- On September 23rd, 2022, Filip Babicz climbed the wall of Grand Capucin (3838m) above Mont Blanc’s glaciers in the time of just 49 minutes. Normally, climbing the face takes around eight hours. The video tells this extraordinary achievement.

Sono alpinisticamente troppo romantico per apprezzare appieno queste "corse" così' preparate e studiate e che finiscono con la gioia per il tempo, cioè uno sterile numero già pronto a essere migliorato in futuro. Mi era piaciuta invece la salita e discesa di Alex Huber, il primo a fare su e soprattutto "giù" dal Capucin senza corda, solo mani e piedi, lungo la via del filmato.
Io stesso 25 anni fa feci (involontariamente) una "corsa" solitaria senza guardare il cronometro, sulla via più a destra (Voyage), ma in quel caso l'obiettivo non era certo salirla speed; l'avevo ripetuta solo una volta e la mia sfida era farcela da solo, su. una via difficile e carica di storia, slegato fino al 6a/6b e autoassicurato sopra questo grado. Comunque complimenti, so cosa vuol dire scalare slegato e quanta concentrazione ci vuole, se poi si corre ancor di più!

I climbed a bit on the area - relatively easy stuff - c'est pas physique, c'est electrique on the Eperon, and the Rebuffat on the Midi (but finishing up the Midi Sonne).
I constantly ached in my heart to climb the Grand Capucin. But sadly it was too hard for me.
It stands there, so alluring, begging to be climbed.

You have to take a rope with you on the climb or downclimb all the way from the top. Having a rope already placed at the top nullifies the speed of the climb since you have to add on the time taken for yourself or someone else to have climbed up to put it there in the first place. Anyway a memorable slice of your life.
Look carefully at my back. I'm wearing a jacket with a rope for rappels. The climb was executed in pure self-sufficiency style, carrying all equipment - a master rule of all my records.

This is not free solo cause of harness, and bad he did not wear helmet. Huber made it in a much better/clever/risky way... This should be no news...
I think he needed the harness to rappel the route. A helmet isn't going to help if he falls...
Not gonna lie the editing is obnoxious. Would've like to stay on some takes and see actual movies completed instead of just costant drone movies around the edge of the Rock...
