A suggestion for the ham would be stuffed ham rolls, using boxed stuffing and maybe a glaze using jarred jam. 😊
That’s a good one! I wish they still sold deli Turkey. I hope they do again soon
@@DollarTreeDinnersmaybe good for a second episode. also a good desert would be a nobake cheese cake if you can find the box in DT.😊
Ohh good idea she made glaze from pineapple juice before could use pineapple for upside down pineapple cake....😊
Oh wow that sounds fantastic! Would you stuff the rolls with the stuffing and chopped ham and then glaze the rolls?
Great Idea! but also she should have used some power macaroni on the top potatoes would have made taste better
Growing up in a traditional Italian home I will say if you heat the balsamic, it will thicken and become a wonderful syrup to put on the bread. I still do that now and it is wonderful. Love your channel because of YOU. You are so gracious and positive.
I love balsamic vinegarette so I am definitely going to try this. Thank you for the suggestion...
I was thinking that too but, it wouldn't really work with the dollar tree one. She said the first ingredient was water and it also contained white wine vinegar, which doesn't thicken with heat like balsamic does.
@@dashaslaughter1655I was just thinking that too. It will affect the taste because it is just a vinaigrette and not just balsamic vinegar.
@@dashaslaughter1655 the water will evaporate out ???? Hopefully 😀
Use mayonnaise for a substitute for eggs in cake and cookie mixes, also applesauce.
I love how you literally keep it real for your viewers! In this perfection driven society, it is so refreshing! As you stated, you win some, you lose some, and that's ok. That is real life!
Thank you so much!!
I enjoy the meals you make, it's real life the way my mom, me, my sis and my dad cook. I enjoy your recipes, keep them coming. I love dollar tree. Lynne holmes
@@DollarTreeDinnersJust wanted to say that your Dollar Tree meal finds are great. Especially for those that are just starting to cook, on a budget, or cooking for one.
I just want to say, I appreciate your channel. You don't make this a challenge that seems like a mockery to tight budget shoppers. Thank you for that.
I'll never understand feeling offended it wherever, because someone makes a budget challenge.
Kinda disgusting.
@@naelyneurkopfen9741I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean? I am not offended, it just seems some of the cooking content creators treat the low budget shopping and meal prep as a game. This channel makes it feel more like she truly understands their plight. Sorry if I offended you by giving a compliment to this amazing creator.
@@samikatt2151You most certainly did not. She is fantastic on her ideas !
@@stephsteph5755absolutely. I have gotten some great ideas that actually lower my already super tight budget.
i agree 100%
If canned ham is all that's available, You could make ham croquettes. You'd need eggs, saltines and cheese for that, but they can be used for other recipes as well. Also a great way to use up leftover ham.
I loved canned ham mixed with potatoes au gratin. So very good. I Kroger or Walmart Boxed Potatoes Au Gratin and one can ham drained. Add a little chopped onion and top with shredded cheese. Can also add 1/2 cup peas and carrots to make a one dish meal. Of course I always add extra butter. So very good.
If you make Cuban croquetas, no cheese needed! Just make a rue, as your ham, shape, and bread with crackers.
@@nancycarney One of the reasons why I love this channel is because comments like yours! Other ideas that are added to the already great ideas that she has! That one dish canned ham idea sounds awesome! 😃👏🏻 I'm gonna have to try that! Thanks!
Omggg I love croquettesss, I need to learn to make those 😩
You can always use mayonnaise for an egg substitute.
I love this channel so much.
It's not just the budgeting, it's the creativity. It's the organizing. It's the well explained reasoning and logic behind certain choices. I've been subscribed for awhile now and I've seen a good few of these holiday dinners and they are great examples of making good food choices on a tight budget.
Your style is relatable, you make things easy to understand, and I hope so much that more people find this channel.
I agree with you 100%. She puts so much care, effort, planning and thought into doing these great videos for us. Given what she had to work with, I doubt very many people would come up with as innovative and tasty options. The only thing (and this is a personal thing with me) is when a taste test is being done, having the mic so close to her, makes every bite, chewing noise and swallowing sound excessive. She eats normally, the mic just makes it sound as if she's chomping, smacking and gulping the food. Again, maybe no one else even notices or cares. Otherwise, what a shining star and great help!
@@NanaPapa123That’s so interesting because I didn’t notice it at all! It is so funny how we can all watch the same video and pick up totally different things.
I appreciate the complete lack of judgement and/or food shaming as well!
