- One man's dream to drive cross country in order to visit both major winter RV shows in one week, and the largest nomad gathering in the country. The journey begins in Tampa, Florida all the way to Oceanside, California.
In this feature film I document my travels in early 2018, from Tampa, Florida to Oceanside California. I spend a few days in the Arizona desert meeting up with some friends.

YES INDEED!! I watched these videos during covid lock down, when everyone was stuck at home. I was so pleased to be able to watch these videos and travel along in the comfort of my home, watching on my big screen TV. What beautiful travel videos!!

Been there done that. More times than most. Started when I was 17 and quit school. It must be the nomad in me? Joined the Army and said so long to a life I hated. After my Honorable discharge 5 years later I'd been around the world 4 times, crossed the Pacific by sea and by air multiple times, been in a war, lived in two foreign countries, and crossed the U.S. 6 times, and Canada once, amongst other things. Best experience any young man could hope for. Sure beat the hell out of high school.

This guy has a gift; to be able to take a solo road trip and make it so engaging that we are drawn into a 3 hour ride for the highlights. I would love to hear how you started your journey and what all you faced in life it will be an inspiration for people like me who are actually planning or have already completed their projects.

Why would anyone give this a thumbs down? It’s a guy driving across America in his caravan. He shows many places of interest, some great views, he doesn’t talk too much, he even made his own music for the trip. You thumbs down people should get a life...petty

Got done watching your road trip from Tampa to California and I was absolutely enjoying every second of your video. I’m really glad that I found your channel, I used to drive all over the country for work. I was on the road 40 weeks out of the year. Now I am in a different chapter of my life and I miss those rest area sunrises. In time, I will buy an RV and get back on the road.

I'm amazed at how many people I run into who aren't aware nor have considered going on a roadtrip. I on the other can't comprehend staying home bored, I've taken many short road trips as well. There is so much to see.
My Dad was German and lived out half his retired life in a camper like this guy's, describing his own travels in an accent just as thick. He spent the last few years of his life in Ft. Myers at an RV park while working as a baker at the Hyatt. Dad finished his 55 year stay on American soil the same way he started it: Baking and traveling. (actually his first vehicle in this country was a boat, and he took it to work on the Hudson River in NJ each day). He found work wherever he went and pretty much "died with his apron strings on", exactly as he vowed he would.
Dad also for a time had a pop-up camper that he pulled around in a Jetta Wagon. Seriously, just being inside of this guy's station wagon and hearing his accent gives me goosebumps. The truth his he is way closer to my age than Dad's,.though..Dad would have just turned 81 and I just turned 50.
Dad's been gone for 6 years now...but I still get to hear a nice accent when I travel with my wife. She's from Peru!

this is by far the best road trip ive ever taken....felt like i was riding along with him on a mission to get to cali...and the drone work was spot on..hope he does more road trips.....

Great video! 25 years ago, I also did a solo trip from South Florida(Ft. Lauderdale) to West Texas(San Angelo). It was an amazing trip! I also took I-75 and then I-10, so seeing your video brought back some great memories! Thank you for this amazing video!

As I was making my cafe' "tinto" you were giving some context , history of the destination.Had to chuckle for a moment, because I could almost hear my late Dad's voice ,as he would do the very same thing when we traveled as a family.When he retired invited me to accompany my parents to Spain and Morocco .Wished that had taken him up on it now o,f course.And my late Mom sure wished that I had gone-if only to give her a break -cos my Dad was up before the rooster & always ready for a new destination, the people ALL the history that goes with it.

I love this video so much, I’ve been planning to move to California, San Jose when Im older. This video showed me what its gonna be like moving from florida to california. I'm not entirely sure how I stumbled upon this, I'm not an RVer or even watched anything particularly related but... I enjoyed every minute of it. I'll likely never be in a position to travel the US like this but this video has given a great taste of what it would be like. Some truly beautiful places and your narrative is spot on. How can you not be in a position to do something like this? Everybody has hard things in life but unless you just can't drive, have medical issues, or some other unknown I don't see why not. State parks are 20-40$ a night and dispersed campsites are free, heck walmart or cracker barrel park. Use a high gas mileage car so you don't tow. You can do a month trip for less than a grand that way. I am going to do 24 days with a family of 6 for right around 1G minus gas "8 dispersed sites" 8 federal sites 10-20$, and cali just went up to 40$ on most of their sites :( so 320 for cali camping alone.. from 25 to 35 then an extra "fee%" then having to pay park fees... cali will be 700 of it and 5,500ish miles soon. Gas We 975$@3.89x13 tanks. Just say 1G with an oil change before and after :). You could cut that 2 G in half if you split it with somebody, then by 1/4 if you split it 4 ways...

