Michael English was with the Singing Americans before joining the GVB, he than went solo for a while than after the album "In Christ Alone"(for wich he won a Dove award) we didn't hear anything from him, which some of you call his "fall from grace", than here in the last few years he has been coming back into the Southern Gospel scene.
I enjoyed this song so much that I sang it as a solo in my local church last night and God poured down his Holy Spirit upon me and the church stood up to their feet and praised the Lord and sang with me. This is so anointed! May God continue to bless Michael English in his work for the Lord.
I, too, have fallen. Fallen very far from grace. I have found the Christian community to be so unforgiving. If only I had a Vestal to pray me back, to guide me,.....I think this man's strength is amazing and I give him so much credit. God Bless You Michael. This is from someone who knows.

I like this earlier version better than the newer one. My cousin Verdel Sorenson had a Southern Gospel Band and the way they did thiss song and many others was amazing however He went home to be with the Lord when he was still a young man. Of course this was before CD's and was out on Vinal.
I think Jimmie Davis wrote it, but Mahalia Jackson did a version a long, long time ago without the second verse and with different timing. The first time I personally heard it was when Michael (or Mike) was with the Singing Americans. He actually sang it first with the Happy Goodmans (I think), and then "brought" it to the Singing Americans for his second stint with them....then brought it to Gaither, and pretty much everywhere he's been. Smart move. He owns this song, IMO.
This is a great song, but there is not any I have heard that compares with Rick Blessing.He brings people to their knees with the power of his anointed voice.

Actually, Buddy Mullins was Michael's replacement and only sang for around a year, THEN Guy came into the group.
