“Should we get Applebees instead?” “No” Lmao I cracked up at that
The immediate cutaway made it 10x funnier lol
I had to go back and look at that part😂
Should of got some applebees😅😊
@@Mr21scott oh hush, I’m gay and eat their food. As far as fast food, they’re better than most.
@@parkerhowell7560 same its bussin 😂
dude idk if you and Emily are together idk much about that part of your life but damn put a ring on her finger shes amazing
I agree 1,000,000%
It’s completely unnecessary to get the government involved into your personal relationships!
@@emily_0929 It may happen one day, don’t lose hope!
Lol and he said he bought another car! I told my girlfriend I won’t buy my next car until I buy her the ring early next year!
She can’t help but laugh!
Why such a fan of black interiors? Too much like sitting inside a dark cave.
You two are really cute together, especially the drive through part lol
Nice looking suv and glad its not a CVT and all those physical buttons are so refreshing. But it should honestly have a V6 or I6, or at least the option for one.
They had a V6 option in 2013. My dad is the proud owner of one. the 2GR FE is not to be underestimated. A shame they don't sell that anymore and are trying to take it from him (by mailing a 15k credit offer towards any new vehicle). No, he is not getting rid of our 100k mile sweetheart.
We took ownership of our Grand Highlander 3 weeks ago. The 2.4 turbo with 8 speed transmission does any excellent job. Doesn’t feel underpowered at all. We got 23mpg on our first tank of mostly highway driving. On a recent road trip we got 25-27 MPG. Gas mileage seems to improve as the motor breaks in. Very comfortable to road trip in. Ours is a Platinum and there was a bit of a learning curve with all the new tech for me, but we are really happy with our Grand Highlander. Time will tell about the reliability of the 2.4 turbo motor.
@@freedomlineman3105Have you tried Kia tilluride or Hyundai palisade? What do you think compared to this one?
@@black.bird. I did drive a Hyundai Palisade and actually was quite impressed with it. It drove very nice and was loaded with more standard features. The quality just seemed a bit less than Toyota?? The Tellurides were the only brand in our area with $5000 markups so I didn’t even pursue driving one. Hoping the Grand Highlander lives up to the hype and it reliable. Time will tell I suppose.
That's great video. Please do more videos with Emily. ❤
petition to bring Emily along on every road trip and pretty much every video
i second this
3rd this
I always notice your gentleman's shoe dirt shake-off prior to entering the vehicle. CLASSY.
Captain seats = fire. I'm also a sucker for convenient compartments like the one on the passenger side. Just fold a towel or something to keep stuff from sliding and then it's perfect
You guys have such a fun dynamic in this video ❤
These two are so adorable together! Lots of good information in this video.
I really appreciated the demonstration of third row leg room with 2 people. Excellent! Thanks.
This video was great! Loved the Chick fil A drive thru! I'd like to see this exact format with Telluride, CX90 etc.
I appreciate every little thing you point out. No observation you make is useless. Thanks for a great video❤
24:36 My man.... I love you but you are making me very self concious about my non-existing relationship...
😔😔
Great video. I'm not sure if it was just me or if anyone else experienced this, but I started to get a little motion sick from all of the camera movement starting around the 3:00 minute mark. I haven't seen any of your other videos, but in this particular case, a motion stabilizer or even a 360 camera (if you plan to keep the camera mounted to your body) might be worth looking into. Or if you have a second person with you, it might help to have them hold the camera stable while you do the run through. 😄
I noticed there are two different Topher car reviewers and love your videos!! I love the genuine/everyday activity incorporation in this review and you made me want to get chickfila as well!🤣
Ayeeee the dynamic duo is back! I loved it when y'all took that X1 on that roadtrip, so I'm glad you're doing another video together. Y'all are perfect together :).
Nice video. I like the grand highlander but is it really 50k worth? Seems a little light on features/luxury for the money
Came to let you know I really appreciate your dedication to merging onto the highway at highway speed.
+1 to great video and we love Emily. 13:42 is also hilarious
Were you able to get the lane keeping and lane tracing to work properly?
