It's episodes like this why you're the only RV creator I still subscribe to. So many channels become strictly travel or tourism centered, it's your RV maintenance & use that I learn the most. Idea for future, have Sue actually use the washer& dryer, how much water does it take, do you ever run it outside of a campground etc.

So I guess I missed why you have to start/stop/start your engine to bring in certain slides? When my Mountain Aire is up on jacks and level, that's when I put the slides out and when I'm ready to leave bring them back in. Lower the coach or store jacks and then start the engine! Now if you have to have the engine running to bring in the main slide with that battery battery bank you have, maybe something is wrong? BUT if so why don't you bring in the other slides while on the jacks, lower the coach/store the jacks, start the engine and bring in the main slide? That way only starting the coach once!

I love this video and you guys sharing your experiences, keep it up. Try Boeshield T9 on your jacks next time, it's a much better product for that application.
T9 is a great product but not really the thing to use on HWH leveling jacks. WD40 is the factory recommended product. T9 is great lube for Kwikee steps because of its ability to solidify to a grease like state after it has crept into the tight areas of the step mechanism .But if it works for you, use it.

Catching up on videos. Been busy seeing the Canadian Maritimes. Great advice in the video. Diesel engines do not need much tome to warm up. If idling it is best to get the idle up, as you mentioned. It does two things, it runs the air pumps and airs up the coach faster, and it promotes better diesel combustion and reduces the risk of cylinder wash down.

Drive off with shore power still connected!!!! Ooops did it twice with my 35'boat...12 years with the RV not yet...never say never...but the final walk a round usually works wonders
You won't believe this maybe, but JUST LAST NIGHT,.......I got out of bed after almost a 1/2 hour, ready to drift off,....to ADD the slap strap reminders to my steering wheel to unplug! We were in an ODD campground, with the power on the passenger side, and I was afraid I would make a mistake and rip out my cord. Usually I leave the cord reel door open when packing up the wet bay pipes, so I will see THE OPEN DOOR in the mirror when leaving. But today,.... I had already done this so we could leave early, so my cord reel bay door was shut! BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!
Thanks, good video on going thru the departure steps, most all that verify I am doing the right things on our rig. One item I would suggest is to open the door or window when bringing in the slides. There is a significant air pressure change that occurs when retracting or deploying the slides. If you don't open a window or better yet, the door, it puts undue strain on the entrance door. Always enjoy your videos, in fact got me to jump into diesel pusher travel upon retirement 3 years ago. Aloha!

Excellent detail and explanation of your processes. Many/most fail to show this side of RVing. After many years of pulling our Travel Trailer around, we've got our processes (only one slide) down pretty well, as most everything requires seeing and touching! We also complete a detailed walk around before pulling chocks and pulling away (as process I do the SAME WAY EVERY TIME). We've only left one thing behind - a rubber bung for an oversized sewer dump - one time, but we've seen plenty of hose fittings, etc. (and I think RV parks collect that kind of thing when they find it). We did watch a SuperC try to turn the wrong way out of his site and tail swing caught the electric pedestal (oops). Most recently, we saw a travel trailer pop off the hitch and crash to the pavement - at very low speed (luckily for them). Thanks for sharing!
Just a comment about building air preshure. Cummins does say that when you are starting a cold engine (one not at operating temps) you should engage the fast idle as soon as you have proper oil preshure. This increases the boost preshure enough that you burn all the fuel injected into the engine. If you don't it can cause the un burnt fuel to wash down your cylinder walls (removing the lubricating oil) and contaminate your oil. Once the engine warms up it will burn all the fuel at low idle.
I think Newmar is one of the best production coaches, but it still needs plenty of TLC and money to keep it in shape. It is the price of admission to the llifestyle.
Yes, WD40 for those jack shafts, especially when having been parked for extended periods and near salt water. The solvent action is needed to clean them up for smooth and timely retraction and storage. As others have noted, that gap on the full wall slide is scary. Mark I see you're still using the original dometic thermostat. The micro Aire digital wifi/blue tooth replacement thermostat is the biggest no brainer upgrade for dometic AC and Oasis furnace control. It's literally plug and play. It's so easy even you could install it 😂
You know, I really struggled with that decision. I recently replaced the Dometic with the same one. Micro-Aire isn't smart enough to supply a trim ring to cover the wide hole pattern of older thermostats. Plus,.....I think the design of the control icons and colors & text looks too simple and cartoonish.

