- The Sun’s Trevor Kavanagh believes a Labour government would “do things worse than the Tories have.”
Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer are kicking off their election campaigns on Thursday, six weeks before the country goes to the polls.
The Prime Minister is touring broadcast studios before embarking on a two-day whistlestop trip taking in all four nations of the UK.
Political correspondents were on an early morning train out of London to follow Mr Sunak on his tour.
Trevor says: “I think it’s going to be a catastrophic period under Labour.”

Im confused, the UK public are sick of migration so they vote for Labour? WHY, theyve not promised LESS migration?
Because immigration isn't the biggest issue for most people, the economy is. And people trust Labour with the economy more than the Tories. That's why the Greens, Lib Dems, Reform, etc, are unlikely to win, because they're too radical and people don't trust them with the economy.
No one is that bothered about immigration. Only crazy Tories.
Communists hate nation states, which is why they love mass immigration. Starmer is a communist. He joined the Haldane Society of lawyers at the end of the 1980s, when everyone knew it was a cover organisation for the communist party. Rishi has done a very good job on inflation. My vote is with Rishi.
@susannamarker2582 Rishi Sunak had absolutely nothing to do with inflation. The Bank of England was responsible for implementing higher interest rates which have brought down inflation. The Bank of England is completely independent of the government and does not take orders from the PM

And Rishi has not injected too much money into the economy. He understands what the control of the money supply means. Just like Thatcher did. Starmer would not.

The fundamental problem he has is that removing FOM and leaving the EU was always going to make both legal and illegal migration worse so there is nothing he can do either legally or politically.
The system is rigged against him. Since the Blair reforms, you can't do right of centre politics. All that Supreme Court, OBR, Climate Commission structure needs to be removed.
How will this work? France will not take any immigrants back as we have no agreement. Boris couldnt be bothered to put anything in his poor Brexit withdrawal deal.
The agenda stays the same no matter who's in office.
Because of Brexit migrants cannot be returned to France.
I hope Sunak loses his Richmond , North Yorkshire seat . A small crumb of comfort is better than nothing .

There were not many Tory councils wasting money on road 'improvements' -making dead end streets to cut down on polution- but causing more by having to travel forther to your destination. Moving a whole council from a purpose made building into the centre of town. Meaning the staff will now have to travel further to work or find impossible parking in town. Who is this?? Newcastle Labour council and others thoughout the country.

The tories are a disgrace but I think it is possible to do worse, and on many of the things I care about I think Labour will be worse. As I go from left to right, our leadership goes from right to left: the left, at the moment, are anti-west.

And in the last 2 years living standards have fallen by 4.2% with lowering GDP per capita as well as a 2 year rate of of 20% inflation
