After my Honorable discharge 5 years later I'd been around the world 4 times, crossed the Pacific by sea and by air multiple times, been in a war, lived in two foreign countries, and crossed the U.S. 6 times, and Canada once, amongst other things. Best experience any young man could hope for. Sure beat the hell out of high school.

My Dad was German and lived out half his retired life in a camper like this guy's, describing his own travels in an accent just as thick. He spent the last few years of his life in Ft. Myers at an RV park while working as a baker at the Hyatt. Dad finished his 55 year stay on American soil the same way he started it: Baking and traveling. (actually his first vehicle in this country was a boat, and he took it to work on the Hudson River in NJ each day). He found work wherever he went and pretty much "died with his apron strings on", exactly as he vowed he would. Dad also for a time had a pop-up camper that he pulled around in a Jetta Wagon. Seriously, just being inside of this guy's station wagon and hearing his accent gives me goosebumps. The truth his he is way closer to my age than Dad's,.though..Dad would have just turned 81 and I just turned 50. Dad's been gone for 6 years now...but I still get to hear a nice accent when I travel with my wife. She's from Peru!

I'm not entirely sure how I stumbled upon this, I'm not an RVer or even watched anything particularly related but... I enjoyed every minute of it. I'll likely never be in a position to travel the US like this but this video has given a great taste of what it would be like. Some truly beautiful places and your narrative is spot on. Thank you for producing this. I very much look forward to watching all your past and future videos. Much love from the UK. 👍 PS. I've had that 'Driving to the West' song in my head all day at work. Catchy tune. 😄👍
Ditto from the other side of the pond. I'd love to visit Europe, especially the UK, but sadly the odds are against it. The UK looks like an amazing place to visit, including the quirky Brits! 😊 ❤ from the U.S.! 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Driving to the west...in my RV; Driving to the west... Extremely catchy tune.. yes, it has ground it's way into my synapses!!! It won't go awaaaay!!😂😉😎😖
How can you not be in a position to do something like this? Everybody has hard things in life but unless you just can't drive, have medical issues, or some other unknown I don't see why not. State parks are 20-40$ a night and dispersed campsites are free, heck walmart or cracker barrel park. Use a high gas mileage car so you don't tow. You can do a month trip for less than a grand that way. I am going to do 24 days with a family of 6 for right around 1G minus gas "8 dispersed sites" 8 federal sites 10-20$, and cali just went up to 40$ on most of their sites :( so 320 for cali camping alone.. from 25 to 35 then an extra "fee%" then having to pay park fees... cali will be 700 of it and 5,500ish miles soon. Gas We 975$@3.89x13 tanks. Just say 1G with an oil change before and after :). You could cut that 2 G in half if you split it with somebody, then by 1/4 if you split it 4 ways...
As I was making my cafe' "tinto" you were giving some context , history of the destination.Had to chuckle for a moment, because I could almost hear my late Dad's voice ,as he would do the very same thing when we traveled as a family. When he retired invited me to accompany my parents to Spain and Morocco .Wished that had taken him up on it now o,f course. And my late Mom sure wished that I had gone-if only to give her a break -cos my Dad was up before the rooster & always ready for a new destination, the people ALL the history that goes with it.
Great video! 25 years ago, I also did a solo trip from South Florida(Ft. Lauderdale) to West Texas(San Angelo). It was an amazing trip! I also took I-75 and then I-10, so seeing your video brought back some great memories! Thank you for this amazing video!
The dry, truthful dismissal of all the boring, inauthentic nonsense that so often confronts travelers is delightful, and a big part, for me, of what makes Robert's videos so fresh and enjoyable. Keep it up, and see you on the road.
Bravo, Traveling Robert! Time well spent. I'm a video professional, and you have taught me volumes on story telling, making visuals interesting, editing, the power of great soundtrack, etc. It was like a Master Class for me! You make it look so easy, but I know better - the hours of work and decision making were probably as big an effort as the driving, if not more so. Thank you for pulling it all together and making it work like it was a breeze!

