    I like the two part video.
    It’s nice to show people we actually work.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah… I like to film stuff when I can, but sometimes it just isn’t feasible time /schedule wise and that work getting done fast and on time is what pays my bills.
      I hope to do more actual work videos in the future though… I pretty much just plan for the right service calls.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance

      Another way is that Every small job around the house can’t be done without … “I’m going to need this tool to do that” being said 😂
      New Toilet seat… I’m going to need a new impact and Sawzall!

    Nice haul there. I’ve done the hack and returned the items to the store with no issues. Also sold some stuff on offer up. I have the m18 random orbit sander and it works great. Lots of power and great dust collection. You will like it. I also have the m18 fuel grinder but mine has the deadman switch because I bought it a while ago but it works great as well. I also picked up a Pica pencil .09 today at woodcraft.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice. I had to order my pencils.. No local Woodcraft for me.
      I usually try and sell on Facebook before returning to either let someone get that item at the same price as the return… or even make a few more dollars.
      Sometimes the Deadman Switch is better so you can just leave it running…. Only gets scary when you start to drop it 😂

    I’ve done the exact same thing you’ve done over the last few years when I decided to upgrade my power tools to all Milwaukee m12 and m18. I’m not in the business of making money with my tools or contractor but any means, I just like doing my own work on my house, from flooring, plumbing, electrical, to my own automotive work. That being said I wasn’t in a hurry to acquire a lot of tools fast and waited for seasonal or holiday deals and bogos to get tools for cheap or acquire lots of batteries. Sometimes I did hacks and other times I took the tool I didn’t need or already had and turned around and resold it on market place or offerup and sometimes ended up with a cheap Milwaukee tool or in some cases made money to get a tool.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah you can come out pretty good buying additional items you don’t need and selling those than just getting bare tools. Takes some time, but if it equals more tools… I’m all in.
      I’m like you, there have been times I made some extra money and kept the tool I wanted… at a minimum I usually get at least 50% off.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I want to do more of those. I’ve been doing nothing but drywall and framing the last few months…
      A few service calls, but nothing exciting except for a frozen burst pipe on Christmas Eve… it was a bad situation so I didn’t want to be like “Do you care if I film your House being destroyed” or “let me set-up a camera before we turn the water off” 😂
      I appreciate the suggestion… definitely want to work more of those in… I need the practice of filming and editing those.

    As far as blades go, I love my fastback that I keep on me. But I gotta give the award to my handy retractable red tajima razor! The twist knob locks it solid in place and the blades are the perfect balance of being flexible but not flimsy 👍

    • @MORGANSMaintenance

    Fatmax is king! The autolock is my favorite. I do find the 25’ standard is a bit bulky and the 16’ spring is a bit strong but they are all just stellar performers

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So far my 25’ have been doing well. I have never got FatMax before because they seemed so plain…. But maybe they know they have a good product and don’t have to go overboard on “extras”.
      Only thing I don’t like about them so far is that they aren’t 2-sided… I’ve kinda got used to that.
      I wanted a 16’ to fit in my pouch better and decided to try a auto lock… haven’t had one of those in any brand for a long time.

    I’ve bought 3 of the Klein 25ft magnetic tape, and had the tape break on 2 of them. For me they last about a year before the tape breaks and becomes a slight danger of causing a finger cut as the tape retracts. I wouldn’t say I’m that hard on them, but I won’t be buying another one.

      You are right. That’s why I have newer tools pretty often. I keep them clean and continually sell and upgrade (not everything, but my heavy users)
      If I buy/sell often, To me I’m out the same money over time by losing a little each transaction as spending the entire amount to buy a new tool and tossing the other… but I always have the newer tool.

