit mod linked in our wiki which you've already linked to above.
Thanks a bunch for your videos man. I don't think i could have done the mod if i didn't have you walking me through it step by step with this and the nes games. You made it really easy. I do have a question i was hoping you could help me with. How do you get true analog working? All i have is the d pad mapped to the left stick and never anything on the right stick. I tried using a retro fighters defender controller and going into retro arch input settings and setting it to retro gaming pad with analog but nothing. I turned on analog for the left stick it works well but only for the nes games and cant do both with analog at one time. Also tried the quick menu way of selecting which port gets standard or analog. Also tried an xbox1 and ps4 duelshock controller with an 8bitdo adapter 2 black. The ps4 controller will not pair but works with the charging cable. The xbox1 controller pairs but glitches out the games at around the 20 min mark with slowdown sound issues and inputs not registering, still no analog. I heard the grey 8bitdo adapter works well but i cannot find one anywhere. Is the red brown one a good bet? Also i heard i have to downgrade the 8bitdo's firmware to 2.0 to get it to pair with the ps4 controller but i don't see an option for that on their site. Sorry for the massive post but wanted to let you know what i was up against.
I've followed the guide down to the letter, but Project Eris just won't install itself onto the console. Even though I purchased one of the compatible USB drives, I think that might be the issue

@UltimusPrime I'm using the USB stick plugged into slot 2 as shown. I've seen though on the support page it only says Scandisk USB stick upto 64gb is supported...
I tried same last night with SanDisk 128gb cruzer...didn't work. I guess we need that data cable to draw more power. Or do the initial mod with 16gb USB

I did have this issue a few times. I had to wait for a while before it would boot up. I switched flash drives and it worked again. I am not sure what causes it though.

I use 8bitdo controllers. They have a USB dongle that lets you play any wireless controller so you could use the PS4 or PS5 controllers with it wirelessly
Hi! Idk if you've tried it already, but to my understanding, you do need to use the 2nd port and a compatible flash drive to install Eris, as the unmodded PSC won't recognize the OTG otherwise. The modded PSC unlocks the ability to use OTG cables for flash drives as well as other USB accessories, like Wi-Fi adapters to manage your files via Wi-Fi with another special program on your PC, or wireless adapters for controllers, like those made by 8BitDo that allow you to use 8BitDo controllers, Wiimotes, Wii U Pro controllers, PS4/PS5 and Xbox controllers.
You could put it on the system memory but it only has 16gb so you wouldn't get a very big library. I suggest putting it on a flash drive. They are super cheap.

