Probably the best solution would be to find a person who will arrange the job from the freight exchange. And as a business owner, you have to get behind the wheel. Looking at the rates in the market, you could get 130 miles, £ 600 for a route. around £ 90 costs you fuel one way. Of course, you have to remember about the depreciation of the truck and fixed costs such as payment, leasing, insurance, etc. And if you don't have to come home and you can come home after e.g. five days, you can make a really nice coin. And sadly that most of people who don't have enough knowledge for running their own truck couldn't make it through the next few month! Spoke to Amazon about AFP and they said that the trucks would be on lease with Amazon paying the upfront also because its lease hold, the truck maintenance is inclusive of your monthly payment. Surely that way your risk is mitigated...
That is only one aspect of running a transport business. You have many others that they will not tell you how much goes into it. Just think about it- why wouldn’t they just do it on their own- rather than getting others to do it. You get stuck in a contract for a year and if you have no experience or knowledge you might regret getting into it. And those that have experience and knowledge would not touch this program. @AgnesMann yes, but in your video you stated that you could be stuck with 10 trucks, you can't, if it doesn't work out you give them back to Amazon and presumably the next victim gets them. They told me this very clearly in the webinar. To clarify, I looked at it (briefly) and moved on, I'm 4th generation in haulage. But I do think you need to be accurate.
Great video by the way guys, transport is not very easy, large corporation companies like Amazon will only workout for them little companies will just get robbed. Supermarkets possible best around for work or some of the smaller parcel companies could be good, container is if good rates, most importantly need good driver's because if have them and you pay well a good driver in return will look after you and your business.
Very true! Only issue we have at the moment is actually getting the jobs. CX pays too little, amazon relay even worse. Privately job is not guaranteed so we have too many quiet days lately. @@AgnesMann i already subscribed and looking forward to gain some knowledge about this, you have Instagram account ? Where we can ask questions about this business Let me know about that please
Just look at amazon employees to get know they are a high pressure operation. Its like an airline you'll need to run 24/7 with multiple drivers on shift to keep a single vehicle running non stop at minimum cost and wage.
I am a former DSP. You were absolutely right. There were many hidden costs with the fleet and hiring costs which Amazon did not disclosed. Amazon will exercise their rights to give or take business from you.
The 48.5k is there for the O licence requirement of 10 trucks so should not be involved in any cost of running the business, it just has to sit there in the bank as a requirement for the Traffic Commissioner. I am in the process of applying for the AFP program and am now having second thoughts. I am at the interview stage which is next week. It's concerning that you mention the ratings are affected for things out of your control like traffic and accidents. The pressure is on us as company owners to manage the drivers which they insist is there main concern, driver sickness and unreliability will cause major issues, as who goes out when something comes up last minute, I can drive myself to cover one driver but anymore than that and they'll be trucks just sitting there, I also heard you get fined for missed runs. Some of these concerns would be the same for running any company, though the profit against the time and effort to run this AFP seems too less, they've dangled a carrot by stating you can earn upto £200k which would be amazing, realistically it seems that would only be achieved if all the drivers turned up each day and on time to every pickup and drop off. Plus side is Amazon offer a lot of support which as a new comer to this industry maybe is a bonus. A lot to think about and ponder.....
Thank you for your comment and I do sincerely hope it works out for you (in the end they do claim to have people with successful stories so maybe yours will be one of them too) Please keep us posted on how are you getting one and what you have decided to do. Wishing you all the best
@@Rammores Hi mate I had an interview and I asked alot of questions about what costs are involved if a person decided to leave, the lady wasn’t being very clear but mentioned you would lose the setup costs which can vary estimated £26k. The uncertainty and mention of a rating system which affects how much you get paid is off putting for me. Due to these reasons I decided not to pursue it.
