    Its crazy how these specs would have been $700 plus 5 years ago and today less than $200.....imagine when oled comes standard for $200.

      Hell, look at AMD's Ryzen 5 processors. Some, like the 5600G, come with Vega 7 graphics built in with graphics on par with an Nvidia GT 1030 2GB. The mother boards that socket them are as low as $60 brand new, and you can install a better graphics card whenever you want to upgrade later. Decent gaming PCs, including these tablets, cost peanuts these days.

      Speaking of OLED being standard. It pisses me off that the Sony ps vita has a OLED screen and it realsed forever ago but the OG switch didn't come with and OLED screen as it should have further more Nintendo has already stated the next console will NOT have an OLED screen. Even some of those bs retro handhelds have OLED screens there is no reason Nintendo can't make it the standard on the next console.

    • @brym4467
      @brym4467 ปีที่แล้ว

      the qc on OLED is pretty hit and miss for example my OLED vita has some extra black inky spots while my LCD psp 2000 has a perfect TFT or whatever it uses still. my LG oled tv has uneven back lighting also oh and my note 9 got horrible screen burn in from my keyboard and navigation bar...so the premium cost of the OLED and quality control might not be worth the hassle for Nintendo, you gota remember Nintendo never pushes the graphics so the OLED would be pretty under utilized running mid range graphics. kinda lame how the Nintendo switch has 2017 specs yet they still want to charge $250 just because it has that OLED screen so you can play 720 games at 30fps LOL.... @@73delgado

    This sort of content is why I subscribed to your channel ages ago. I'm happy that you're still doing the occasional Walmart/Amazon tablet review. I enjoyed this video a lot because it's about something I can reasonably attain and is easily justifiable to myself. FWIW; I miss your "lets see what this random $99 Straight Talk prepaid phone can emulate" type videos that used to be fairly common on this channel. I understand that this channel's focus has shifted harder in the direction of Steam Deck, Asus ROG, or equivalents. I know they get huge numbers of views, which likely means they're popular with the majority of your audience, so I'll never complain about your extensive coverage of them; but, they do nothing for me. The point of this comment is to thank you for throwing miserly tech enthusiasts like myself a bone. This was great, for me, content and I appreciate it.

      I'm sort of similar. I feel like the higher end stuff should cost what these lower end devices do, but inflation has outpaced reality and somehow these companies stay solvent. I suppose it may be that their customers are hugely in debt, and if so they're killing the world by doing that to themselves and the rest of us. I'm not particularly old, yet I still remember a time when a 12oz soda cost you a quarter and I could get a decent burger for a buck.

    Based on xda forums, I'm pretty sure you can easily unlock the bootloader of this tablet in android developer mode. That's the first necessary step in rooting this device and porting generic custom roms to it, thus extending its life with security updates. The existing android 13 looks generic enough that I bet magisk could do the rooting, provided you could get boot.img from a copy of the matching factory rom (or someone ports a twrp recovery to this hardware). Unfortunately, the Chinese manufacturers and Walmart are unlikely to provide a download site for the factory roms.

    • @CapTVchilenaShootingStarMax
      @CapTVchilenaShootingStarMax ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which is why mosat of these are crap. Having access to the factory ROM is paramount for self-servicing a device. Sure, you could try messing around without that, but if you screw something up, you would have no way to restore the device to its original form to start from zero. And even then… we have the awful MediaTek flashing tools.

    I'm not a gamer, so I don't really care about all the "speed" notes. Actually had a couple miscues & freezes with the Onn, but a factory reset turned out better than I thought.
    Had a Onn unit prior to this one & has been real good all along. Thanks for confirming my thoughts. And one other note, the "11"' is only 10 1/8" side to side.

    If you can trust the specs on the Walmart website there several differences between the 11" and 10.4" tablets for 2023.
    11" vs 10.4" screen size
    128GB vs 64GB storage
    2.2GHz vs 2GHz processor
    4GB vs 3GB RAM
    ??? vs GPS enabled???
    8mp vs 4mp rear camera
    I have had the 11" model for about 2 or 3 months and am very impressed with it. Reminds me of a Nexus/Pixel device with no bloat. I also have a 12.9" iPad Pro and a Samsung 8" tablet but needed a better Android tablet to run a specific HAM radio app. I thought the 11" would be bigger than it actually is. Great tablet!

    Widevine support will be a deal breaker for many of us, but let's be real. Those of us that take issue with WV level are most definitely not the intended targets here.

      the widevine is annoying but i thought it applied to YT too. Since ETA showed it doesnt apply to YT, it's less an issue to me, though still no ideal.
      kinda a tradeoff slightly more power and wv lv 1 on fire max 11, or no wv lv1 but native android on this. of course normally the fm11 is 229, but it was on sale over prime day for 150 and i'm sure will be again.
      but yeah i'm surprised how many reviewers dont mention widevine at all in their reviews of this. including lontv. pretty big oversight imo.

      Personally, as far as the convenience factor of that is, I'd rather just rip my own DVD's and tell the streaming companies to get fucked. But who would be the intended target? I'm looking for a tablet for my mom. She barely knows how to operate it. Only gonna use it for the video apps we set for her and nothing else. No internet browsing, no games. So buying a pricier one is stuipd. And the to cheap one are a mess. The one she has lag and freeze it's 10 years old. And the only app it has are 3 video + YT. Nothing else running, debloated with every app she won't use disabled. And still YT and Tubi struggle. So I figured a 130-150 would be "good enough" for her. But the Widevine is stupid. L3 should at least provide 720p. That's not that high of a resolution.

    F zero gx is a bastard of a game to run' even on snapdragon gen 1 it will drop frames. Admittedly I rarely bother tinkering around in settings for the best optimisation. Would be interesting to see whether this wallmart tab handles some vita or switch as those emulators (early days as they still are) are reputedly pretty well optimised for lower end android devices. Strange that a large corporate entity like Walmart would not have widevine L1 as standard and for many consumers that won't even know what widevine is, this could result in many returns once they try to play their Netflix and other content. They need to put a sticker on the box to make it clear. The real deal breaker for me would be the lack of video over USB-C. I am amazed that this cannot be implemented without much additional cost at all on any lower cost device. Odd that they would have 2 devices that are essentially the same size 10.4 vs 11 is nothing at all. Overall I think that is just fails to hit the right mark for the more expensive one. 3Gb RAM will likely be just fine for many day to day uses.

      No video over usb-c is what killed my enthusiasm for pixel phones. They're awesome in most other ways, especially the clean distro and exclusive/early features. IIRC there is an extra cost associated with licensing for it, which is why Google went with display port. Also, their position is a bit more that they'd rather you use chromecast™ to your Android™ TV.

    Love this tablet however, I've had to return 3 of them. I have a 400GB SD loaded with Roms and when I play RetroArch for a while, it corrupts the device and it has to be factory reset. I am using stock apps from the Playstore and no matter what, playing retro games corrupts the device. Its happened 3 times on 3 separate tablets. I am so lost as to why.

      Same. After the third time I finally elected to buy the Redmi Pad, partially due to eta prime's review he did on it roughly 8 months back. Better performance, screen, charging, feel, etc. Don't do heavy emulation but GC, PS2, PSP, NDS, and the more obvious ones all run well. I do miss the more stock android experience of the Onn 11 Pro though. Price wise you're looking at $200 for the Redmi.

      My kids on the other hand have the HD10 from 2021. They're pretty happy with them. I bought them good cases and screen protectors. I also installed the Google Play store on them. They play Roblox on them, but that's probably the most demanding game they play. One of my boys plays minecraft.
