Are you talking about the DCS Commander or DCS Remote Commander? I think there is a limitation running PS2 5 volt boards with it, isn't there? Are your PS2's having the issue 5 or 3 volt boards?
Never tried the remote. Love the app. Can you or have you tried running legacy Lionel using DCS? I’m afraid to try it. Worried train will stop working.
The WTIU combo unit is not released yet. We are hoping to see it this year sometime from MTH. Right now it is just the separate TIU and add-on WIU unit if you want Wi-Fi control with the app.
I like the DCS remote better. Easier to use with one hand. Most of the time I don’t need to look at it. I’ve had one for twenty years so maybe I’m just used to it.
Hello I’m searching for help. I have an older model TIU, the one that requires a nine pin port adapter. I purchased an USB to RS-232 Serial Adapter. I connected it to the nine pin port, and When I plugged the USB end into my DCS WI-FI Interface, the TIU light on the unit, didn’t come on. All other lights on the interface came on. My question, is there a particular amount of power required from the RS-232 adapter to identify/read the TIU? Thanks in advance.
I will need to look at your earlier video to upgrade tiu software. I purchased the wiu (on backorder) to replace my broken remote. Do I need the remote when I upgrade the tiu?
No, the TIU and Remote updates are 2 separate steps, so if you are ditching the remote just update the TIU. However, the remote does show your TIU version so you can verify update. Although I never had a TIU not update as long as it completes without error.
Hi I’m having a problem with getting my tiu to find any locos I have upgraded it and remote to 6.1 but when I power up the loco sounds start up straight away but can’t get the remote to find the loco what am I doing wrong advice please shaun
I've been unable to download the app for my android because it was made for an older version android. Not much use in purchasing the WTIU if it won't work with my Samsung Galaxy. Any remedies?
i have three TIU's in my layout system, all programmed as super TIU . Will the one WIU work with the three TIU's in my system ? Where can I purchase the WIU ?
Unfortunately, no, it would require 3 WIU's. On a layout with multiple TIU's in normal TIU mode, any remote that sends a command will be received by ALL TIU's. BUT only the TIU the engine was last associated with would actually forward that command to the Track/Engine. The others would not forward anything. Using Super TIU mode allows the command to be forwarded from ALL TIU's and not just the one the engine was last associated with (it ignores that). But each TIU still needs to receive the command in the first place and the only way to send a command from the app to an individual TIU is with a WIU connected to it. Super TIU mode does not mean one TIU sends commands to the other TIU's. The original command still must come into each TIU. If you get 3 new WTIU's coming out that have the wifi built in, then you would be good. The WIU's are like the TIU's right now, hard to find and way overpriced. I'd wait for the new WTIU.

WTIU will only work with APP. Remotes will need old TIU -WIU pair.

HAHA, never be afraid. If you have the DCS companion guide it will tell you everything about adding TMCC/Legacy control.

Initially, same happened to me. Turns out the cheaper adapter I bought was garbage. Bought the recommended unit off of Digikey and all worked great.

What's the trick to get the wiu to work with an android phone? It seems it doesn't like to operate with anything besides an iPad.
I wonder what the new wtiu will do that's better than the wiu/tiu set up?
No sure, but they did mention there would be new features in the new combined unit. So, it will be interesting to see what they are coming up with.