This worked perfectly for me. So your guide will work for everyone, thank you. But I would like the bios from my PS Classic. Is that in one of these files?
Even without adding the extra flash, the mod is worth it just for replacing all the PAL versions with NTSC versions. That said, the quality of emulation on the classic is still so poor that I think I'd rather save up for an ODE for my original PS.
Strange, I have seen this comment a few times about the run speed or quality of the emulation. I personally don't have any issues running any of the emulators?
@@UltimusPrime Admittedly I have a lot less experience playing of these, having only tried out a friend's while they showed me how "disappointing" it was, but I recall finding out that a number of the PAL games were designed to run at 50hz and forcibly played at 60hz causing issue, while others had lots of little graphical anomalies breaking up geometry a bit more than I see on original hardware. However, it occurs to me that this mod very well might also provide a better emulator as well, which might mitigate things. One thing's for sure, if I end up owning one down the line, I'm immediately replacing the PAL versions with NTSC to resolve the poor decisions made there, if nothing else. Thank you again for the guide.
@@Dark_Jaguar I also heard rumors about poor quality of PS classic, they even get rid of PSP/Vita's PSX emulator and put a brand new one. I am trying to revive my old dusted PSX with paralel port and buy a PSIO adapter to play directly from SD cards. Wish me luck!
@@OneDonTadeo Hope it goes well for you! The PSIO adapter is certainly an easier route than installing the optical drive emulator, though the tradeoff is less compatibility. If you don't have soldering skills, it's an understandable option!
@@UltimusPrime thanks very much....I have large capacity storage but it won't work because its 3.0 and resorted to a 8gb usb that is an older version like 2.0 and it worked....
Which Sonic game are you trying to play? If it's for the Genesis, I recommend making a folder for Genesis and not just a standalone "Sega" folder because Sega made more than just one console and it makes it easier to find your games. If it's Sonic Adventure, I think you'll need a bios for the Dreamcast but I'm not 100% sure because I don't emulate Dreamcast games. Likewise for Saturn Sonic games, you'll probably need a Bios file. It also depends on which core you pick. Don't pick Blastem if you're trying to play a Genesis Sonic game, I could never get it to run properly under Retroarch. (The standalone emulator for PC works fine though... not sure why it doesn't work for me in Retroarch...)
Any USB drive that isn't compatible can work if you format it with "mini tool partition wizard" and set the acollation size to 32 kilobytes. Delete the partition, create a new one, pick fat32 and then name it SONY in all caps at the top the change the little box on the right to say 32 kilobytes then press okay and then don't forget to hit apply at the bottom left so it will actually do the work. There might be another program or whatever. I think changing the thing to 32 made it work. I don't know
Can you send me a modded flash drive? With all games already loaded. Shooting games wrestling games twisted metal 2 007 , silent hills, syphon filters, stuff like that Tony hawk pro skater was good

You may have to try a different drive. I had issues with a few drives until I found the one I used in the video

Awesome! Thank you so much!

I also heard rumors about poor quality of PS classic, they even get rid of PSP/Vita's PSX emulator and put a brand new one.
Remember that some games were made for PAL first, like Medievil.
I need help, does a SD card work for hacking the ps1 classic?
Yes it does work but you would need a USB card reader for it to connect to the PS classic
@@UltimusPrime thanks very much....I have large capacity storage but it won't work because its 3.0 and resorted to a 8gb usb that is an older version like 2.0 and it worked....
Where do I get roms?
You can find them online just by searching on Google. The first couple of sites work great. I can't post links on here for where they are.
what happens if you dont wait till it turns
orange lol
You have a chance at bricking it. Small chance. I've never had it happen but it has a chance
I can't get sonic on it I try everything you show
Which Sonic game are you trying to play?
Can I get the PS Classic bios during this process?
Is there anyone selling preloaded usb sticks like this so that I don't have to bother with this process or hunt down ROM's myself?
They're usually on Amazon, but it's much cheaper to buy your own drive and set it up. Etsy might have them too.
great, thanks buddy
No problem! Thanks for watching!
good stuff
good ultimus prime😮
Any USB drive that isn't compatible can work if you format it with "mini tool partition wizard" and set the acollation size to 32 kilobytes.
Delete the partition, create a new one, pick fat32 and then name it SONY in all caps at the top the change the little box on the right to say 32 kilobytes then press okay and then don't forget to hit apply at the bottom left so it will actually do the work.
There might be another program or whatever. I think changing the thing to 32 made it work. I don't know
yeah ig but i mean im not finna buy ts
Can you send me a modded flash drive? With all games already loaded. Shooting games wrestling games twisted metal 2 007 , silent hills, syphon filters, stuff like that Tony hawk pro skater was good
Unfortunately that's not possible. You need to follow steps in the creation of the drive that uses YOUR PS classic console only.
I guess I need to buy a PS classic
Yes you do. Such a great little system. You can do so much with it.
Autobleem is simpler....
Wth it did work

Eris? dude your like 3 years behind ,

It is mandatory to have a PS Classic or you can use another
Hey! I installed the ps classic anniversary theme and when i choose it, save and reboot. It doesnt work? Any idea ?
How do you get the roms?
If you Google it, the first few sites work well. I can't give any other details on roms.
