    I have small kids and it's amazing how many of the homesteaders with the huge followings out there don't remember the time crunch of having small children underfoot and how puttsy and time intensive their recipes are. I searched WAY too hard for your super easy, super fast no nonsense recipe! Thank you thank you thank you...but boo to youtube algorithm that makes it that I only see the creators with 300k followers. I am subscribing so I don't lose your recipes!

    I had to tweek the process. BECAUSE I had crab apples. I cut the stems and bottom off. Then put them in the instapot- thanks for that tip. When cooked i put them through my old fashioned sieve. Then put it back in the pot added the rest of the ingredients and brought it to a simmer. And presto... I made apple butter. 😋

      @@HeartFilledHomemaking It was so rich and creamy, I did let it sautee' for about 15 minutes to make sure and get it really thick. There were some hints of peel in it, but it really didn't bother me. The flavor was so rich and deep, it taste just like Christmas! I will definitely be making more. Originally, I was going to make it in the Crock pot, then i realized "hey, i have 2 IP's in the garage" so I decided to save time and make an extra big batch. Gave some to my neighbor, sand she said it tasted just like what her mom used to make in the 1940's. That warmed my heart.

    You have a kitchenaid mixer, try it using the food mill. Cook the apples, core, peels and all then run the cooked apples through the food mill. You will then have applesauce to start the slow cook with and you won’t need the immersion blender (spelled with an I not an E, emersion is the process of leaving…you emerge from the smoke etc, immersion is going into). I have been making apple butter for almost 50 years. Have done it in copper pots and black iron kettles and now do it a commercial cannery. Never tried with vanilla in…may try that.

    I would just like to know how you style your hair? I love your hair! I have natural curly hair, but cannot get it to do this without a curling iron! I hope your apple butter turns out fantastic!!

    • @HeartFilledHomemaking
      @HeartFilledHomemaking  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. I will occasionally use a curling iron if I have straight pieces, but I try to avoid heat because it's the heat that ruins the curl pattern. So it's best to just tough it out and condition it well until the curls return.

    • @HeartFilledHomemaking
      @HeartFilledHomemaking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I have been trying to grow it out, and you know curly hair gets bigger before it gets longer so I gave up and was going to cut it short again like in this video. Well I straightened it to cut it and my daughter convinced me to keep it long and straight for awhile. So I'm trying that right now. I know it's destroying my curl pattern but sometimes change is good, for a little while.

    Great simple and quick recipe. Im just doing up a second batch as the first batch based on your video came out great - The only thing that I can not seem to get is the thickness, this batch I doubled the sauté time and it is still a little too thin for my liking, any ideas ? Perhaps too many apples?

    • @HeartFilledHomemaking

      No it should still be as sweet. The brown sugar just adds a slightly richer flavor because it has molasses in it. Maybe just add a pinch more of the spices.

    When you water bath can, how long will an unopened jar last?

    • @HeartFilledHomemaking
      @HeartFilledHomemaking  ปีที่แล้ว

      The food will be safe as long as it is canned and stored properly and the jar remains sealed. However, the quality of the food deteriorates the longer it is in storage, beyond a couple of years.

    Have you ever tried using apple cider in place of water? What about salt?
    I live near Lancaster PA, and we have a lot of local farms that make apple butter, including Amish farms, and they all seem to have similar ingredients.
    Apples, cider, cane sugar(or a mix of white and brown), salt, spices(which may also include vanilla).
    That's it. They don't use preservatives, and it still lasts a long time. 3 or so years on the shelf, and a month or so after opening.
