My daughter asked if you could make a lasagna from dollar tree ingredients. I'd love too see that too. I'd also love too see copy cat recipes from popular restaurants using dollar tree.

Rebecca has made a lasagna with dollar tree ingredients by layering the frozen ravioli with sauce and cheese I tried it and it works ( I would add some vegetables or meat to it. Sausage or hamburger or even canned chicken!

Something I grew up with was taking left over pancakes and we would tear them up into bite size pieces in our bowls and fix pancakes and milk. We also would take and fix crepes and cut them in strips, put in a bowl and pour broth over the strips and have pancake soup. Any kind of bread and milk was a winner for us. My Daddy liked corn bread and buttermilk. I am 63 now. My Mama was born in 1924 and my Daddy was born in 1922. I still fix the foods I grew up with. Folks call that food Depression Era food nowadays. We just call it good eatin!

Or do a pantry and freezer cleanout challenges, like the show Chopped. It might be more fun to have the non-cook pick, or to grab blind from a shelf with all veggies or all proteins etc, or even to have a child grab one of each protein, carb, veggie, and wildcard? We play that game each season to clear things out and try new recipes or combos. Some of our favorites have been BBQ pork topped sweet potatoes, sweet potato falafel, pasticcio, moussaka, chicken thighs over rice with a honey ginger sauce, steak and cheese filled egg rolls, cheeseburger egg rolls.

I would see it as a clever April Fool video while still providing helpful ideas on what to get beyond the food section at Dollar Tree.

Great video! I found it funny when dalgona became such a trend since I knew pretty much the same thing as greek frappé for a couple of decades. The difference is frappé tends to use cold water instead of hot and I definitely make it with less coffee. You can also just pour cold water into the foam instead of milk (or mostly water with a splash of milk). I feel like it's more refreshing that way. Really quick to make (like the second method you did straight in the glass, I just use simple milk frother). Nice to drink during hot summer days.

If you can't find a squeeze bottle, you can cut the corner off a zipper bag.

    • @Olive_O_Sudden
      @Olive_O_Sudden 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

You can, but the non-conical shape of zipper bags and the typical thinness of the plastic will not give you anywhere near the same control as a piping bag. The better alternative is to keep some parchment paper on hand and learn how to make piping cones, which are easily fashioned out of triangles of parchment paper, and take just a bit of practice to get the hang of.😃

With the sushi dish, it is still a low cost meal by doing exactly what you did. Getting the majority of the ingredients at dollor tree so that you can splurge a little on the seaweed paper at the grocery store. Imagine how much more expensive this dish would be if you were to get ALL of the ingredients at a grocery! It's all about knowing where and where not to compromise.

The Dollar Tree squeeze bottles are remarkably thin, which makes them super-easy on hands. (I have issues with my hands, and I use these bottles for a conditioner that I love but that comes in the hardest plastic bottle ever and even people with normal strength complain about how impossible it is to dispense the stuff.) Bbut you're absolutely right about the piping bags being even easier. They also give you loads more control than using a squeeze bottle, because with a properly filled piping bag, unlike with a bottle, there's no air either pushing the contents out or sucking it back in. (Air pockets in a piping bag full of frosting or batter can cause 'blow-outs' or 'spitting', which is why bakers and decorators always 'burp' the piping bag first, squeezing out some product into a bowl, before piping onto a baking pan or cake or cookie, in order to remove any hidden pockets of air.)♥

Considering the $5 salmon fillets give you 3 in total, perhaps you can divide it into 3 separate meals... so $1.66 compared to $1.25 for the pouch isn't a bad cost difference! I make salmon bowls all the time and one tip I have is to make the sauce on the side and drizzle it over the top. I do mayo, soy sauce, maple syrup or honey, and sriracha. I find that it’s the best balance of flavors. For the salmon I also do some seasonings- paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne. It’s incredible and takes no time to make at all. I also like to cube the salmon before cooking to make it even faster and it makes it less mushy than when you plate it up and shred it. Cucumbers are also a great addition bc of the crunch since it’s a pretty soft meal without it, but either way it’s so good and my husband and I always look forward to it

Recently found your chanel and have been enjoying all the good videos and ideas. I have a quick video request in a pantry filling video from Dollar Tree. Things like oils, spices, cream of mushroom or chicken soup, flour, sugar, and a few freezer items. Things you buy that last a while and can be used as a base or added to meals with other items from Dollar Tree. Keep up the great work.

I make the “sushi bowl” with canned tuna and it’s delicious. It’s like a spicy tuna roll bowl. I don’t personally think it needs to be salmon.
Edit: (to clarify) for the microwave version. Also great job on the video, it was very enjoyable!

The Pancake Cereal is a 9/10 for me. It's addicting ❤ but texture-wise... you have to eat it like really fast because it turns soggy really quickly.

A couple of years ago I tried the coffee foam and it never did whip up. Maybe I'll try it again. I like your idea of whipping it in the canning jar. The pancake cereal would be fun for toddlers and anyone. If someone really liked it a lot, they could make a big batch, then package in single servings and freeze. Thanks for sharing, wonderufully thought out video as always ! 🥰🌱🍀💐🌷🌹🌞🌛💗✝

I might have to give the pancake syrup another try. We recently threw ours out. Both my son and I thought it tasted "off"... not tasted bad, but "off." So maybe we did have a bad or spoiled batch.

maybe an easier way to make the pancake syrup is to just make full sized pancakes, then chop them up. sure, it's not as pretty, but it could be easier to repeat

I've gotten seaweed snacks at the city Dollar trees twice now a couple of weeks ago. So it may just be out in your region. I buy snacky foods to keep in my van for my daughter since I drive her to and from college and a lot of time they are hungry or want to supplement their lunch.

The final dish is literally 'scattered sushi' but without what turns rice into sushi: rice wine vinegar (either seasoned or plain plus a bit of sugar). Seaweed is an absolute must in my opinion, and especially delicious if you use seasoned nori snacks like you did in the video, but vinegared rice is what gives sushi its most distinct and authentic flavour.♥

Love those mini pancakes! I can think of so many uses for them! Going to use them as an alternative to lady fingers to try and make a dollar tree 'trifle" dessert. No seaweed at Dollar Tree? You can get a similar flavor profile by heading to their supplements section and grabbing some spirulina powder. Add some to a little water and you have an instant seaweedy-tasting paste!

Don't know if its just where I've lived but everywhere I've gone publix does $5 sushi rolls on a certain day every week, usually wednesday. A lot of other grocery stores that are similar in price will do the same, I think to compete. Sometimes restaurants will do that as well! I'm sure the salmon bowl is pretty good, but fresh might really be cheaper depending on where you live.
