I was around when MTV debuted. My first metal album was Black Sabbath- Paranoid. I've been alive many years and been rockin' my whole life! BABYMETAL is so refreshing! These girls SuMetal, MoaMetal and YuiMetal (no longer a member) have opened a door. And it leads to the foxhole. Japan is on board now, so lookout world!
Great song. I hope you will hear more songs. Every song is completely different, so I highly recommend it. The girls have already started at a young age. They already have a lot of experience on stage. They have worked hard for choreography. The whole concert is like this. Each song has its own choreography. It must be so exhausting to pull it through, especially when you consider how young they still were. When I watched the first concert I was so overwhelmed that I needed a break. They just go through there. Nothing is left to chance. Every little thing is rehearsed or planned. I have the greatest respect for the performance of all participants. The band, the girls, the people in the background like coaches and so on. Everyone does an incredible job. Then there are the fans who give their all at the concert. This is the recipe for a perfect evening.
It's not called Babymetal because the girls are young. It refers to it being a new genre. They are the founders of kawaii metal. It also has to do with the fact that the word 'Baby' and 'heavy' look almost exactly the same in Japanese. Every song by this band is different, so you should watch a couple more to get the real sense of who they really are. People will provide you with a ton of suggestions. :)
"It's supposed to be metal but it's soo cute". Welcome to the world of kawaii metal. Most reacters end up reacting to this song as their first Babymetal exposure to Babymetal because people recommend it mostly for its shock value. It's just so different and poppy and metal that a lot of people end up confused, if not completely mind blown. The running theme with Babymetal is "Give them 3 songs and you'll become a fan". This is because their library is so diversified that people are bound to find something they like. And once you start liking one song, once you get past that initial shock, you start appreciating their other songs more. Road of Resistance live is usually the next step for most reacters. It's a lot more rock, a lot less poppy and overall pretty awesome. th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html

Welcome to the Wounderful World of Babymetal!! These girls are fantastic and have a catalog of about 34 songs to their credit including a Top 40(#39) album on the US Billboard Charts!! (#15 in UK). This was probably their most "Poppy" song but they have everything from Stadium Rock Ballads to Hard Core Death and Black Metal, including a full on Crucifixion event! The musicians for the group, known as the Kami Band, are some of the most talented in all of Japan and definitely compete as some of the best in the world! Soo much more to see from this group! Their dance routines are choreographed by Mikiko Mizuno, the choreographer for the section of the 2016 Olympic Games Closing Ceremonies introducing Japan as the Next Host Country AND the Lead choreographer of the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan! watcher2554 yeah the girls are fantastic but what about the amazingly talented band that is actually playing the music? Oh no on cares because all people care about these days is singing.....
@@UltraViolent21 Oh there is no doubt about the significance of the Kami Band and their prowess at awsome music making so do not get me wrong. Su-metal didn't have an expression because she was too busy catching her breath since she was the only one singing. They were even younger in Doki Doki Morning.
