Hi great video and thank you for proving torque values. I am not comfortable keeping the vehicle supported by the floor jack. Can you make a video on how to get the Pacifica on Jack Stands using a floor jack? Essentially looking for Jack point other than than the spot welds.
Thank you for the video. I'm daring to attempt a brake pad & rotor replacement myself. I have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited. Would have i have to do anything different beause I have electric calipers - at least that is what one mechanic stated.
On the rear you have electronic calipers. In that case you need to put the vehicle in 'brake service mode'. It's really simple if you need to do that. I dont have a video but im sure you can find one... if you can't, let me kmow and I can refer you to one later when i het home. Don't let these brakes be intimidating.
@@thedragonb nice! Good luck! Keep me posted on how it goes. I know you will be fine. Especially if you fallow this video. I can't wait to hear how it went.
@@davidhale6721 - I still have yet to do this and now looking at the date. It's been 11 months. My brakes are still good and I haven't heard any squealing. But I may have to soon. - I did find anothe video that you have to do something on your screen to service the brakes... Honestly I need to go back adn watch the videos again.
The minimum thickness should be stamped on the rotor. Also, I can look in the brake spec book and it should be listed in there. What is the year/make/model you are working on? If the brake pedal is pulsating or you are grooved... just replace them. IMHO. You kind of have to weigh the price difference in having the rotor's machine compared to just replacing them this day and age. I find it a very similar price to replace them instead of having them Machined. Get me the info about your vehicle. And I will look in the book when I get home tonight.
I have a 2018 Pacifica. We have put roughly 34k miles on it and notice horrible wobble when coming down the mountain. Is it recommended to replace all 4 at same time or in pairs? Front then back?
I believe there is a small 3 ton jack under the front sub frame. not holding it up but only to stop it if the jack fails. Not the best way... I usually just slide a stand under their and raise as close as possible, then move on. I've been told I have too much faith in my jacks a few times..
It's not actually. I need to find the video on the procedure you are talking about. I thought I posted it there. Hopefully I'll find it and add it. Thanks for pointing that out.
Glad to help. Good luck getting the job done. If you have this van, make sure you check out my video library. I have videos coming out for the cabin air filter, pcv, engine air, and emissions locations with a lot of info. Thanks for the view. Good luck!! 👍
@@ScottiesHobbies thanks I added you as a subscriber. Quick question, do you jack the pinch weld or the flat spot in front of the pinch weld where the triangle is? My bottle jack is too tall to jack the pinch weld, but will fit in the flat area in front of pinch weld where cutout is. That metal seems thin there.. thanks
Can you do a video on at 2018 Pacifica service bulletin NUMBER: 02-011-18 ? This bulletin involves inspecting and if necessary, applying Green Loctite 290 to the front hubs SYMPTOM/CONDITION: Customers may experience the following: • A clicking or popping noise while traveling at low speeds and steering the vehicle left or right.
Whoops... I forgot to update that. According to the Motor Brake Guide. Fronts: Caliper to bracket: 27 ft-lbs Bracket to knuckle: 149 ft lbs Rears: Caliper to bracket: 19 ft-lbs Bracket to knuckle: 110 ft-lbs Thanks for reminding me. I need to update the description. 👍👍
according to the Motor Book Brake Spec Guide... 2021 chry, Pac. front bracket to knuckle: 149 ft lbs, Caliper to bracket: 27 ft lbs. Its all up to you if you want to use torque specs, these are just what the manufacturer and I recommend.
Great video, i will be doing brakes for the first time, my 2017 Pacifica needs brakes and rotors with 48K miles.
Hope it went well. Glad to help you get them done! 👍💪
Thank you! I have this exact minivan (2017) and job. I appreciate the voice over to explain all the other details.
GOT A 21 PACIFICA THAT NEEDS REPLACING OF WHEEL HUB BEARING... ONLY VIDEO ON HERE. THANK YOU. IT GOT ME POINTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
Super clear demo. Thanks.
Great idea using a lug nut to keep the rotor steady!
It's always the little things that count. 👍 good luck with your next project. 💪🤞
Again excellent video!!!im subscribed…
Thanks for the sub!

Great vid! I’m working on 2021 pacific, is there any major changes I need to know before starting project?
How did you know whether, or not you need new rotors? Where did you find the thickness specs for this model?

Can I use a C clamp to compress the caliper.
Yes.

I have a 2017. I noticed yours has two pistons. Is that different from mine?
Looking at the fitment of your calipers. It looks like the assembly shown in the video should be the same as yours. A dual piston setup.
Where on the vehicle did you line up a supporting jack stand? Or did you just let the jack hold the load?
I believe there is a small 3 ton jack under the front sub frame. not holding it up but only to stop it if the jack fails. Not the best way... I usually just slide a stand under their and raise as close as possible, then move on. I've been told I have too much faith in my jacks a few times..
When doing the rear, DO NOT forget to put the brakes in (Service Mode) first, which will release the electronic piston for service.
Is that in the description?

@@ScottiesHobbies No prob. This applies only for the rear calipers on models with electronic emergency brakes. 👍🏻

Like your video except for not putting the factory torque specs in it for the caliper bracket bolts and caliper bolts
I think calper specs are like 77lb and 55lb front and back.

Caliper to bracket: 27 ft-lbs
Bracket to knuckle: 149 ft lbs

150 pound feet??? That is way too much.

@Scotties Hobbies Actually it is 125 ft lbs. You were right. My apologies. I was confused with something else. Good video my friend 👍
