You did really great soldering for the first time, better than some experienced people I've seen. Don't be afraid to hold the iron on there longer, it'll only do damage if you're really excessive, just mainly watch where the iron is so you don't melt the plastics nearby, easy to do. I do think you, and Steve, should pick up some proper flux cleaner like electrolube, you can douse it in flux cleaner, scrub with the nylon brush tip, and then dry it out with compressed air. A brush is way better than a q tip too, won't leave fuzzy bits everywhere and you'll get a more thorough and quick clean!
I solder work on laptops. I've always looked at it as a fast glue. Just in soft metals. It's easier then most think, with the right tools. You did well.
It's brave to film only your second time soldering! Watching your learning process is so informative. Also you should totally get a detergent sponsor! 😂
Don't worry about how good or bad you are at soldering. Everything takes time and patience to learn and master. The fact that you even attempted it the day you learned how to solder speaks volumes. The more you solder the better you'll get!
I too feel like I need to learn how to solder myself because I could do a lot with those skills. Also I really don’t like taking controllers apart, but I have done it a few times which still freaks me out I might make a mistake. haha
Amazing job for the first time soldering! I think it looks fine and it works so all good! I agree with some of the other comments; you should definitely do a video or a series of videos of learning to solder and troubleshoot 🙂Cheers!
One thing for future cleaning videos. With using washing up liquid and water, make sure it's hot water and not cold water because washing up liquid in cold water doesn't activate hence why you have no soap bubbles and cold water doesn't kill any germs. If you use hot it will kill germs and activate the washing up liquid will give you soap bubbles within the need to put your hand to get the soap bubbles
MAN!! What the previous owner did to this controller? Tied it to a rope and run it across the asphalt like a kids cart?!? How do people do that? Anyway amazing work having patience with this one, looks like took a lot of trouble.
Thought the same. I have my Xbox one controller for several years now and except for wear and tear on the analog stick rubber and especially the crappy micro B port it is basically in like new condition.
If it remains after a good washing, perhaps you could try rubbing it with a paste made from baking soda? I would definitely recommend researching it further, as this is just off the top of my head. But that is something I might try.
Decided to try cat litter in a bag for a few days & replace the outer shell no good scrub is going to restore this one, lucky it's fully functional because it's real nasty✌@@RestorishOfficial
I find it idiotic that Microsoft makes getting to the d pad and other buttons on controllers, soldering and resoldering has to be involved. PS controllers, the d pad and buttons are much easier to get to.

You should make a series with you learning to solder and trouble shoot. I think that would be great content. Great work thanx
Noted. I might do that. Thanks for the comment

You just gotta love that rumble wiring. Also the first thing I've ever soldered.
8:50 OU SO MUCH STUF YOU GOT , amazing
Fantastic job for second soldering!
Thank you very much!

Yeah, I'm going to be learning how to solder better. It's such a useful skill
I totally get that. I was suggested to buy some soldering kits to learn and grow by so I’ll be doing that at some point.

Assembling that controller looks like the worst nightmare lol, you did a great job btw!
They’re definitely more difficult than they look

I always use hot. But thanks for the feedback. I will have to start noting that.
I want to learn how to solder like a few other people are saying, i want to add an hdmi to my n64
That would be amazing! I might have to try that once I get better
Awesome that they both still work. They look good after your work. Is that how you drive IRL? 😂
As it is, I definitely have to learn heo to solder. I have a few upcoming projects to work on, one being a Pokemon edition Gameboy Color!

Lol, yeah this one is a little rough. Glad you enjoyed it

Im curious as to how much you guys know about Retrobrighting?
We have been looking into it. I’ll be addressing it in an upcoming video.
Isn’t TronicsFix Steve? Maybe there’s a Scott behind the scenes?
Yes it is! We work together.
@@RestorishOfficial awesome! I heard you mention Scott at the start. Wasn’t sure who that is.
I love your IPA dispenser. I want one for myself. 😁
Oh yeah, that's the person that sent the Xbox One and Controller
Nice one
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Any suggestions for smoke smell on a used controller, a part from shell replacement?

cant believe you reused that nasty tape

I'm never the biggest fan of seeing traces that someone was inside an electric before I was. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's not. Flip a coin
Xbox controllers are more complicated than PlayStation controllers.
The same thing applies to their consoles as well lol.
Making an xbox controller look good? 😂😂😂
PS4 controller is better