@@NanaPapa123I agree. lol. I usually use ear buds when watching TH-cam and it really amplifies the sounds. 😂
I love your "I've never done this before". You give us all the option to just "try".
I've missed you! Thank you for the work that you do. You make a big difference in many of our lives.
Thank you so much! We had an event this past weekend so I couldn’t get a video out. Back on schedule for now haha
I am sure your cooking ideas can really help someone on a small budget especially someone who doesn't know how to prepare a holiday dinner Great Job!❣
An easy dessert idea would be a cherry dump cake with 3 ingredients of dry cake mix, cherry pie filling, (any pie filling) and the margarine. Recipes on Pinterest.
Sounds great!
I thought this exact same thing.
Also, she could make it into a sort of pineapple upside down cake, then maybe she could also use the pineapple for the ham(?)
My dollar tree regularly has apple, blueberry, and/or cherry pie filling.
Dump cakes are easy as well. I make it easier by using a cheese grater to grate my butter all around the cake.
I love that you give examples to add if your budget allows like onions in the southern green beans. I think just showing people what can be done on a budget and still enjoy a good dinner is great.
She could use the hydrated onions season for more favor
@@evelynhopklnson954oooh! That's a good idea. 😊
I also wanted to say that i dont live in US so have never been to a dollar tree, but what your receipes have thought me is to buy less and be more creative. I am spending less and wasting a lot less. Thank you !!
I am 62 yrs old & I live in Michigan. USA. Dollar Tree stores are almost on every corner! I just went to a Dollar Tree Store the week before Christmas 2023 so roughly 4 months ago, when my cousin took me !!!! I fell in love but I must say they are extremely addictive! I went the day after Christmas but everything was gone! I've been twice after that and I've spent at least $75 each time. Words of Wisdom : Don't go There !!!😱😳😂🤗☹️😢
Great job! I really enjoy your creativity. I was just in Dollar Tree earlier today. As I was walking through the food aisles I kept thinking, "I wonder what Rebecca could make with this..." 😄
Haha I like to think there are no limits beyond the budget
I also love that you take us shopping now with a voiceover providing your thought process. I've watched all your videos and to my mind that's a great addition to the format.
I really like your videos because I have a friend that literally shops at the dollar store for her main grocery store. This is a really important service that you are putting out for many viewers.
Pleasant young lady who makes videos with meaningful topics. What she does is more inline with what people on a budget would do She's not afraid to make something that the average person can afford instead of these channels that only make a gourmet meal thats not practical for everyone.
Thank you for making Dollar Tree cooking videos. Some senior have to eat dinner from dollar tree.
Suggestion for bruschetta would be reducing the balsamic in a small sauce pan over low heat. It will get more syrupy and sweeter so you have more flavor. Also, bruschetta doesn't just have to be tomato. If all you have access to is canned tomatoes you can do like olives, roasted bell pepper, canned artichokes ECT. It's basically just toast with things on top. You can also do like sardines or anchovies with tomato. The possibilities are endless 😂😂😂
Great video. Don't skip out on the Martha White muffin mixes. They only require 1/2 cup of milk. A mixed in or layered can of apple pie or the cherry pie can make a great desert casserole! Milk about to expire... 12 muffins for 2 days breakfast or 3 days of snacking.
If you had the frozen peppers and onions you could have separated them and used the onions in the green beans and the peppers in the potato casserole. The peppers could have changed the flavor of the country gravy more and you would have had the onion flavor you love in country style green beans. But everything you made on a $20 budget at Dollar Tree looked amazing, as usual.
I was thinking instead of make the GRAVY pre cooked and then adding to potatoes, whisk ingredients then pour over potatoes and let oven cook the “gravy” into the potato scallop, bet that changes up the “Country Gravy” taste..that is what I’m going to try.
I have used the dried minced onions in a pinch in green beans, and it’s actually pretty good! 😊
One thing I love about your videos is your honesty! If it’s good you not only tell us but we can tell by your reaction. If it’s bad your honesty is great. Thank you for that honesty.
You are a breath of fresh air in a world weary of ever increasing inflation and a need for good tasting food done on a budget. Thank you for thinking out of the “box”. Bravo. I’m sold.
I really love that you make a real effort to create lovely meals on a tight budget. You are a help and inspiration for those of us trying to get by in these uncertain economic times.
Your Dollar Tree looks like a grocery store. Mine it seems like the food is more of an afterthought. Never have I seen so many options and such full shelves at mine here in San Antonio Texas. I know you are in the country and grocery stores are not close by so perhaps that is why yours focuses more on the food aspect. Love your content!