Do you still use your colored wrist straps for a departure check list? Ever since I saw you show yours I made a set and still use them. I quit wrapping them on the steering wheel and now just lay them out on the dash. That was a great suggestion. Yeah, and in 6 years I did pull out while still plugged in but it was last year and we were still in our driveway at home. I had moved the coach forward and plugged it in a different receptacle so I could connect my truck the night before. Came out in the morning and had the generator on, got in the coach and started out the driveway, looked back and spotted the cable. We got lucky and only broke the one receptacle on the house so it was a real easy fix. Lesson learned. Oh Yeah, I see some birthday wishes for Mark so Happy Birthday Mark. Mine was a little over a week ago and just hit the BIG 80 !!! The clocks seem to run faster as we age so keep RV'ng as much as you can while you can. Safe Traveling.

@@OurJourneyInMyles I was lucky as I was plugged into our receptacle on the side of our house rather than the one around the corner on the back of our house. If it was plugged into the one on the back of the house it might have gotten more hung up and ripped the power cord out of the coach instead of just popping the plug out. Could have been a real hard expensive lesson. ;-)
It's good, and I didn't wash it for 6 months prior to the boost we had done at 180 days. Time will tell,......but I no longer wanted to test, weather,tax, and expose to sun damage our 11 year old paint job. I wanted to do the best that I could for the paint job, and try to squeak as much time out of it as we can!

They are in our Amazon Store under "Internet Gear we use. They are NETGEAR Omnidirectional MIMO Antennas for our Verizon & ATT Jet Packs we use for internet. These antennas only work on certain jetpacks that have antenna "test" ports!
The Newmar Parts Department sells them,...........the front leading edge is beveled,........they are stiff plastic,..........they were at least $20/each. They will ship them to you!
Why did you change to lithium batteries when you are always at a rv campground? Expensive upgrade. You don’t travel a lot of miles between stops. Just wondering.
We just wanted to get away from the weak performance of AGM. Even how we travel, the low usability of lead acid batteries was getting to be a pain in the butt that we were done with. Diving a 500k motorhome with baby "pretend" batteries started to feel silly to us. So when we needed another battery refresh, we went all in. This rig had (2) sets of AGM from original owner, and (1) set with us.
I typically have it at 40 to 45p si,...........sometimes it will creep to 50 psi. Rig Max is 60 psi,.........when I did that one time I immediately had a few leaks. I stick with 40 to 45 psi now. Shower pressure is low. We are OK with that. We could run the water pump as well as city pressure to increase the flow. We just accept it.
I have used the pre set brass ones forever and the pressure always seems low. I bought one like yours and need to start using it but never investigated or asked anyone what they set theirs on. Thank you very much Mark!!

That's why we use NIRVC! We can still camp in the lot for free while it is in for repairs! All kidding aside, spending 3 or 4 weeks per years in repairs when you are a full time in a motorhome you are TRAVELING in,......not PARKED in is pretty standard in my circle of traveler friends! We all just plan it into our lives,.....
@PineRidgeRez the airbags are easy to replace. A lot of people get ripped off at maintenance shops. TH-cam shows you step by step on how to do most maintenance on an RV your self. But you don't want to learn then keep getting ripped off at maintenance shops.
You are too kind! The only air bag I can put into the rig is me. I am too old, too fat, too out of shape and too lazy. PLUS, I have nowhere to work on things and no desire. When I finally run out of money, I have decided to save money by selling the RV and buy a boat.
This has incentivized me to find a girlfriend because it seems like one needs to have a partner just to make sure the tow vehicle is hooked up properly and all of the running lights are working right 😂 I can’t unsee 🫣 the mess inside your rv 😜 All kidding aside, I always look forward to your videos. That sounds like sound advice Bill. I think that is what I usually do. I engage within a minute.

Steel wool is one of the best humane rodent repellants around - it's non-toxic, and it sends mice & co. back from whence they came.
We totally agree. We use stainless steel wool at our power and water connection openings.

