  • Reviewing the new Mizuno JPX Forged and Tour irons for the mid to low handicap players. The Tour offers superb feel and is so soft when you strike it well. The Forged gives you a little more help on mishits while still being consistent with distance. Srixon's ZX4 MkII irons are a great looking game improvement iron that offers tons of distance and forgivness.

Went to a fitting as a mid-handicap and was surprised to land on the 923 Tours. If I could be consistent off the tee I'd probably be single digits. My last set of clubs were old SS Cobra Muscle/CB forged irons from 20 years ago, and the 923 Tours looked/felt very similar at address, but with better performance across the board. I learned on blades as a kid and the chunkier irons *look* harder to hit to me, and I felt/experienced that when trying the Forged. Since they arrived a couple weeks ago my handicap is down a point already, which is significant because I've been stuck at 12 for a while. Marketing will tell me it's the copper underlay, who knows, but the 923 Tours just feel so sweet.

-my 919 tours have been good to me. Im a 13 and hit on the toe or low clackers as we call them but they still fly up and land soft. Im pretty good at holding the club through on toe strikes, life long compesation lol. The Copper Underlay has me so drooling thooo! I feel like 919s feel somewhat firm but i have hit the occasional center strike thats will blow your mind!! 2 times but wholly shit its epic!!

Was interested in ZX7 but blade length was a little long and top line a little to thick. Bought last set of MP20 MB's Austads had their amazing.

Its like Srixon and Mizuno are always duking it out on looks. Both seem to be able to back it up too.

I enjoyed hitting both 923 Forged and Tour. I ultimately went PXG Gen 6 P. Marketing aside I just think the PXG technology and patents on the club face put them ahead of other club manufacturers.

How soft are the Gen 6?

Srixon have done a fantastic job. I understand ZX4, 5 & 7 have identical topline widths to make combo sets easier on the eye.

I can’t get past the looks of the PXG irons but I do hear positive feedback in regards to the feel

How about the KBS Tour FLT shafts to help with ball flight?

If you had to chose, ZX4 MKii or 923 HM /HM Pro?

The Mizuno HM and HM Pro are MUCH larger than the ZX7 MkII. Not in the same ball park to me. I think a ZX7 MkII player is going to look at the 923 Tour or Forged to compare them.