I think that expression was to match the meaning of the lyrics. Su was just wanting some chocolate, but was being barraged by the world (represented by Yui and Moa) not to do it as she would gain weight. Like most of us, in the end she succumbed to temptation.
well ... you survive entering the first door to BABYMETAL Universe ... nice and now just relax and enjoy the ride with Babymetal :) Su-Metal , YuiMetal and MoaMetal is the most Beautifully Scary in Metal World and Su-Metal is our Queen of all queens , our Goddess of all goddesses.
Just wana give you some answers. Yes it's awesome to see them live, they always give 110%. Their fans are also awesome and extremly frindly so a Mosh'sh Pit is an extreme friendly Mosh Pit where nobody gets hurt. They call their style Kawaii (cute) Metal. The name Baby Metal is more a word play. Baby looks realy similar to Heavy when you write it im Japanese letters.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🍫 💝️ The 'Gimme Chocolate!!' official video recently went over 100,000,000 views. They have been joined on stage for this song by members of Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and DragonForce. Not all at the same time, obviously. : ) This was filmed at the 'Legend 1997' concert celebrating Su-metal, the lead singers' 16th Birthday. Yuimetal and Moametal were 14. I'd love to see you react to the official video for 'Karate'. It has a very different feel, while still blending kawaii and metal.
There's three ways to go now 1) More metal like Rondo of Nightmare, Sis Anger, GJ, or BabyMetal Death 2) More Jpop like Doki Doki Morning, Yava, or Awadama Fever 3) Stay down the middle with Karate, Megitsune, or Road of Resistance
Nice concept of two different pairs reacting to the same song. Looking forward to more reactions to Babymetal. If you dig into them more, you will find how interesting and enjoyable they are to watch!
Well done on finding BABYMETAL ... they started in 2010 when the girls were aged just 12, 11 and 11. Su-metal, the lead singer, is now 21, Yuimetal and Moametal are 19. Sadly Yui announced last October that she would be leaving the band after a year's absence from the stage due to an ongoing health problem, but there are still many great songs and performances from them for you to see. It seems you like to do dance covers ... it would be impressive if you could learn the dance for their song Catch Me If You Can www.dailymotion.com/video/x5eka2k
Thanks for choosing to react to BABYMETAL, they're amazing! As someone who is new to the group, I thought I'd give you and your followers a little background on them. BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break. They were formed in 2010 as part of the idol goup Sakura Gakuin, before touring on their own in 2011 and have gone from strength to strength. They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar. Below is a list of some of their best performances that I hope you will consider for future reactions. Should you decide to do more BABYMETAL reactions in the future, you should be aware that TH-cam will block almost all videos that incorporate audio. The best way round this is to mute the video and provide a link that we can open in a new window and sync with yours. Just give us a countdown before you start playing it. BABYMETAL are awesome! The song is about girls (?) loving chocolate but worrying about their weight. Perhaps it's a metaphor for the pressure imposed by cultural expectations, who knows. You should check out more, by the third song you'll love them! If you do, choose a real live version, they are incredible live! Like this one, the song is called "Megitsune": th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html (Edited: third song, not first...)