I'm in the mood for some nostalgia tonight, his first RV, who's name I can never remember how to spell, and old Kia that took him back and forth across the US a few times. I just discovered this channel, better late than never! I made the 1-10 journey five times round trip from Key West to Santa Monica (later Beverly Hills when my friend moved) to visit my childhood buddy. I hate to fly. He would fly to see me in KW where I lived for 20 years and I would drive out west to visit him. Twice I made the drive with my blind, diabetic dog. She was the best travel buddy. Sadly she passed away after 17 years and sadly so did my dear friend who was also diabetic. He was only 48. Anyway, Texas is a looong state. So is FL when you drive up and down the east coast which I have done many times as well. The longest stretches are San Antonio to El Paso and Jacksonville to Key West. Texas smells like BBQ and the gas is cheap. I've heard gunshots in both states while stopping for rest or fuel but never in any other state. Once I drove for what seemed like forever through TX and the only other living thing I saw on the ground was a coyote. I love to drive, it's great to not be in a hurry and enjoy the journey. You have an awesome RV, I'm so jealous! I stayed in hotels, wish I had an RV like yours. My favorite hotel is in Tucson, AZ. I broke down on my way from CA to FL on 1-10 just off the exit to the El Conquistador where I stayed with my dog for 3 days while my car was being fixed. Great cabins with fireplaces (dog friendly) and orange trees outside the door with big juicy oranges. Your video is bringing back memories of all my cross country adventures. I'm taking a drive from Maryland to West Palm Florida this Spring. First time I'll be doing such a long drive!!
I love the trip to the west coast. Never travelled the southern route but I drove I-40 from NC to LA pulling a horse trailer. That was an adventure in itself for sure!
This brings back some memories for me because I joined my daughter for a nearly identical road trip in August 2005. She invited me to meet her in Fort Walton Beach, Florida where she traveled to from her home in San Diego to buy a Jaguar XJ-8, and to drive it with me on I-10 back to SD. I flew to Florida from San Jose (nearest my home in the Santa Cruz Mountains) via LA, Phoenix & Atlanta on a beautiful sunny day of viewing across the nation from the air. It was the first time I saw Florida, fine white sandy beach and all!
We caught many highlights along the way, top down in the convertible like a modern Jack Kerouac! First time I visited New Orleans! I showed her around San Antonio which I remembered from my Army Medic training back in the '60's; the Alamo was closed, but I had to show her the River Walk which was even more beautiful & charming than I'd remembered, and she was blown away! By the time we got to her home in San Diego, we'd just completed a spectacular road trip almost entirely in great weather!
It was fortuitous timing that I'd finally gotten to see a major bucket-list item then; New Orleans. It was *not* a fortuitous time for New Orleans a week later when Hurricane Katrina nearly wiped it off the map!

Just came across this channel. Really enjoying so far. EDIT: So I sat here this evening crocheting and watching your trip and I was fascinated by the scenery, the little places you visited, all the little vistas and lookouts. Thank you so much for sharing it! My husband and I wanted to do RV trips after the kids were grown. Unfortunately, he passed in 2011, and maybe someday I'll be able to do it. But until then, I love watching other people sharing their trips. Thanks again!
OMG. My wife left Largo Fl as a contract trama nurse and landed in Lake Havasu City. She left December 7th 2017. LMAO. I lived in Qsite and now we travel full time in our 5th wheel. She knows this trip very well as she has gone back and forth a few times.....

I have discovered your channel and sub'd a few days ago. I love travelling from my armchair mostly and I feel like I'm actually travelling when I watch your amazing videos. I have a fifth wheel on some land in Florida, so I always get itchy to get there 2-3 times a year for 1-2 months at a time. I'm from Florida, grew up in the panhandle, but I have learned so much about the state just watching your videos. Things I never knew. The Destin video, took me home again, grew up north of there and visited the Destin/Ft. Walton/Panama City areas so many times..now I'm homesick, again, lol.Oh and of course your voice is so soothing with a touch of humor. One cannot help but smile when listening to you. Very pleasant. I also discovered your intro song is all yours and you are singing it. In case no one else has mentioned it, you are absolutely correct that Mesilla is pronounced "Me-see-yah" as this old gringo woman who grew up in Las Cruces some 50+ years ago would pronounce it.

There is not a lot to see from northern Florida to New Orleans unless you go to the beach. The George Wallace Tunnel is pretty cool.
