This is a very powerful song and the talking in the song is anointed and I cannot imagine the song without it. It is only those people who are looking at the flesh would criticize the message in the music. God bless you Bill and Gloria for blessing us with this song. I know it was inspired by the Holy Spirit. My band in Africa used to sing this song and many were touched. Thank you for your ministry throughout the years. We love you for your humility and love for the Gospel and God's people.
I have heard this song done in many different videos and in every one of them no matter who is singing it the part Gloria reads is done as a reading with the same exact words. That's because that's the way it was written by Bill and Gloria to be done. It is meant not just to entertain; which it does; but also to inspire; which it also does. God bless Bill and Gloria Gaither and may they provide us with many more songs of worship and praise for the glory of God.
Our choir did this song this past sunday. I am so glad I started choir I loved that song. Next Sunday we're doing Everyone Arise. Our choir is pretty small thats because our church is small. Go Georgetown Baptist. Haha. Oh Gloria does normally do it .
I think the spoken word is very effective in this song, and it enhances the message of the song. When I sing, I will often read a scripture verse during the interlude, because I believe that the Word of God has power, and Romans tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. When I play flute solos, I will read a verse or short passage before I play for the same reason.

There has never been music that touched me so deeply as the Gaithers.

Gloria has always spoken in a lot of their songs.
Amen, amen, amen.
yep u r right....... Gloria stopped singing since Danny was diagnosed with cancer.
oh also we sang while our narerator spoke
The church is alive and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against her
i think Gloria stared having vocal problems so she quit solos because of that
I do like the the spiritual harmony - BUT - the "talking" is distracting.