Martinmetal you left out that in 2015 Vogue magazine Japan named them Women of the Year and GQ in their Man of the Year issue named them Discovery of the Year 2015
Keep going with Baby Metal but also look at another Japanese band called Band Maid, an all female rock band dressed up as maids. They play their own instruments (well) and are great live. They have many songs and a big following. Start with any song you like they are all good. I particularly like the live version of Freedom, also consider a Japanese 3 piece all girl punk band called Mutant Monster. I like the Hong Kong Rocks concert. Both Misa from Band Maid and the girl girl from Mutant Monster play bass like they are possessed.
I think the company just worked poor Yui to death. Her health gave out. Toward the end, she would hardly speak in interviews because she was afraid of saying something wrong.
Do BabyMetal ROAD OF RESISTANCE - LIVE In Japan, It will expand your idea of what this band is, dramatically. I'll subscribe just to see what you think if you do. Peace!
im suprised you guys are just reacting to this theres so much you haven't seen you should react to Karate, the one, megistune(Favorite), Line!, Distortion, and starlight (a tribute to a member who died) their band has also expanded and technically one of the girls left.
You want react to a all girl band of 3 sisters that totally rock, not cute but great rock performance, there call the Warning band, 19, 16 and 14 years all, have fan all over the world, they where in Ellen Degeneres show, open concert for the Killers and Def Leppard, started with covers and now the have two records, they write and do there own music, I recommend dust to dust or survive live concerts
Take a look at another Japanese group called Band -Maid. 5 young ladies who rock with the best of them. Unlike Babymetal, these women formed the group on their own, write the words and music and play the instruments. They can go toe to toe with any band out there.
Dan Balares she didn’t have to say “At least one can sing” that’s rude. It’s typical to not like something but you don’t have to be so rude to an account, she also called them annoying. I get it, you don’t have to like it, but it’s not necessary to be rude to a band.
Still hoping you will come back for round 2 of Babymetal. Maybe give one of the new songs a try? The new album comes out in October but they have released a few songs already. I would suggest PA PA YA w/F. Hero. I think you will like this one a lot. The girls are now young ladies (20-21) and the music has matured with them. Give it a shot. 😁
You just watch the most wellknow and popular Japanese group/band in the world. Karate the official MV is a good MV to do next. Then checkout performances from Sonisphere 2014, their breakout show internationally.
Listening this at work, with some background noise. I can't really hear anything of the comments, because your "ambient" background music is playing too loud on the video when people give their impressions. Against background noise the music comes through, but speech not enough to make out the words. Lower ambient music volume by about 10% and you're good.
In my own personal opinion I really can't call this a review. This was really nothing more than a tasting. If you had at least followed on with more BabyMetal reviews I'd feel differently. But in 7 months not a one. So, you all really owe it to yourselves to watch Road of Resistance live and Karate.
I cringev when i see this as a first song reviewed as it does not give you a true picture of their talent. You should watch: 1. Karate the offical version 2. Road of Resistance Live in Japan 3. Head Banger There is a reason they have support of everyone from Slayer to Lady Gaga
You do not have to be so rude. Calling them annoying and offending their singing is extremely rude and disrespectful. You do not have to like them at all, but it’s not necessary to offend them by acting so closed minded. You do not have to like it, I get it. But offensive comments, just makes you look bad kid. Moa can sing as well as Yui. You just haven’t seen them. Still, those offensive thing to say isn’t necessary. This is for the Black haired girl with the glasses. 🖤
Nice reaction! I love babymetal too. And I wanna recommend brand new artist. Her name is chiaki mayumura. She is very interesting tarented japanese singer songwriter. I will be happy to see reaction of her songs. This URL is her interesting song called"obaachan wa sideslow"which means sideslow of grandama th-cam.com/video/O01EkQGmBco/w-d-xo.html

