Guitar Armrest Install (original foam tape)

In this video, I'll show how to choose an armrest, fitment, and installation as well as the reason you will want an armrest on your guitar. I'm not sure the sound test of muting can be heard, but here's some information that may help you understand why you want to install one of these.
What Does It Do?- This armrest should also improve sound quality. A simple test will show what we mean. Place your guitar on your lap face up and strum it once. Now place a few fingers on the top and listen carefully, you will hear a dampening of the tone and a bit of the projection. This is because the top is the “soundboard,” the more it resonates, the better the tone, volume, and projection. Imagine how this must sound when your forearm is resting on the top while playing, dampening such a large area of the top. Testing shows, with a resting arm, you lose between 15% and 20% of the power and projection!

Careful with alcohol. If it’s poly it’s okay, but most nicer guitars use custom-blended “shop varnishes” that often contain various amounts of shellac. When you hit shellac with alcohol, it will immediately melt the shellac, turning it temporarily sticky and permanently cloudy. Needless to say this would be even worse with a French polish guitar, which is 100% shellac.

Hummmmm.... not quite sure what your question is. The Armadillo armrest does adhere to various widths of guitars/basses. This is shown in the website. It's function really doesn't change much from one instrument to another. Hope that helped. Ed

Armrest on normal non-DT steel is only an ornament. I bet most people who want it don't really know why it was invented in the first place. 😂😂
