- I thought the Star Wars The Black Series Republic Commando "Boss" figure was a little too clean looking so I added a black wash to bring out all the detail.

I know I love Delta squad so much, the novels are fantastic and the game is great too, lot track of how many times I’ve played it
Thanks for the inspiration, that paint makes the details on the torso and pads so much better.
Normally I'd insist on going for a gray for a more subtle look, but with how grimy the Commandos were in the game this looks great. Very well done.

LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER DANGGGGGG! The figure is made in a way it looks like the armour was designed like that but in the game it was actually a custom paint job so it was not the best painting. This makes it so much more accurate

Do you know if the paint comes off easily because I would like it to stick on even if it gets a little scratched
I haven't had too much trouble with the paint coming off after it's dried for a while. Some people recommend a gloss finish afterwards but I haven't done anything like that myself.

I’ve seen so much hate for this sculpt, and while it’s not perfect, an actual good paint job can do so much to bring out the details. You see it the most in the all white commando. That figure out of the box is not great, but even just a simple wash makes a ton of little scuffs on the armor come out, and let’s you actually see that there is way more detail on the sculpt than you first realize. Obviously it would be nice if they looked amazing without having to change anything, but I’ll take a decent sculpt that’s easy to paint over a god awful sculpt that no amount of paint will fix.

This was made with basic acrylic black paint from Walmart watered down a bunch.

What material was that you coated the figure in and how did you seal it?
Wish they got the body perportions right

Just wondering, how easily can it be washed off, does it permanently stain the figure?
That's a great question. I've never tried removing it myself but possibly hot water would take it off? More experienced painters can correct me on that.

Fairly watered down. You don't want it to be very thick on the figure before you wipe it off
Hey I plan to do this when I get my Boss in this week. How much paint to water ratio did you use to get it to look this way? it looks perfect is exactly how I want it to look! also are you gonna black wash fixer and Sev?
Thanks! It looks like it was roughly 3 parts paint to 5 parts water. I wasn't measuring or anything though so just keep adding water until it seems thin enough. I also plan on adding one to Sev in the very near future! Same with Fixer and Scorch when they arrive.

That's it! I know some people do sealing and stuff, but I have never really messed with that, myself.

I haven't done that myself, but I've gotten that suggestion before.
What do I need to buy to make blackwash?
You just need acrylic black paint and water. Otherwise you can pick up a premade wash like Nuln Oil that people use for Warhammer miniatures.