@@AgnesMann My friend did not talk to me in all transparency, but he gave me a glimpse of the prices The truck makes a profit of 25,000 euros per month before deducting taxes, driver rent and gas, and I am now thinking of making a transport manager license
Please clarify someting for me, you havent tried this program, you just listen to Webinars and you came to the conclusion thats not worth it? Amazon says that they pay for drivers, lorries, insurance, plus on top they look like they dont what you to fail. All you have to do....is to find drivers, they also pay maximum for the insurance , maximum for the drivers, so your first year should go "easy", they assure you wont fail,im not talking the 10 trucks, just 5. Could you clarify my confusion?Im seeing this project just now, and im just trying to see it as bad or good. Many thanks
Yes, I did not try it my self, but running this business we know first hand hoe it is to run it. And they make it all look and sound so goo (too good to be true) But I would not like to discourage you and would love to hear your experience if you do go ahead. I hope you are going to find a success with Amazon. Keep in touch
@@AgnesMann This program is very similar with DSP 2.0, where amazon doesnt supply maintance on the van, but they do with freight, Freight is the first hand in managing loads where the dsp program helps them get to customers, flex is getting the little dayli excess that dsp cant manage,,,,therefore the freight has the advantage? Im not sure why this discouragement ? am i not seing something? Or "to good to be true "?
well, look at the turnover vs profit figures that AFP states. If you think you want to have responsibility of running a business and end up with 60k a year profit and that's satisfy you, go ahead. We did not think this is a satisfactory figure (well less to what we make independently with smaller turnover, so clearly their costs are much higher as everything is outsourced from Amazon...) you need to make a decision for yourself, but as for us we would not step into this arrangement.
I had trucking company alot of experience but Amazon chose AFP partners who had no exp no knowledge but in their email they tell you this competitive area and they chose not go with my candidacy etc. They want immature no exp people. And they are so corrupt. My friend was well educated in finance and business they rejected him as well .
I don't understand why people joining AFP. Its like shooting in your own feet. AFP is doing massive damage to the transport industry and people not seeing this
I was in the webinar and I did ask some question based on my calculations if you can earn £100 per truck after all the expenses will be great but if you dont than is not worth the hadeck and they said is everything is included in the price when you hire for them the trucks as breakdown cost and mentannce but the best advice is to get is when you accepted they give access to the business owner who is in the program and ask question from their experience the good and the bads points but you don't a access until you are in the position of what are they asking thas the think but I will to hear in in the comment section other experience who is working with them as AFP program.

They can write off vehicles ect against tax when the economy crash’s you loose the lorries and your 48k they buy them for Massive discount as there will be plenty unemployment drivers hire them for minimum wage . There might be jobs available now, but not available later, so no point basing your opinion on that. The market changes daily and therefore it is hard to know what will happen. I am sure you will be able to find work once you're ready. Hope this helps and that you for watching
Ummm... that's not at all how the AFP program works. Amazon pays for every schedule, even if they cancel the load. They lease the trucks They pay performance bonus. They pay for fuel. Not sure what yall are talking about
Hi Mr Greg Gidney.I have know few people who went with Amazon AFP and not so happy as they are stuck. Too much headache for little money. We are giving people our opinion. I don’t think AFP is worth the hassle. I do also agree on your points, drop in performance affects your contract and anyone looking to take 10 trucks with Amazon and working 7days managing 10 to 15 drivers is better of getting work through agencies and work as driver. Your points and taken on board and we will look in AFP again and do another updated video. Thank you 🙏
I really appreciate the honest opinion on the blind risk and the fact that amazon doesn't want to take any risk associated with ruining a truck company. Any ways amazon does provide maintenance cost ,fuel and toll for AFPs. But regarding the money deposit not sure what they do with it incase you decide to leave the program if it didn't work for you
Some customers are more price sensitive than others but everyone here is to make money so you need to be careful how much you charge per job whatever that is that you’re transporting Hope that answers your questions but let me know as I’m not sure I understand your question 100%
I’m curious to see from people in the US who came into this knowing some giving about business and HR but not transport directly. They seem sincere I just don’t think a lot of what they’re saying lines up with US market
With Amazon, they pick their favourites!! So if your face doesn’t fit, you won’t make money. Over Christmas I had some very good runs that were earning me four digits per run. Until I expressed my beliefs (as a Christian….signed an email have a blessed day ..) AND/OR they found I was African, my runs got taken away. At first they would cancel when I was halfway up the M1 to pick up the load (the cancellation fee obviously never covered the fuel I had used up to that point )! At the moment there’s no money to be made at Amazon and the fact that they are a prejudiced bunch!