Would like to know how comfortable the rear coach seats are for 300 to 400 mile road trips
I got immediately hungry for some nuggets as you ordered, save me some! 😂😂😂😂
hangry😂
A smaller displacement engine doesn’t have that much to do with reliability. Toyota also is no stranger to building great turbo engines from the legendary 2JZ that everyone and their grandma knows, and also the recent GR turbo 3 cylinders. I understand the skepticism but I think there’s no tangible reason why it would or would not be reliable
We will be driving this area later on this year in our new Grand Highlander Limited Hybrid. Our loop will be from Maine to Sturgeon Bay, Wi, Upper PI, St Ignas, down thur Midland, Frankenmuth and others around there. Mars, Cheese Castle, a few Apple Orchards, and who knows what else.
how is the power/acceleration with the hybrid?
@@hkn125 later as in fall, and later as in next week we pick it up:) I’ll be driving it from Maine to Beaufort SC., the next day and back to Maine 4 weeks later- we should end up putting about 3,000 miles or so within the next 5 weeks, after which we’ll have a good idea of how it does mpg wise. Not great because we are FULLY loaded, like really loaded but this but this isn’t the only trip, planned as note above, ancnthr fall trip will be really loaded up too
@@hkn125 not being a hot rodder anymore I’m hoping he lack of power if there is any won’t be a big deal. Also will be interested in seeing the power difference going down from Maine to SC as that is empty, the 5 weeks or some of the 5 weeks following will be fully loaded. Ok so only the later 2 weeks will be fully loaded 3-4 weeks in Beaufort area will be just me and the misses
Missing the pink bottle 😄. Awesome review 😊
The limited edition should have had the moonroof by default. XLE could get away without moonroof. Interesting!!
Another question: how easy was to order the vehicle? You might be lucky because it is not a hybrid. It’s a nightmare to order a hybrid in my area.
Have you seen the XLE in person. The interior is very cheap, looking and feeling.
Does this Grand Highlander or the Lexus TX have a softer ride, particularly on rougher/bumpy surfaces?
Lexus
watch the savagegeese reviews. Lexus FTW.
I always forget you're Michigan based and get all excited when I hear you mention places like Frankenmuth
looks like a lot of small corrections on the road. Steering seems overboosted? Considering this or the CX90, but hate overboosted teering.
i love these road trip videos and it makes me realize i need to go on one soon
Donners seemed like a total maze when I went, blows my mind a store like that is profitable
Can you do comparison video with the honda pilot?
I just purchased a 2024 Turbo Highlander, not the Grand. If it can handle the Grand, it makes me feel better. I traded in my hybrid Venza. I’m an ultra low mileage driver, and I might need a new hybrid battery, with only 40,000 miles on the car. Time, not mileage, kills the hybrid battery. That’s why I went back to gas. Car Care Nut has several great videos out on how to treat the turbo. Let the car warm up to circulate the oil, change oil every 5,000 miles, let it cool for a minute or two, before shutting it off, when you’ve been pushing it. Otherwise, the oil stays in the Turbo and boils.
Terrible mileage when I never got below 26-27mpg in a '22 Limited Highlander with the V6 going 90mph, at 70-80, it hit 29mpg and probably average with hills was about 28 over the course of 2k mile trip one way and same coming back.
Good review... one of the best on TH-cam.... just FYI... I lived in Michigan (West Bloomfield) for 43 years then retired and relocated out of state.... It's good to a review from my home state.... AAA+++
This is how the front end should have been on the new 2025 Camry. It looks modest and stylish. This is what all the Camry fans have been expecting, not the giant Prius/Hyundai front end it got.
they should’ve called it a RAV9 🤣
have
Or rav 8 lol.
Ok ngl that would’ve been dope lol
“Should we stop at Applebees instead? No” 21:08 idk why but that had me dying
Straight up “No.” Consider her feelings hurt 😂 just kidding
Compare with the Honda pilot elite?