I have discovered your channel and sub'd a few days ago. I love travelling from my armchair mostly and I feel like I'm actually travelling when I watch your amazing videos. The Destin video, took me home again, grew up north of there and visited the Destin/Ft. Walton/Panama City areas so many times..now I'm homesick, again, lol.Oh and of course your voice is so soothing with a touch of humor. One cannot help but smile when listening to you. Very pleasant. I also discovered your intro song is all yours and you are singing it. I am learning about the RV life and adventure through you!!! Thank you so very much!!! I am still looking at some older videos.
Aloha from the 50th State!!!

Robert is a Really good guy.
And he can cook and fix stuff.
Drive, drink India pale ail and explore.
Certainly was a pleasure driving with you, my dear friend. Driving to the West.
I'm amazed at how many people I run into who aren't aware nor have considered going on a roadtrip. I on the other can't comprehend staying home bored, I've taken many short road trips as well. There is so much to see.
One of the best you tubers ever ! Particularly like Prada in nada 😂 big nose Kate's saloon , the urinal in the gents WC is just a bathtub filled with ice !
PS.
❤ from the U.S.! 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Driving to the west...in my RV; Driving to the west...
Extremely catchy tune.. yes, it has ground it's way into my synapses!!! It won't go awaaaay!!😂😉😎😖

I think he wrote and sang the song himself.
So do we
As I was making my cafe' "tinto" you were giving some context , history of the destination.Had to chuckle for a moment, because I could almost hear my late Dad's voice ,as he would do the very same thing when we traveled as a family.
I rocked the whole show...
My dad and I absolutely love watching your traveling videos during quarantine it’s a great bonding experience 😂
Thank you!
Amen to that!!! No fake hype here, just pure fun!!❤️
ROBERT YOU ARE VERY GOOD AND THE VIDIOS ARE VERY GOOD THANK YOU AND YOUR COMMENT AND ACCENT TOP FROM BELGIUM
Who doesn't like the Traveling Robert uploads? And now, he has an epic video of epic length!
He jumps all over the place. He did this trip about months ago and just reposting other videos he didn't before.
Started watching thinking I'll never watch all this. But I didn't want it too end. Brilliant stuff. . . Thank you
I have been traveling the world together with my partner for over ten years now and one of the things we love the most is the freedom that travel and this lifestyle gives us.
So your video brings us back some adventure, excitement, things that we lost the last year and we definitely need.......
Thanks for sharing, keep going my friend!!!!!
I love this video so much, I’ve been planning to move to California, San Jose when Im older. This video showed me what its gonna be like moving from florida to california. I have less than 4 years until im able to go, I have a growing playlist with multiple songs to play driving all the way down there. Thank you Robert for this video, I will always cherish this.

Dear Robert, I am so very pleased to have stumbled upon your amazing piece of work. I spent time in the last three evenings after my wife went to bed and savored this fantastic trip with you. You have a special way of taking all of us along to not only enjoy the drive but to experience your personal touch and artistry as well as your wonderful musicianship! I can't wait to check out more of your entertaining videos. Thank you sir. You are a rock star!!! (And those sunsets were spectacular!)
I gotta say, if/when go raving, as We pull out I will be singing your song!
You've created an earworm with your Riding in my RV song. LOL I can't get it out of my head! I really enjoy your videos.
This was probably the *SHORTEST & MOST ENJOYABLE* 3h35m that I ever watched on YT. I was mesmerized from start to finish! Thank you Robert, to watch the USA from your POV is just *ABSOLUTELY spectacular* !!!
I agree.
My friend, you seem to capture the essence of the desert like no other can seem to. With your talent of music and your ability to capture on camera the beauty of your surroundings amazes me. You truly have a gift. I watch your videos endlessly. Please don’t stop. I’ve been where you have been and the way you express the scenery and the views are right on track! Keep on keeping it. My friend!
So glade you took the time to film Salvation Mountain in Slab City. The fact that it was not destroyed with graffiti is a testament to the dignity of mankind given by his Creator. Much respect and awe for that man’s work of his hands to glorify his God ❤️ Thank you so much Robert. This is actually my second time watching this trip. I love your attention to detail 👍🇺🇸
Happy father's day to all

