I never understand why people start with giant pieces of material only to then slowly remove more than half of it. Like why would you not just cut the piece down some first? I see another TH-camr do this with resin and it's even more baffling with resin because resin is expensive. He pours a giant bucket instead of pouring a smaller vessel and then cuts it down to less than half of the original pour. I'll never understand haha but at the same time the project is beautiful. Good video.
I need to start a channel for my bowls. I carve them first, then make a form and pour the resin. The reason not to do it that way is, it is way more time consuming. A lot of tiny pours.
Being someone new to this, when you poured the resin over the holes in the wood, I was thinking won't that cause bubbles. But then you put it on what i assume was some kind of shaker, or heated thing, the bubbles came out. What was the thing you used to get the bubbles out? BTW it looked awesome, great job>
That wood is gorgeous!! The grain is beautiful with the different colours of the wood. I love how the egg turned out. Green is not my favourite colour but in this case it really compliments the wood! I wish I could make things like that. I make things with resin but I don't have a lathe.
Hahaha no, it's just a layer perspective, you can look at my video : The fire Embryo, this one looks better and yoj will see more the step to make these
I love this egg series. Was thinking they'd look awesome on a shelf in my living room. Till I saw they cost $300 lol not saying they're over priced, at all. So much hard work went into them. Just saying I can't afford to buy a set of them to put on my wall lol would be $1200 to do what I pictured in my head
@@Etiennemorinwoodturning dohh - no and that should have been obvious lol - the wood i use with resin tends to be cracked or have cavities so i am using the resin to seal it but yeah some sanding sealer first should stop bubbles coming out of the wood - will give that a try
Yeah the only problem is when i do my clean up i like to move the lathe to clean the table. The fact is i have a small lathe and maybe those log are too big for it
Beautifully done! Where abouts did you find the wood? I had a box elder burl a few years ago that I made a bowl from and the grain patterns on yours looks just like yours.
Could easily be box elder, grows from central America to north west territories , and Atlantic to Pacific, low spreading burlie trunks along rivers, taller single trunks in drier locations

chemtec or black diamond pigment

You should have drilled out the center and put some kind of light in it. It would probably look great

pretty sure the effect is created by letting the first pour dry before the second pour.