@@AgnesMann hi first of all, I wanted to appreciate you guys for doing the video and speaking the truth. I’m based in the south and I get my jobs from local customers who I have known from the days as a multi drop driver. It wasn’t easy in January and February but because Amazon was really good in November and December, I survived! I hope that you are ok now. Thanks
Would not touch Amazon there rates are shocking work for Dutch firms fantastic payers plenty of work and I run mine day and night double bubble running average £2.30 per mile
That’s good that you have regular consistent work. £2,30 mile isn’t great rate though to be honest. But if it works for you and you manage to make money with it that’s all it matters
@@AgnesMann isn’t a great rate, majority of companies are paying 1.40-1.70 on an average week for the mileage and Amazon probably less I wouldn’t even send my wagon out for less than 500 a day
@@reecew2503 ok I was just comparing this to what we charge per mile. But it’s all about what works for you. As long as you are making money that important Right. Thank you for your comment
But if you think of it from the business perspective it’s not a lot of money for 24/7 responsibility. You worry about everything from the minute you wake up to the minute before you wake up. It’s not just 9-5 job where after clocking out you relax. When truck breakdown- you must arrange it to be fixed and call the customer to tell them and either cancel the job (loss of money, and reputation) or arrange subcontractors to do it (if they are available). Yes the money is better but many people fail because they can’t cope with the pressure. Hope that helps you see the difference. Thanks 🙏🏻
Too Honest or naïve creating a great enemy Good info, but watch your back guys. My only question is Are the £60,000-£200.000 per truck per year or All the 10 trucks per year?
I don’t think the robot will entirely replace humans but everyone is looking into automations and how we can work smarter rather than harder. Even with self driving vehicles the lorries will never be left unattended- gov will never allow it
@@AgnesMann no I've experienced it. The robots control the human on a time management system. Its not very nice. You end up with 4 managers spending an hour asking where you lost a minute. 5 man hours to audit 1 minute!
Not sure what your question actually asks... When you sign up to AFP, you are responsible as a business owner to hire your own drivers... You can drive yourself too, but not for Amazon, but for your own company which contracts out to Amazon... I hope this clears it but let me know if still not sure...
It should be illegal for Amazon to hire AFP where Amazon provide trucks and trailers and loads because that's more like employee not contractors and these drivers should be of Amazon and join union but Amazon playing games keeping drivers worker of contractors and not Amazon
Amazon has done massive damage to Transport industry. Now amazon is moving goods for other business too at very low rates. Transport Industry will be in massive trouble in years to come
Amazon is destroying small and big businesses. European government should intervene. UK AMAZON are paying around £1.50 to £2 per mile of class one. it's a joke
I like these two. I’ve had my licence for C1 for 12 years. Of which 5 years not driving as was in army. Literally had to teach myself how to drive 😂 when I left. Anyway these two are very professional, informative and likeable people. They also have a couple of very reliable units. VOLVO FH16. They are by far some of if not the most reliable trucks on the road. Great discounts on 3-5 year old ones too. Im thinking of becoming an owner operator. Running alongside my clothing business. So im learning the ropes and the dos and donts. Anyone reading this. Im not rich, I have a family 3 kids and a wife. Own a home and have cars that are decent. Meaning I have a lot of outgoings. But I still make my dreams come true. You can do the same. Never ever ever let anyone say you can’t do something. Like my dad did. Now look. Keep working hard and anything is possible I promise you.