Lol! Same here in Durham, NC! Hardly any meat, no sausage, only puny hot dogs, if that. 🧐 We used to have so much, it was actually very productive and economical, and even gratifying👍 to shop at my $🌳s around my neck of the woods here in north cackalack. Now the only thing they have is decoraty shtuff in the $5 aisle. 🙄😒 Also, now they put stupid metal poles to the buggies so you can't roll your purchases out to your car, a real pain for me since I'm disabled and cannot walk, let alone walk with multiple heavy bags dragging me down. 😣😖😩
You’re helping so many ppl with the creativity of a lesser expensive holiday meal🎉🎉
Not just growing a channel but also a public service ❤❤❤
Love your style of inclusion for everyone 💕
That Easter dinner looked beautiful & delicious!! ❤ I'll have to try making ham roses now! How creative & lovely!
Cherry dump cobbler is one of my absolute favorites. All you need is a can of that cherry pie filling, cake mix, and butter.
A beautiful holiday dinner! Bravo. Love your spirit and willingness to try new ideas without wasting food just to be new. The ham rose was a great idea and a nice mix of colors on the plate.
Everything looked good for being on a budget, loved the green bean dish, and the beautiful ham roses! Thanks for sharing!🐇
I appreciate what you do within a low budget. You win some, you lose some. This is real and honest and i appreciate your honesty. You inspire me to try new recipes. It is only me n my husband most of time and i have learned to portion and be creative through your videos. Thank you!
Rebecca...I love your Ham Roses!! And the salted caramel chocolate chip cookie bars are fabulous 😋 I love your content!! ❤🌷❤🌷❤🌷❤🌷❤
Glad you like them!
I think you're a genius. You have so many great ideas and can "make a silk purse out of a sow's ear." Just amazing! Thank you. 🎉
I love the creativity you show in your videos. So wonderful to have as a resource.
Thank you so much for the thought process it takes to come up with these great options.👏🏼👏🏼
Dump cake works well because you don't need eggs for it.I have a recipe where you put one can of crushed pineapple juice and all in the bottom of a baking dish. Then one can of cherry pie filling dropped in dollops on top.1 box of cake mix powder yellow or chocolate on top of the fruit, 2 sticks of butter or Margerine chopped and dropped on top. (You can then add chopped walnuts and coconut on top but you don't have to.) put it in preheated oven 350 degrees til golden and bubbly about 40 minutes.
My mom used to make that one often! It's great warmed up with some vanilla ice cream!!!
Your recipes are truly inspiring and creative. I am so grateful for you, thank you! ❤
I am always amazed at how creative you are, especially when you have to make adjustments while you are in the store and they don't have what you were planning to buy. I can go with a list and still not come out with half the things I had planned on. Love your channel.
A couple meal ideas for you is a potato casserole with sausage and broccoli and then another casserole is using the stuffing mix with canned chicken and green beans. Of course you will need a few ingredients to finish it off, like cream soup or cheese. I hope these ideas help in the future.
Color is flavor so you did an amazing job on the green beans!! Love the idea of your potatoes and fantastic dinner. Ty
Some “bunny” is amazing and that is you! Wishing you and your family a wonderful Easter!
Loved this Rebecca ❤️ xx a go to for us when times are tough for a funky desert with no eggs etc is rice crispy treats either with chocolate or marshmallow in a big sheet pan x
Great idea!!
I think this is great for people like me on a budget and living single after a disability rehab. Thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤
I think you are very clever how you put stuff together always enjoy 😊
I try! 😁
I am a big fan of your channel. I love that when you say you're making all your meals from your shopping trip, that's what you do. I've seen other channels saying they're only spending $20 or $25 but then they have a huge pantry they're also drawing out of. How you put your content together is so helpful for me a senior, living alone and on SS. And great job in creating a wonderful holiday meal.
You can replace the eggs and oil in the cake mix with mayonnaise. In case you want to try a cake for dessert.
How much mayo?
For a boxed cake mix, I’ve read one cup of mayo. There are also homemade mayonnaise cakes from scratch that sub out the eggs/oil/butter. I think they were popular in 50s.
You can also replace eggs in cakes with 1/4 cup applesauce per egg.😊❣️
I really like watching the shop with you Part because that really shows a real cook trying to organize their menu Based on what's available.
That’s a awesome video and ideas! You are doing such a amazing job helping others see they can stretch their 20 and still have Easter! I enjoy your videos so much ❤
I really like how you show real life cooking, that it doesn't always turn out. Loved the ham roses! 🌹
I'm blessed to be invited to a friend's family for Easter, but I love your videos because sometimes there just aren't leftovers and I can easily fix this for myself.
