Natalie Dessay performs Cleopatra's recitative and aria "Esser qui deve in breve...Venere bella" from Handel's opera "Giulio Cesare". Emmanuelle Haïm conducts Le Concert d'Astrée.

Uncanny ease of execution and musical genius! A true Musician!
Oh a "Great thanks" for me! It's nice to find those when you don't remember they were there, and why you deserve them... Thank you Mike! :-)
Exquisite. In my favorites. Thanks for posting this gem.
@mayreecanary I love it too! Following notes is always fun, especially with Handel! :)
I like more "Un leggiadro giovinetto" but this one is also a true musical gem!
@AminaBellini No problem! She's so charming and light as Cleopatra...

un leggiadro!!! I didnt know he re used un leggiadro!
@UnoriginalComposer He did! I guess he was an "unoriginal composer" sometimes too! :P
@SsteinwayS I guess its such a good melody how could he not... hahahahahaa and some would have us beleive that Handel basically stole all of his music.. mostly the handel haters. btw... just since you mentioned something.. I dont steal anything I call myself "unoriginal" becuase I write baroque sounding things which is highly looked down at by every musician I know.
@UnoriginalComposer It's a very cute melody! Well...keep it up! Thank goodness it's not the post-modern trash which I find totally unoriginal and terrible :P It takes great courage to write Baroque music in the modern era! I write sonnets, so I guess I'm a little behind the times too :)