Hopefully the market will improve. DO you know anyone doing AFP? If now please share the video around so hopefully Amazon or people that work for them will come forward to tell us more... Thank you

Guys a very honest review and I respect that well done!
thank you so much. that's great
Just look at amazon employees to get know they are a high pressure operation. Its like an airline you'll need to run 24/7 with multiple drivers on shift to keep a single vehicle running non stop at minimum cost and wage.
Yes that’s correct. Are you an owner operator ?
I am a former DSP. You were absolutely right. There were many hidden costs with the fleet and hiring costs which Amazon did not disclosed. Amazon will exercise their rights to give or take business from you.
Wow that’s really bad. Thank you for sharing. I hope you didn’t loose out massively on the Amazon deal. What did you get into after ?
Thanks but not surprised tbh I'm thinking of going it alone and information like this is gold
Go for it!
Love your content ❤️
Thank you. First time watching? Let me know if there are any topics you’d like me to cover
this is great info. Guys do you have any video on container shipping?
Thank you! Not yet, we can however put something together so stay tuned for this coming up soon.
Thank you for your comment and I do sincerely hope it works out for you (in the end they do claim to have people with successful stories so maybe yours will be one of them too)
Please keep us posted on how are you getting one and what you have decided to do.
Wishing you all the best
How you are getting on with AFP mate? May I have a chat with you outside TH-cam if you don't mind please?
@@Rammores Hi mate I had an interview and I asked alot of questions about what costs are involved if a person decided to leave, the lady wasn’t being very clear but mentioned you would lose the setup costs which can vary estimated £26k.
The uncertainty and mention of a rating system which affects how much you get paid is off putting for me.
Due to these reasons I decided not to pursue it.
Hello are an amazone fright partner right now .we want to become an amaone fright partner and i want to ask you somthing
Go ahead
I am a truck driver who has been working with Amazon for two years in Germany and my friend owns 13 trucks that work for Amazon
ok. does he work in AFP program? How is his experience. Is he making some profits after all?
@@AgnesMann
My friend did not talk to me in all transparency, but he gave me a glimpse of the prices The truck makes a profit of 25,000 euros per month before deducting taxes, driver rent and gas, and I am now thinking of making a transport manager license
@@obadasamra3411 ok if you think this is the thing you want to do go for it but I think TM has a lot of responsibility and the reward is not good
Please clarify someting for me, you havent tried this program, you just listen to Webinars and you came to the conclusion thats not worth it? Amazon says that they pay for drivers, lorries, insurance, plus on top they look like they dont what you to fail. All you have to do....is to find drivers, they also pay maximum for the insurance , maximum for the drivers, so your first year should go "easy", they assure you wont fail,im not talking the 10 trucks, just 5.
Could you clarify my confusion?Im seeing this project just now, and im just trying to see it as bad or good.
Many thanks
Yes, I did not try it my self, but running this business we know first hand hoe it is to run it. And they make it all look and sound so goo (too good to be true)
But I would not like to discourage you and would love to hear your experience if you do go ahead.
Nice job guys 💪
Thanks. Are you too in business
Yes we want to hear from the people who have first hand experience to tell us how it really is... Share around the video so perhaps people that are in it will come forward.

Amazon play book . You buy the trucks when there expensive they have 48k down payment. They can write off vehicles ect against tax when the economy crash’s you loose the lorries and your 48k they buy them for Massive discount as there will be plenty unemployment drivers hire them for minimum wage . Couldn’t imagine owning lorries in this environment not one incentive to go solo . Drive them if loose your job or on 3 days a week claim rest off dole . And this recession is going to be rough .