I had moved the coach forward and plugged it in a different receptacle so I could connect my truck the night before. Came out in the morning and had the generator on, got in the coach and started out the driveway, looked back and spotted the cable. We got lucky and only broke the one receptacle on the house so it was a real easy fix. Lesson learned. Oh Yeah, I see some birthday wishes for Mark so Happy Birthday Mark. Mine was a little over a week ago and just hit the BIG 80 !!! The clocks seem to run faster as we age so keep RV'ng as much as you can while you can. Safe Traveling.
You won't believe this maybe, but JUST LAST NIGHT,.......I got out of bed after almost a 1/2 hour, ready to drift off,....to ADD the slap strap reminders to my steering wheel to unplug! We were in an ODD campground, with the power on the passenger side, and I was afraid I would make a mistake and rip out my cord. Usually I leave the cord reel door open when packing up the wet bay pipes, so I will see it in the mirror when leaving. But today,.... I had already done this so we could leave early, so my cord reel bay door was shut! BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!
@@OurJourneyInMyles I was lucky as I was plugged into our receptacle on the side of our house rather than the one around the corner on the back of our house. If it was plugged into the one on the back of the house it might have gotten more hung up and ripped the power cord out of the coach instead of just popping the plug out. Could have been a real hard expensive lesson. ;-)

It's good, and I didn't wash it for 6 months prior to the boost we had done at 180 days. Time will tell,......but I no longer wanted to test, weather,tax, and expose to sun damage our 11 year old paint job. I wanted to do the best that I could for the paint job, and try to squeak as much time out of it as we can!

They are in our Amazon Store under "Internet Gear we use. They are NETGEAR Omnidirectional MIMO Antennas for our Verizon & ATT Jet Packs we use for internet. These antennas only work on certain jetpacks that have antenna "test" ports!
Where did you get those pads that you put on the floor so the rollers of the slides to ruin your floor?
The Newmar Parts Department sells them,...........the front leading edge is beveled,........they are stiff plastic,..........they were at least $20/each. They will ship them to you!

Why did you change to lithium batteries when you are always at a rv campground? Expensive upgrade. You don’t travel a lot of miles between stops. Just wondering.
We just wanted to get away from the weak performance of AGM. Even how we travel, the low usability of lead acid batteries was getting to be a pain in the butt that we were done with. Diving a 500k motorhome with baby "pretend" batteries started to feel silly to us. So when we needed another battery refresh, we went all in. This rig had (2) sets of AGM from original owner, and (1) set with us.
What PSI do you set the fresh water regulator at so you don't blow out the water lines in your coach?
I typically have it at 40 to 45p si,...........sometimes it will creep to 50 psi. Rig Max is 60 psi,.........when I did that one time I immediately had a few leaks. I stick with 40 to 45 psi now. Shower pressure is low. We are OK with that. We could run the water pump as well as city pressure to increase the flow. We just accept it.
I have used the pre set brass ones forever and the pressure always seems low. I bought one like yours and need to start using it but never investigated or asked anyone what they set theirs on. Thank you very much Mark!!

When Sue was out disconnecting the electric it looked like your slide was still out a little, 24:32. Am I seeing something not there?
Service Manager Justin Townley and Shop Foreman Jim at NIRVC Atlanta voluntarily, on their own, looked at this and fixed it in 15 friggin minutes! My trans-torque bushing was loose. They tightened it and then re-timed the motor.

That's why we use NIRVC! We can still camp in the lot for free while it is in for repairs! All kidding aside, spending 3 or 4 weeks per years in repairs when you are a full time in a motorhome you are TRAVELING in,......not PARKED in is pretty standard in my circle of traveler friends! We all just plan it into our lives,.....
You could have put in the airbags yourself it's easy.

@PineRidgeRez the airbags are easy to replace. A lot of people get ripped off at maintenance shops. TH-cam shows you step by step on how to do most maintenance on an RV your self. But you don't want to learn then keep getting ripped off at maintenance shops.
You are too kind! The only air bag I can put into the rig is me. I am too old, too fat, too out of shape and too lazy. PLUS, I have nowhere to work on things and no desire. When I finally run out of money, I have decided to save money by selling the RV and buy a boat.