Happy holidays!
I am excited to try this meal. It is just me and my Dad this year. All of these dishes he will eat. Super. I actually already have 5 of the items. That will make the menu cheaper. I always destroy the first slice of homemade chicken pot pie. That's the one I eat. Super job. Thinking outside the box.
I really enjoy your videos and seeing how you plan these meals out. I enjoy the shopping clips and how you rethink things on the fly when they don't have certain ingredients. Please keep including that. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go perfect my ham shapes 😆.
I love how you go for it and experiment but show when something isn’t working and how you pivot!
Those ham roses Would be perfect for Mother’s Day. Great job Rebecca. You’re doing an awesome job.
I love everything about your channel! I love your reactions at the end and how simple the meals are, and how simple your set up is. It's very non-threatening and non-judgmental. Thank you so much for these authentic videos! Your personality is so calming!
Hi Miss Rebecca. I made breakfast for dinner the other day but only had sliced deli ham for meat. I made the ham roses that I saw on your Thanksgiving video. I sprinkled brown sugar on the individual slices and let it soak in for a little while and it turned out really good and was so cute.
For dessert, I love to use that cherry pie filling and graham cracker crumbs in bowls to create individual cherry pies. Then I microwave them for a few seconds until the cherries are warm and top with some vanilla ice cream. They're absolutely delicious and very simple. I bet you could use whipped cream instead of ice cream, too.
Love the ham roses! What a great way to add a some fun and sense of celebration to a simple meal!
I loved that you took us along shopping! A suggestion for the balsamic, maybe try reducing it down on the stove to make a thicker syrup.
Thank you for being real. My granddaughter does griddle cooking videos and she keeps it real too. This was the 1st time I'd watched you and I loved it. You could melt the candies and drizzle them over cookies. Have fun with it🤓
I'm always amazed at your creativity when making these dishes. Good Job! 👍🏿
Your ideas are so sweet... a ham rose, awww. These kinds of suggestions remind me of my first years of marriage.
You did a great job of making a complete meal for four on a $20 budget.❤
You make this awesome. I’m grateful that you show how to nourish us with food. It’s about the people and sharing food. And love. It doesn’t have to be expensive to share love. Awesome work
Hi Rebecca, I haven’t seen the full video yet however, I am excited because if there’s one thing I know for sure is you’re always very innovative with how to use your ingredients and how you stretch a dollar. So thank you so much in advance. And happy Easter to you and your family.
I'm here for your amazing ideas. A bit mobility challenged at the moment i look for ease in preparation, you deliver! That bruschetta is going on my Easter menu! Thanks for all your dedication, you help many of us in different life situations! 💕
Love your videos!
Just a little suggestion/tip: a good egg replacement for baking is applesauce! I know that sounds odd, but it really works! 1/4 cup = 1 egg. Another option is cornstarch. 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water = 1 egg.
🎉yes! It does work
Love this channel! You are so real and everyday kind of person, I am sure these videos help people be less intimidated by cooking as well, thank you girl . 🥰❤
Easy dessert: dump cake! Pie filling, dry cake mix, and sliced butter. So simple, but so yummy! 😊
I truly love your channel and amazing ideas I only wish my Dollar Tree had more then they do but ty for all your ideas!
Glad you like them!
The potatoes with country gravy may not have worked for what you wanted but it could be the base of a really good breakfast casserole. Those green beans looked yummy so I think I’ll try those. Some of the family doesn’t eat onions so I’ll probably just add onion powder as the only change.
Oh that’s a great idea! Some sausage and eggs in there would be amazing
@@DollarTreeDinners You could also put a roll of crescent dough on top or biscuit mix 🤤
Wow you are such a smart shopper, you used the thing that you liked."
Keep up the good work."
Because of the high inflation someone likes myself can learn from you 😊❤."
Thank you for sharing.❤❤❤❤
I think these are great ideas with a few tweaks. Perfect for people on tight budgets that still want a nice meal for the holiday and everyone deserves that. In terms of the cookie add some ice cream baby!