Recession is indeed coming and it will be bad! Let's hope we all survive! Thanks for commenting
hello Nice, i understood better, but you did not dwell on operators who do not have trucks? I want to apply with amazon providing the trucks. I didn't really understand amazon relay
They will provide you with the trucks on lease basis. Ie you lease from them. But you must apply for o licence for the authorisation of min 5 trucks. Hope that makes Sense
Really useful information! Do you know if there is an age limit for tucks on Amazon Relay as well?
No such thing was mentioned so you’d need to enquire with them

Hi guys, I'm going to set up my own company at some point this but not sure yet what type of vehicle I wanna start with. Would you be able to have a look for me if there is any work for 18t or 26t rigid in North wales on courier exchange platform? Thanks
There might be jobs available now, but not available later, so no point basing your opinion on that. The market changes daily and therefore it is hard to know what will happen. I am sure you will be able to find work once you're ready. Hope this helps and that you for watching
Sebastian, I have a 26t rigid and there are always loads available on the Haulage Exchange for rigids (don't know about Amazon though ?)
It depends on the area and the type of work you are taking. Currently there is more work for rigid over the 44t. Which area are you operating in
I wonder if this video and the information apply to US.
It applies to the UK only. Thank you
It’s not Amazon that insists you employ drivers on A PAYE basis, it’s HMRC that say this.
Yes
Ummm... that's not at all how the AFP program works.
Amazon pays for every schedule, even if they cancel the load.
They lease the trucks
They pay performance bonus.
They pay for fuel.
Not sure what yall are talking about
Are you with AFP currently?
But regarding the money deposit not sure what they do with it incase you decide to leave the program if it didn't work for you
Hi. In the lorry business does the price per job matter on what your transporting? Ie. Tanker or container? Cheers
This video was only based on the UK market so can’t really say much about US
With Amazon, they pick their favourites!!
We seem to be seeing the same patterns here and many people say the same thing. Where do you get your jobs from now if you don't mind me asking?
@@AgnesMann hi first of all, I wanted to appreciate you guys for doing the video and speaking the truth.
I’m based in the south and I get my jobs from local customers who I have known from the days as a multi drop driver.
It wasn’t easy in January and February but because Amazon was really good in November and December, I survived!
I hope that you are ok now.
Thanks

Where can I get truck for rent ?

Yes Rider for starters just Google it. We don’t rent trucks so can’t comment which is best

45K a year 😂 I’ve been driving 12 year class 1 and never got near that salary
But if you think of it from the business perspective it’s not a lot of money for 24/7 responsibility. You worry about everything from the minute you wake up to the minute before you wake up. It’s not just 9-5 job where after clocking out you relax. When truck breakdown- you must arrange it to be fixed and call the customer to tell them and either cancel the job (loss of money, and reputation) or arrange subcontractors to do it (if they are available). Yes the money is better but many people fail because they can’t cope with the pressure. Hope that helps you see the difference. Thanks 🙏🏻

Even amazon is cutting back on employees. Robots everywhere. They'll be looking for self driving vehicles already.
5 man hours to audit 1 minute!
are you still at this business
No, We have taken a break and decided to travel for two years.
What are your views on the tipper industry delivering tarmac?
It’s good to get into. If you have good contacts you can get a contract and permanent jobs which is always a plus.
Do you have to drive for Amazon through A company that partners with them or do they hire drivers straight through Amazon.
Not sure what your question actually asks...
When you sign up to AFP, you are responsible as a business owner to hire your own drivers... You can drive yourself too, but not for Amazon, but for your own company which contracts out to Amazon... I hope this clears it but let me know if still not sure...
I have a India drivering licence
good. In the UK you need UK driving licence/ European would do too
It should be illegal for Amazon to hire AFP where Amazon provide trucks and trailers and loads because that's more like employee not contractors and these drivers should be of Amazon and join union but Amazon playing games keeping drivers worker of contractors and not Amazon
Amazon has done massive damage to Transport industry. Now amazon is moving goods for other business too at very low rates. Transport Industry will be in massive trouble in years to come