  • @El_Diablo_LI
    @El_Diablo_LI ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a couple of comments on your video.
    1. Those "hacks" as they are called, are a great way to save lots of money on tools. Those of us in the know have been doing them for years. In fact, there are a few other TH-cam channels dedicated to finding these hacks and occasional "glitches" which can save you even more on tools when they occur. Home Depot is the better place to find them as opposed to Lowe's because Home Depot will break down the purchase just like you showed on the receipt so you're able to return the item you don't want just to save a great deal of money. Lowe's won't allow this on the BOGO deals and this is a big reason why Home Depot far outsells Lowe's in tool sales every year. By a significant amount in fact. Maybe one day Lowe's will wake up and realize what they're missing out on, but that's their loss for now.
    2. You kept calling those Stanley Fat Max tape measures 16 inches or 25 inches. They are in fact 16 foot and 25 foot tape measures. Just wanted to point that out to you.
    3. The coupons you talk about from Home Depot are great ways to save money and if you know where to look for them or find them regularly, they definitely help save real money. But, they are called "koo-pons", and not "que-pons" as you called them. Lol
    I know you've got that southern accent that causes you to mispronounce some of these words, but in some cases it can be detrimental to your success and the growth of your channel.
    Other than those couple of bits of small constructive criticisms, thanks for sharing your tips, tricks and money saving methods on your channel.
    I'm a fan and wish you "Good luck!"

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I caught the 25” and 16” as I watched it back. I’m not good enough at editing to attempt to fix it after I’ve filmed 😂.
      I stumble with words sometimes… I don’t really even speak that much in person so being quick with words on the fly is not my thing.
      I try to catch my grammar and pronunciation as much as possible,but I am who I am… and was born where I live. Odds are I’m not fixable at this point, the channel will just have to go where it goes 😂
      As I said, I knew many people would know about the hacks and other deals… I found out about them on TH-cam as well through ToolBoss.
      100 % agree with you on Lowes.
      Thanks for watching and appreciate the suggestions 👍

    Interesting how you go about getting the tool deals over in the USA. I gave up on the auto tape lock, as they never seem to last that long for me.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I haven’t used an Auto Lock in a long time… thought I’d give one ago. It’s going in my pouch where the tape gets the most workout… so we will see how long it last.
      It would be nice if they would just lower the price on all tools instead of making us buy/sell stuff we don’t want… but it’s what they do with everything here. Like drinks…They Jack up the price and then put if you buy 3 you get them at a discount. That discount price is what they want to make, but now they just sold 3 instead of 1. Then if anyone doesn’t buy 3 they make an even bigger profit.
      It’s all a game 😂

    I do try to get my tools on sale, especially around major holidays. But I admit, sometimes I am not patient enough or just need something sooner rather than later. I will compare prices on Amazon, Home Depot and Lowes, when applicable. Often times, I can find HD and Lowes to be cheaper. At a minimum, I can take advantage of their 10% veteran discount. Often just that discount makes it cheaper than Amazon. With Amazon, surprisingly sometimes I can get a cheaper price by ordering from the UK or Japan Amazon. I saved $13 recently on a pair of Knipex long reach needle nose pliers by ordering them from the UK. Shipping took longer, of course. Free international shipping so no added cost there. Well worth the extra wait. Being able to write off the tools as a business expense helps come tax time.

    :))
    I was thinking about that Knipex knife, but I prefer my Olfas. Especially OLFA-L-5 has all the features I need - ratcheting knob lock and that metal fin.
    That kind of drywall jobs (26:00) may be a PITA, but from time to time I like to do them. Just to break the monotony. I also always paint my drywall/skim coats; Graco St-Max II 595 makes it really easy. And well paid.

      I’ll use any deal excuse I can to get my fix 😂.
      I have that Olfa in my Amazon list from your original recommendation but I’m a Knipex addict too… so they got me again.
      I normally always at least prime my new drywall (especially with homeowners who want to paint) because I’m afraid other people won’t… but I typically do all of it too.
      They are wanting to get these Suites done and it was easier for us to find a painter than a Drywaller/Framer… so we subbed out painting that I could keep the ball rolling on both of them… if I had another few weeks or month I would have preferred to do it all.
      These demising walls weren’t as bad as some because there weren’t many mechanicals going through… just ceiling framing.

      @@MORGANSMaintenance Maybe they've upped their game.
      My family members in the trades can't find a tape they like at all. They say Fatmax has gone downhill. They don't like the super-fat ones from any company because they don't fit in their belts. I think they are mostly going with the old-style metal Stanleys right now.
      Maybe they just need to break less stuff.

      @@playdg I don’t think it’s just them…all my Milwaukee ones haven’t lasted anytime before the end of the tape starts twisting…
      I’m trying out some FatMax and Lufkin ones right now… time will tell.

      Thank Buddy 👍. Tool Boss is where I learned it from too.
      Some customer service people at the Depo don’t like it… like your in their pocket, but it’s like.. you know you want us to do it, if not you wouldn’t do your receipts that way.
