  • The cheap bead rollers that you can buy from Harbor Freight or Princess Auto are not very good as they come, but with some little improvements they can become a great addition to a metal fabricating shop.

    That looks a lot more stable Elin.. Good job.. Now to work on my own stability, but tightening nuts will not be possible as the wife removed those years ago !

    Great modification, plenty more panels on those old Triumphs to put it to the test.
    Well done and good luck from Spain!!

    just a little fyi if you are in the market for a new bead roller of this style. eastwood's version is made of much heavier material and has grease zerks. while not perfect it's not flimsy like this one or the harbor freight option. so when you modify the eastwood, you have a very nice roller. just my 2 cents.

      I know, but with the shipment and duties it would be 3 times more expensive. And it comes with only 3 sets of dies.

    I was waiting for a Triumph steering wheel to replace the handle.

      I had a steering wheel prepared for that job, but I decided that grabbing spokes gives me a better grip than a wheel.

    A round wheel will be a vast improvement over that drill press style.

    Good modification. a plate at the end between the main parts above and below the slot at the roller end should stiffen it up more 👍👍

      I thought about boxing it all over, but it is solid enough as it is. And heavy :)

    Elin have you seen on Project Binky how they motorized their bead roller so it can be activated by a foot switch?

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I don't need that. I don't use it that much and I'd like to keep it simple. Easy to move and store when not needed.

  • @TheCitroenman1

    use a electric motor with variable speed dial to power it instead of the crank handle .

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I knew this comment was going to come up :) I am not interested in motorizing it. I use it for simple jobs, not very often and I'd like to keep it as small, light and simple as possible. Easy to move around and store, when not used. If one day I have a big garage and more use of a bead roller, I will build a bigger one and motorize it.