At first its kawaii metal aka cute metal and not some J-pop. rock what ever. the girls are directly coming for the 7th circle of hell. Satan is absolutly happy that they are playing with the mankind for now. He is heavyly stressed about the three girls.
Sorry. I like Band-Maid so much more. These guys are great entertainment but they are a manufacturered group. They are the brainchild of the moguls who run JPOP. Babymetal is told what to do every step of the way by suits who will determine for you what is cool. I don't need that advice. I also realize that the best Band-Maid will ever be in Japan is a top five rock band. However, their potential around the world is far, far greater. They transcend cultural, national, language and age barriers with ease and that is something all those other corporate created groups will never be able to do. In this one regard Babymetal is the Japanese Monkees. Band-Maid is the Beatles. And if you don't or can't see the difference l do feel sorry for you. Babymetal is great entertainment but nothing else. And they may well be the number one band in Japan but in the world at large Band-Maid is the best. Jimmy Page thinks so as well. Sacramento loves Band-Maid.
@@otomenotiming There is a lot of misinformation in Robert's assertions about Babymetal's origins. They were not the brainchild of "moguls", they are not told what to do by "suits" and his Monkees v Beatles analogy is not only ridiculously pretentious, it is just wrong. Babymetal is the brainchild of one producer (Kobametal), a lifelong metalhead used to working with bands but having to work with the kids division of the Amuse talent agency as metal and rock etc wasn't selling so well in Japan and was being forced more and more underground as the media only played the more commercial pop music. He saw Suzuka singing with her previous pop trio Karen Girl's in their farewell concert and was so impressed with her voice and unusually loud singing style and her stage presence that he thought she would be wasted in pop. Amuse set up the Idol group Sakura Gakuin with a school theme for girls aged 11 to 15, Su was a founder member. Within the group they had sub-units like they would have in school for extra curricular activities like the tennis club, the cooking club and so on. Koba set up the 'heavy music club' with Su, Yui and Moa as the members with Su and her vocal abilities at their centre - they performed under the name 'Babymetal'. Amuse allowed Koba to have his side project but provided little or no extra funding as they thought fusing pop style vocals with metal instrumentation was mad and would never work - they even had to borrow clothes from other students and staff members for their costumes in their first video. Against all expectations Babymetal blew up and gained popularity internationally. When it came time for Su to graduate from Sakura Gakuin in 2013, exceptionally Babymetal separated with her to become a band in their own right. Their live backing band (the Kami Band made up of the best session musicians that could be found) was brought in to support them in live shows (until then they had sung live to a backing track with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play the instruments behind them). They were the youngest band (average age just over 15) to headline the Budokan in Tokyo early in 2014 and went on to perform at the Sonisphere metal festival in the UK as part of their first world tour. There they were moved to open the main stage in front of 60k metalheads who knew little or nothing about them or thought they were a manufactured joke and were prepared to boo them off stage. By the end of the set the crowd were calling for "one more song" and their t-shirts outsold all the other bands for the rest of the weekend. Babymetal was the first Japanese act to break into the top 40 of the Billboard charts in over 50 years, their album reached number 15 in the UK and they were the first Japanese band ever to headline Wembley Arena. They sold out Tokyo Dome (55k people each night) two nights running in 2016 and played a completely different set each night. Through their success other Japanese bands (like Band Maid) have gained more attention than they would have ever managed without Babymetal paving the way and encouraging people to explore what else japan had to offer, sales of metal and other genres has also risen. Everything Robert said about Band Maid "They transcend cultural, national, language and age barriers" was applied first to Babymetal - at their concerts you will find hairy, tattooed metalheads, parents with their kids dressed like the Babymetal girls, teenagers, people in their 60s and 70s and all sorts in between of all nationalities all enjoying the show and the music side by side. Band Maid are very good, they are not the Beatles - one of the most influential bands of all time - they are just another band playing (very good) hard rock music. The Monkees were 4 actors brought together for a TV show - one of them could play guitar when they started. Babymetal is a band formed and developed around the talents of the 3 girls, especially around Su and her voice - it was not a concept some suits had and then found girls to fit into. There is very good reason they have won many awards for things like 'best live band', 'best Japanese act' and so on from MTV, Loudwire, Kerrang etc Sorry for writing so much, but ignorant, misinformed nonsense like Robert posted pisses me off.
@@Grington300 Agreed, but I think "average age just over 15" just under, not over. I wouldn't say the metalheads knew nothing, a good chuck of the crowd had probably seen Gimme Choco MV, but that's it. Which does mean knowing close to nothing. :-)
@@autohmae You're probably right, I think there is only a month or two in it either way anyway. I think 'little or nothing' covered what was known about them by most of the people at Sonisphere :-) I really don't get why people like Robert turn up on Babymetal reactions to promote Band Maid, but the only way they can think of doing that is by spouting the same inaccurate or completely untrue crap about Babymetal that metal elitists and haters were spouting 8 or 9 years ago. If their favourite band is as good as they say you'd think they would be able to stick to explaining their own virtues - or is there no more to them than "one of them writes the songs and they play their own instruments"? I know there is, people like Robert don't seem to even though they claim to be fans. Don't just compare them to a band that is not only very different but also unique in so many ways. Is Band Maid's music ground-breaking, what else is unique about them? ... or maybe Robert and his ilk are just insecure as Band Maid would most likely be virtually unheard of if Babymetal hadn't opened the Japanese music doors to so many people internationally.
@@Grington300 I have no problems with Band Maid or their fans getting attention because of Babymetal, but as you mentioned when it's used to spread false information that's not OK.