Making boxed Mac&Cheese your way is brilliant! I only make it when my great niece comes to stay but I used your method with Annie’s Shells and White Cheddar tonight and it was great! I love your channel, you are so creative when it comes to cooking, thanks so much. 😎
Hey fun fact for the cake dilemma: you can use a can of soda in replacement of eggs and water and what not just the cake mix and the soda and it turns out great! While you were at the store I was thinking about maybe one of those tall things of coke and then use the rest for some sort of fun drink? Or sprite even with a white cake and then make a fun punch! ❤
The ham roses make the plate look just perfect! I am going to give this a try. Thank you so much for your content! Next time, dump cake. You only need margarine, pie filling and either ice cream or Cool Whip.
The ham roses you can make a maple butter glaze to it on it and bake it. Optional pecans or walnuts crushed on too.
I love all the great ideas you have for all the budget friendly meals.
😂 hamshape but I love how much thought you out into everything. You're really skilled and innovative.
You have great energy 🎉 Easter dinner suggestions: green beans almondine.
Cherry cobbler with biscuits
Sometimes, you have salmon on your meals, which is a great way to change the ham protein. Cut the Texas toast, to make them more like crustini❤❤❤
Can't wait to see maybe a mother's day meal. Thanks for all your hard work
TAKE A BOW! all the flavors and smells of a holiday meal and looks delicious!
You added garlic to the tomatoes and your green bean prep so it’s totally fine that you didn’t add it to the potatoes. You are sooooo creative!❤
Ham roses are so pretty and festive!
Maybe cut the caramels into smaller pieces. The bar idea was Good!
Maybe line with parchment?
Thank you for all you do. Your helping alot people struggling to buy food and any good ideas ❤
I know it's another item, but I've used the grated parmesan in the plastic container on the shelves for gratins and cheesy topping. It gives that salty dairy taste. :)
Great idea! Didn’t think about parm
You might even be able to add parm to cream cheese. My DT usually has pouches of Velveeta and also cans or jars of cheese dip now. I wonder what Velveeta tastes like blended with cream cheese. OK I might be out of control! Lol
As someone who saves the parmesan and pepper packets from delivery pizzas, that’s where my mind went too.
I'm impressed! This was a very nice dinner! I loved the creativity of your ham roses! I think your bars would have been fine if baked just a few more minutes! I was also thinking of a dump cake option for the dessert though. Well done!
I do love this meal plan. I don't know about your stores but my stores and sliced and diced canned potatoes. They are actually very good. Tfs Love your channel.❤
In the future, if you really wanted to make those brownies, you can substitute 1/4 cup of applesauce or mashed banana or yogurt for the egg. That said, I love this menu as is and I really enjoy your channel!
I look at the “$🌲” food isle differently now.
That makes me so happy!
I love the ham roses. What a brilliant idea! I might even do a light dusting of brown sugar on them.
Btw the Martha White muffin mixes only need milk. No oil or eggs necessary. Love your videos
Tip for the green beans as well: get some bacon bits for flavor if they're out of actual bacon. Yeah, they're small and kinda disappear but you still get the rich smoky flavor you're looking for. A little bit of original beef jerky might work well too. As for the cookies, try doubling the recipe.
You are SO kind, and I have sent your link to SO many people! Thank you for bring you!
you can use vegetable oil, mayo, or applesauce to replace eggs in baking items just so you know and are able to expand your recipes
I need to thank you for the recipe for one pot mac and cheese. I used your recipe last night and will never not make it that way! So easy, so creamy, and so delicious. Thank you again!
The potato idea...didn't seem like it would come out like scalloped potatoes as far as taste BUT man does it sound great! I love country gravy on potatoes and cheese too. It seems like such a great combo there imma try that out for sure.
Even when we try ideas and it doesn't come out like we expect it doesn't mean it's a failure... especially when it just works out in a different way lol
I'd love to see you combine the holiday dishes into one new video of favorites
It may not have been your best meal, but it looked filling and pretty tasty 😋! If someone is struggling to feed their family, this would definitely make kids happy!
Another dessert option would be a cake mix and a can of cherry pie filling. Use yellow cake and some margarine to make a crumble to put over the pie filling. Can do the same using a chocolate cake mix and do a rendition of Black Forest crumble. Either would be delicious.
Sometimes my dollarr tree has small white potatoes in the can you can sauté the potatoes in the pot to brown them, and add the sausage since you had so much and bake those with the country gravy. Also you could use a cake mix and use an egg substitute such as apple sauce,
Very nice suggestions. You can try reducing the balsamic to concentrate the flavor
i learn sooo many different substitutions and on-the-spot audibles for meals from this channel!!
This popped up literally as my break ended so I'll be back later to watch it! I'm sure it'll be amazing, like all your vids!
Great job! I love that you keep it real and show the not so great along with the great!
