The new Stormcoven is a unit of Wizards that does not create a regiment unlike the Knight Arcanum and it does allow you access to more Wizards. I just realied I probably should have picked up a 2nd unit... For a cheap level 1 Priests I prefer the Lord Relictor for his D6+1 chant and he can take Warrior and Ruination chamber units while the Knight only can take Warrior Chamber units and Gryph-hounds (Very cool cheap unit to do battle tactics and allows up to 3 of your ranged units to deal d3 MWs whenever anenemy unit is placed within 12" of this unit.) FYI Vanquishers are fantastic!!! They only cost 110 for 5 so you always reinforce them. Theor damage output is much better than their warscroll suggests. 90% of enemy list shave Infantry which will change their Rend to 2 and their damage is increased to a 2 vs units that have 5 or more models that do not have to be infantry. A lot of units that contain 3 models are usually reinforced. Also they are a great target for the Blessed Weapons Prayer which gives a target unit a +1 to their Attack Characteristic which grants them a total of 10 extra attacks. They also have a Champion who has an additional attackfor a total of 11 and a Banner and musician for xtra Rally dice. They also make a great screening unit. For some reason I hate Libetrators and Vigilors are great MSU units for giving out +1 to hit on their ranged attacks. Praetors are an auto take to give their Important characters a 5+ Ward (The Dragon that casts spells). Annihilators with the big Meteor Hammers are just too slow. Usually, I prefer the Shield variants to contenst objectives because your opponent has to consider they will strike last.
My theory on the Stormcoven is they ported them over since they essentially discontinued 90% of their wizards when Sacrosanct got squatted. This was likely damage control since they only had one other non-unique wizard left.
@@gwell2118 I don't know a lof of the warscrolls form warcry and underworlds that do make it to the game are really good. Hunters of haunchi and the skaven plaugepack are also just auto takes. Seems to me gw has some stock to sell.
@@koenvandiepen7651 Probably a combination of that and realizing they have gaps in the battletome line that need filling and it is simply cheaper to just port them over than making whole new models. Case in point the plague pack was ported to fill the gap from the loss of the foot plaugue priest. And the Stormcoven was to give Stormcast more spell casters as again beyond Krondys they only had one wizard left.
Super fun seeing your "first look" experience and how excited you are. Can't wait to get Tornus, been my favorite character since listening to Hallowed Knights: plague garden. One of my favorite combos is having a hero with a "Fight together" ability and the quicksilver draught to give that hero and another unit strike first in the opponents turn. (There is an FAQ where this works as long as there are no other units with strike first left to activate.)
FYI Lorai cannot cast Stormcast Eternal Wizard Spells nor can she cast SCE Manifestations unless you picked a non-SCE Manifestation. She has a very powerful Wizard Spell on her Warscroll that makes any of Naeves companionswhile within 6" of her make any attacks against her or her companions fail on a 1-5.
I'm not sold on new palladors myself- Gryphounds are our usual screens, and Prosecutors are the usual "I'm dropping someone in and expecting it to die" units. as such, when your warrior units die, it's usually much later in the game. if annihalators were actually deliverable, you could drop them in first, krump something, die, and activate the Palladors too. Instead, the new Palladors have too much competition from infantry
So many AoS factions have a real problem with having too few options for kits, meanwhile the Stormcast have so many that they're getting kits retired. Feels bad.
Not only this, most warscrolls are trash. Makes you wonder WHY even after the rewrite of all warscrolls they keep making the same mistakes over and over and over again. I am so done with this.
Pretty sad they didn't do something with the regiment abilities, you still don't really get anything for the majority of the army being warrior chamber unless you jump through hoops. Then again, this book was written probably a year ago and they just copy and pasted it into the faction pack until it released. Vanguard raptors are still way too strong and in a hilarious turn, the Praetors actually lost their ability to bodyguard someone when they are set up in the celestial realm (again because this was written and printed well before their recent changes). I'm sure they will clarify that day 1, but it's a pretty glaring omission still.
@@TabletopTitans hmm.. were the new Skaven cards this way? Can you measure them to see if they're 70mmx120mm? (those are tarot). If you can sleeve them, this might be a positive new direction

paladors are actually better atm. 1 extra model, 5 extra wounds, roughly sameish damage, insane movement speed. when you reinforce them its 30 wounds vs 20 from dracothian and you can bring 3 models back instead of 2. not the new uber trash paladors mind you. those will never ever see play unless they cost like 150 points per unit.

I'm very happy the SCE range is getting reduced, it's just too many units to balance, write rules for and understand.
All the vanguard units goin up to a 3+ save is based.
Would Vandus Hammerhand’s passive work on his own control score as well? Haven’t found anything in the rules to contradict this so far.