@@ozsctgeo2679 Possibly. i didn't go that deep into thought for that song.
well ... you survive entering the first door to BABYMETAL Universe ... nice and now just relax and enjoy the ride with Babymetal :)
Su-Metal , YuiMetal and MoaMetal is the most Beautifully Scary in Metal World and Su-Metal is our Queen of all queens , our Goddess of all goddesses.

The 'Gimme Chocolate!!' official video recently went over 100,000,000 views.
They have been joined on stage for this song by members of Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and DragonForce.
Not all at the same time, obviously. : )
This was filmed at the 'Legend 1997' concert celebrating Su-metal, the lead singers' 16th Birthday.
Yuimetal and Moametal were 14.
I'd love to see you react to the official video for 'Karate'.
It has a very different feel, while still blending kawaii and metal.
There is no way that the lead singer is 37 now. I think that you're date is wrong.
@@christophernathanandwifesa6566 Suzuka Nakamoto was born in 1997. That's why it was called Legend 1997. She'll be 22 this December.

And don't forget Headbanger! That's a must...say around your fourth pick for reviewing.
The BABYMETAL fandom is very used to this way of doing things.

Yeah being in the crowd is awesome. Went to see them in Chicago last Friday. It was awesome.
Like this one, the song is called "Megitsune": th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html
(Edited: third song, not first...)
Babymetal it's a band that always have the first reaction like WTF is this haha but whe you hear Babymetal one more time you think this is good, when you hear it the third time you think they are awesome!!
Try 'Doki Doki Morning'. I think it was their first song, and I also heard the girls wrote the lyrics themselves.
I like that girls portray the 4 main otome archetypes - moe, tsundere, tomboi and kuudere :)
(+ pretty anime hair colors)))
What do you mean? 😅
they are like 19 and 17 and like 21 now yui left the group now
I think the company just worked poor Yui to death. Her health gave out. Toward the end, she would hardly speak in interviews because she was afraid of saying something wrong.

Take a look at another Japanese group called Band -Maid.
5 young ladies who rock with the best of them.
Unlike Babymetal, these women formed the group on their own, write the words and music

The dark haired girls were annoying to watch. Mostly negative.

What you expect? This is a reaction, not a "positive" reaction. I bet you hate people who give good reaction to things you hate. It's the same thing.
yeah just another angry hairy feminist !
Dan Balares she didn’t have to say “At least one can sing” that’s rude. It’s typical to not like something but you don’t have to be so rude to an account, she also called them annoying. I get it, you don’t have to like it, but it’s not necessary to be rude to a band.
good reaction... greetings from Indonesia, I also make a reaction video about BABYMETAL, BAND MAID and other J-rock bands.. :)
More BABYMETAL! Karate, Road of Restistance....
Listen to The One. You can hear them all sing.
Some of you need some Babymetal education.. Then you'll understand.. Its genius and a smash all over world..
Doll$boxx - take my chance
it's called *Kawaii-Metal*
This song is about how girls are always preoccupied about their weight. They love chocolate but they're afraid that it will make them fat.
Listening this at work, with some background noise. I can't really hear anything of the comments, because your "ambient" background music is playing too loud on the video when people give their impressions. Against background noise the music comes through, but speech not enough to make out the words. Lower ambient music volume by about 10% and you're good.
Could you please react to Band-Maid? Thank you.
Reaction BabyMetal-road of Resistance, best song
Should've reacted to Rondo of Nightmare live instead :D
Road of Resistance is essential.
In my own personal opinion I really can't call this a review. This was really nothing more than a tasting. If you had at least followed on with more BabyMetal reviews I'd feel differently. But in 7 months not a one. So, you all really owe it to yourselves to watch Road of Resistance live and Karate.
mosh'sh pit = mosh pit inside the mosh pit... is that it?
I cringev when i see this as a first song reviewed as it does not give you a true picture of their talent. You should watch:
1. Karate the offical version
2. Road of Resistance Live in Japan
3. Head Banger
There is a reason they have support of everyone from Slayer to Lady Gaga
Damn, that blonde is gorgeous. Same can't be said for the grumpy feminist lesbian with the black hair.

the girls are directly coming for the 7th circle of hell. Satan is absolutly happy that they are playing with the mankind for now. He is heavyly stressed about the three girls.
Annoying? Shame you dont get it..
No need to apologize for liking another band more. =)
There is very good reason they have won many awards for things like 'best live band', 'best Japanese act' and so on from MTV, Loudwire, Kerrang etc
Sorry for writing so much, but ignorant, misinformed nonsense like Robert posted pisses me off.
I think 'little or nothing' covered what was known about them by most of the people at Sonisphere :-)
I really don't get why people like Robert turn up on Babymetal reactions to promote Band Maid, but the only way they can think of doing that is by spouting the same inaccurate or completely untrue crap about Babymetal that metal elitists and haters were spouting 8 or 9 years ago.
