IMO this only highlights how he was better than Messi and CR7. He won EVERYTHING in like 7 years, while they are still struggling to achieve the same titles 20 years later. None of them have a Libertadores de America or a Confederations Cup. Even Pele and Maradona have only some titles Dinho can display on his shelf.

@mikedumoskero nah he cooked with this take, r9 is slightly overrated as a finisher, go watch old games not just highlights. He could dribble a whole team tho. Imo he has an argument as the greatest dribbler ever, it's different than messi but arguably more efficient. How he dribbles was unlike anything I saw and it created absolutely spectacular near goals basically every game

a couple of fun facts about Ronaldinho:
his insane ball control is due to him playing futsal which is a type of football played in a smaller pitch with less players and since the space is so cramped, the ball control is necessary to succeed.
Also, he had a problem with justice in my country and went to jail for some time and while in jail he played in a tournament for the inmates and he won that too.

you're so spot on about americans not appreciating how hard technical ability is, I'm not sure what it is either because it seems to run down to the national team too. Hugo Perez (who discovered pulisic) mentioned in an interview that he offered pulisic to many MLS clubs and they all rejected him because he was too small and not seen to fit the physical game that Americans usually play. America was always a kick and run team but even the old national teams have had some technical ability like dempsey and donovan, it would be interesting to see how American development would be when they start to focus on technical ability.

Non-brazilians got to see the amazing things Ronaldinho did, but it's difficult to express what it was like growing up in Brazil watching him play. There were certain things that were just chilling to see...for instance his first game in the seleção, he scored a goal exactly like one Pelé scored AND he celebrated EXACTLY like Pelé did. Everyone else saw it as an amazing goal, brazilians saw it as a Pelé reincarnation of sorts. It's hard to appreciate the feeling.
I remember when he went to Barcelona. Jornal Nacional, which is the prime time national evening news in the country's biggest tv network, would show clips of something he did at a match. Not during the sports segment, mind you, as PART OF THE ACTUAL NEWS. It was insane.

Ronaldinho played with a joy that made you want to watch the game. And if you enjoyed his early highlights, you should have a look at a video of JAY JAY OKOCHA highlights as well. JAY JAY (so good they named him twice) was already at PSG when Ronaldinho joined the team, and you can clearly see the influence he had on his game (though obviously Ronaldinho went on to greater heights). PSG were a fun side to watch back in those days as they tended to have younger or more fringe players that hadn't broken through yet, but were so talented. But yeah, definitely check out OKOCHA, some fantastic highlights. And like Ronaldinho doing the elastico to skip by players, Okocha did a drag over of the ball and a body swerve that was so confusing to defenders (and surprisingly isn't that hard to do well, especially if you have good acceleration from a standing start).

I like to use this example to people who dont understand why Football (not NFL) is so difficult, all the main american sports uses the hands: baseball, basketball, golf, football. It's all about using your hands. We use our hands for almost everything in our daily lives, so even if we dont play the sport, our hand they are 'trained'
We dont use our feet for anything besides walking, so imagine doing all that a football player can do with his foot and how much practice you need

Bro I 100% agree. Football is way harder than it looks. You notice better by watching matches at the stadium but mostly by playing, then you understand the ball does tricky trajectories depending on the spin and things like that, there's so many possibilities for creative people. Americans have tradition of American football and basketball so I think with a bigger fanbase and more tradition you're gonna produce monster goalkeepers and wingers. I've seen basketball players jump so high and have so much acceleration that they make good defenders, watch at home the kid Jeyland Mitchell vs Vini jr, the kid was basketball player not long ago and he dominanted vini

Hey Luke, watching your travel into football since a while. Im a pretty hardcore football fan, being part of the Ultras of FC Köln (Cologne/Germany) in my youth and roughly the same age as you. If you ever want to know, why we (Millenials, if you want to call the generation) think of Ronaldinho as high as we are. Watch some of the old "Joga Bonito" Advertisement clips here on youtube. You will get the full early to mid 2000 vibes there. And Ronaldinho obviously being one of the main characters there (next to Zidane, Beckham, R. Carlos and the likes...).
Ronaldinho has an ability that not that many footballers have had after that golden era of superstars. He made 10 year olds start to dribble across the whole field, just because they felt the need to make a creative and beaetiful play. Despite their coaches screaming at them to stop this nonsense and play disciplined. No. Dinho made the game more beautiful. He was the reason we all believed in our dribbling skills. In trying the unexpected. In playing the game in an offensive way.
In Football history the 90s were dominated by italian teams and their catennaccio (defensive style of football). Ronaldinho and the other stars of the early 2000s broke that up and finally we saw beautiful plays again.
    Keep up your channel!

I think one of the reason Roni goes under people’s radar is he played in France before the big TV audience took over European football
A lot of the footage in France shows empty seats which doesn’t happen in the English top leagues

  • @SlCKNESS_
    @SlCKNESS_ หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The weight isn't just about stamina. You literally cannot pivot or "animate" as fast as you should be able to, due to the weight. This affects dribbling, ball control, passing and shooting. So basically everything about football. Trying to play football while overweight is a great way to lose weight, but it's also a serious struggle. As long as you don't over-eat to compensate for the calorie burn of playing football it's actually one of the best ways to lose weight as well.
If you think football is too harsh on your joints to play frequently enough to use as a weight-loss exercise then I recommend getting an elliptical trainer machine and just watch a tv show or w/e for 40mins while you exercise on the elliptical every day. Just make sure you remain in a calorie deficit (introduced by the daily exercise) to actually lose the weight, don't just start eating more, because you "now exercise and can afford to eat a little more food". Last things to mention - don't bother running in a park or on a treadmill, an elliptical trainer is considerably better. Lifting weights is also extremely beneficial, although it doesn't directly help with weight loss, it's always recommended for almost anyone. But it basically doubles the commitment you have to put into exercising, so it's more of an optional suggestion, despite of how incredibly beneficial it is.

Shielding the ball can allow a lot of time if you can do it well. And if you scan the pitch as and when you’re receiving the ball you can gauge the time you have on the ball, then if you need to make a safe pass you can. Good luck

also do a lot of 1 vs 1. Just 2 people trying to pass the other one and taking the ball. It will improves your dribble ability and you will be a lil more press resistant

Like you said the thing with giving up the ball quickly coz of pressure, now think you play with amateurs so the speed of the pressure coming on to you is 10x times slower than pro games, plus the physicality of it and having that xtra pressure of a 50.000 stadium plus TV all around the world, its insainly difficult, to be a player like Ronaldinho or Messi you need to be special❤

Comparing Neymar to CR7 or Messi, I'd say he has the same amount of talent and natural skill, the difference is that he made some wrong decisions, luck wasn't on his side, maybe his commitment to being the best wasn't on the same level as the other two who gave it their all, all of the time. But when comes to natural talent, Neymar is easily one of the best players who've ever played this game.

For me, the beauty of football video is terrible video to introduce someone into the sport. You need to know the context in a lot of those clips to fully appreciate it. And for some reason it’s always one of the first football videos people are told to react to.

Ronaldinho is probably the third after Maradona and Messi when it comes to dribbling. An absolutely brilliant player. It was almost impossible to take the ball from him without committing a foul.

To think that at a certain point PSG had both Ronaldinho and Okocha playing at the same time.