I can't believe I stayed to watch till the end of this 3 1/2 hrs video. But I got hooked by the quality of your production, and your unique narrative delivery. Is that you singing too ? Thank you for introducing me to soo many places I never knew. I am going to re-watch all 3 1/2 hours again, but this time, I have my notebook beside me, and I am going to jot down the places. And btw, thank you for posting all your equipment, and the links to them.
This video rocks! The songs, the shooting/video/editing/storytelling, all of it. Wonderful work!!
I never watch long videos like this. Your story is very impressive for me. I can watch until I fall asleep. It make me dream about my road trip like your trip. Someday I will make it. ❤️
I'm taking a drive from Maryland to West Palm Florida this Spring. First time I'll be doing such a long drive!!
Thanks for taking me on your trip.
Watched the entire show in the wee hours during this coronavirus pandemic. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire trip. I did it twice from DC to LA. Thank you.
Your videos are some of the best on Utube. Informative, entertaining and very well presented. Thank you.
Thank you!
Well it’s official, “Free in my RV” is now the only song I can sing, whistle & hum to, lol. My coworkers might rip out my larynx, but that’s ok!🤣. We watch your videos in the morning on the couch with our coffee & talk about how we will do the RV thing when we retire, lol. Great videos Robert!!!. Come to Cape Cod & visit us!!!❤️
Love this video. You are inspiring me to hit the road and live life.
I love your music and you do such a great job commenting on each state, town and the landscape. Thank you❤️‼️

I awoke from a nap to your video playing because of auto play. I was saying, "Who is that"? So I "tuned in". Wow! I enjoyed this trip with you and your tour! You're so cool! Very glad to meet you and I had a great time traveling with you! Thank you for sharing. I'll have to subscribe. this was a joy! Thanks again!
Exactly the same for me!!

This exact same thing happened to me JUST NOW
This was playing while I was sleeping and waking up to go tinkle. I absolutely love this masterpiece! Well done Sir!
Realizing what motivates a person to go out and wander IS WHAT THE VIDEO conveys. This man purposely has been trying to find a hope. There are answers to the Why's What About's When's along with How's ----- A book called the Bible.
Singing Driving to the west all day.... great video!
I enjoyed your video .
I've been checking out RVs thanks to your broadcast. I've been all the us and and could fill up your map with no problems. I'm sick of sleeping on the ground or in my truck.
You've got the right idea.-------Thank you so much
🎶 driving to the west. Into the sunset🎵 that song has been stuck in my head for 3 days now!😂
Traviling is soo fun seeing new places
I have discovered your channel and sub'd a few days ago. I love travelling from my armchair mostly and I feel like I'm actually travelling when I watch your amazing videos. I have a fifth wheel on some land in Florida, so I always get itchy to get there 2-3 times a year for 1-2 months at a time. I'm from Florida, grew up in the panhandle, but I have learned so much about the state just watching your videos. Things I never knew. I'm a roadtrip singer, but you are a real singer...singing voice is top-knotch.Ok, now you are travelling across my old home areas in this video also. Thanks for sharing your talents, awesome videography!
Thank you so much!
Thank you Robert....from a cold and damp UK in January.....to a bright and sunny US desert....I'm definitely living vicariously through you right now! Loved every minute of the whole 3 hours!! Happy travels xxx
Your truly said
I Love Your Show! Thank You for Sharing All Your Beautiful 💕😘 Travels, & Experiences. They give Me Great, excited joy, considering I haven't traveled since I was like 21 & am 64. Got done watching your road trip from Tampa to California and absolutely enjoying every second of your video. I saw it was great to know about how to go in an RV that far and a great engaging experience to know how all of it worked out.
I love the trip to the west coast. Never travelled the southern route but I drove I-40 from NC to LA pulling a horse trailer. That was an adventure in itself for sure!
Thank you for the wonderful journey.
You should come up north...Vermont, New Hampshire is absolutely beautiful.
I watched all 3 hrs plus, love the commentary & subscribed.
Awesome video. Reminds me of when I was a kid on road trips with my family. This is a beautiful country. Great job Robert!
Love it. You need a travelling companion though. I enjoy that dynamic on other RV travel VLOGs. Or you could meet-up with some other travellers on your journeys
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Makes me want to take a road trip now. I've done I-10 from Phoenix to Jacksonville, but I was on a tight schedule and didn't get to stop and see much. And for those people who say your video is too long, they're wrong, I hated to see it end.
Thank you
Ok