I just got a hybrid max platinum and we loving it more and more..Yes it's comfy and quiet and oh the power is max is power awesome were getting about 26 mpg but we havnt done a road trip yet and only gone 155 miles around town amd on freeway. The hybrid max has lots of power on the freeway. Oh did I say I love it 😅 will yes. I only wish they would of had the wood grain look instead of the weird matrix plastic look. Love the light gray sueded seats and center console fits my small purse. We have lots of spaces to put stuff too. I can't wait to go on a road trip!
I really like watching you road tripping. Might sound weird but I sort of feel like I am there with you. Really wish you guys would post a cross country or long range road trip and bring us along. Just film it all - no edits required. Post 48 hours of it or whatever time it takes so all those who can't do it get a good feel. Is that something you guys might try just as test even?
Hipsters In Portland: Excuse me sir, I am not white... I am coastal cream, thank you very much!
The headrest in most new cars are tipped too far forward. It doesn't allow good posture but was the cheapest way for manufacturers to meet safety legislation.
21:08 "should we stop at Applebee's instead?"
*0.1 secs later*
"No."
The Grand Highlander does look like its mom (RAV4) and dad (4 Runner) I think the Grand Highlander does take more after mama though.
Also, Polynesian sauce is the way to go!
I really wanted the Grand Highlander Hybrid but due to an accident I couldn’t wait the TWELVE MONTHS for it to come in.
Have the Atlas SEL which I will say I am loving. But know I will miss the Toyota rock solid reliabiiity.
13:42 rare footage of a curse word on the topherdrives channel
The mpg is surprisingly bad to me. I get more out of my passport and that’s got an actual V6
Frankenmuth, awesome stop, great area
What most I´d like in this review is the motor sound.
А что в США западло включать поворот из 3 в 1 ряд?
Cкоро Путину ты будешь нужен как пушечное мясо
Emily is such a lovely person u better take care of her !:)
you should do a trip in a pathfinder 2024
I have a grand highlander xle trim
Thank you so much for this review!
0:14 Toyota's cars are very important in the Arabic countries because they are a stronger car
Nice review ! And if possible can you do review of new Range Rover evoque and new Range Rover velar ?
But don´t worry kids , everything is gonna be all right.
A: “Should we stop at…?” 🤔
B: “NO”😠
Thanks for reproducing a real life road trip! 😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have lots of fun suggesting unplanned stops… He gets adorably annoyed… So cute. 🥰🥰🥰
changing lanes without indicating....
Great video
Not impressed with toyota anymore. Too many problems with GH. And the hood vibrates and the metal is so thin
What other problems exist with the Grand Highlander besides the Hood edge movement / vibration at certain engine RPM's probably due to the Hood being aluminum.
Please provide some specifics on other issues or they don't exist 🙄
@@MrSkeptical cv axle makes noise, system malfunction, hood misalign not equal gap from right and left side, transmission issues, the car unlock randomly, pano monitor view is off a bit on the right side. The paint have bubbles, too many to mention sir.
@@MrSkeptical looked at a base model XLE that they had on the dealership floor doors are tinny and the interior quality is very cheap, looking looking and feeling.
We had a 2021 Highlander platinum and these SUVs are not quiet on the highway. I can’t speak for the four-cylinder turbo that they are using now or the hybrid but the V6 in the one we had was always revving around hunting for gears on the highway I guess to save gas. It just was never a quiet SUV when noise starts around 50 mph and gets worse even though I switch the tires out to the best Michelin’s road noise got considerably louder the longer we owned it. We traded it in for a 2024 4Runner Limited.
Never buy a 1st model year
@@euci3207 so you are claiming in year two they’re going to use better metal and better interior materials? I think I’ve seen that happen once in my life when Honda got criticized severely for the 2011 refresh, I believe it was on the civic and they heard the complaints and drastically changed the car very quickly.
Once I found a missing person on the highway and he has a butcher knife and I didn´t knew his intentions, maybe he was missing.
for every man who shakes dirt off his shoes before getting into his car… there is a woman who will have her foot in places it shouldnt be😂😂😂😂
the sad truth is that I don´t know what else to do here because in this place everything is a complete mess and I want to say to everyone that´s all fake here.
Here in This Damn place all is like a impossible mission, here is a shit
